  1. Down a lot, but they weren't expecting anywhere near that. I think they said they were mostly expecting it to be the #1 or #2 show on the CW. And for this week anyway it likely is. We'll see if it crashes over the next few weeks.
  2. I just wish it wasn't a month away. The GOP will self-repair for survival as always (as you can already see with craven scum like media darling Marco pushing the company line that Trump is bad but he's all they have) and the media, which always feels uneasy when they can't talk about Democrats being broken and disarray, will get bored. That's likely one of the reasons they are pushing these leaks to try to find something that sticks. The good thing is Hillary's people don't seem likely to get complacent the way Karl Rove did back in 2000.
  3. I keep wondering if any major media sources will say, "We aren't going to keep publishing Wikileaks material," but nope, they just keep going, day after day. If they were leaking info on Trump, I have a feeling these leaks would not get quite so much coverage...
  4. McCaughey has always been a nasty grandstander. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betsy_McCaughey
  5. And this is why when people get upset that you don't take InfoWars seriously, you ignore them. This is now beyond The Onion. It's pathetic. And it's playing into the hands of lunatics. No one even knows what Hell smells like. Unless it's Trump once that thing is taken off his head for the night.
  6. Betty Lynn briefly mentions the show in an interview earlier this year. I hope someone out there may be able to ask her a bit more about the show while that's still possible. Or let her know an episode is available with her in it. http://www.cleveland.com/travel/index.ssf/2016/01/betty_lynn_remains_thelma_lou.html
  7. The main thrust of the conservative movement of the last 80 years has been this deep resentment to social security and thus all so-called socialized programs. This goes back to FDR. They have been trying to destroy these programs since the 30s and the way they have gone about it the last 30 years is to cut taxes. Then with taxes cut they don't have the money they used to so then they say "we can't afford food stamps and whatnot". Well of course they can't, they just cut taxes. By starving government they hope to one day do away with all the social programs. Right. Beyond that it's also fear of government overreach - paranoia that the government is out to get them (like the "death panels"). Of course they're fine with using the government the way they want to overreach, but don't do it to them or they'll crush it. Opposing and killing things and stifling are the only thing the GOP actually knows how to do. They even hate libraries. I saw some viewers saying they made Trump look better by making him look like a victim with their overbaked behavior. They're probably right. It's time for debates to stop having moderators. Anderson Cooper isn't even a journalist, he's a spoiled rich boy who looked good on TV and giggles a lot.
  8. Frances did a decent job in the hour long episodes too, she just didn't have much to do. Not sure when this is from, beyond late '80s.
  9. This must be from about 1989? This is one of the temp Gwens, right? I can't remember when this one appeared.
  10. His son-in-law really does seem to be a disgusting creep. I wonder how long this will linger with the family after it's over. I doubt their lives will ever be the same again, especially those who had actual careers. I saw that the twit Conway was going around saying certain Congressmen sexually assaulted her when she was younger and trying to use this to push back against Trump criticism. I'd love it if someone asked her who because that's awfully convenient timing to suddenly bring this up. Remember when the GOP got upset about this type of thing and loved to paint it as out of control liberalism?
  11. A good writeup (and no mention of the horror of not shaking hands) http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/in-the-abusers-house
  12. I was looking through tweets and saw that "MAGA" over and over with Trump and Pence. I know what it stands for, but does it creep anyone else out? It's so Lovecraftian.
  13. More of the "stopped the bleeding, relief, he beat her in the debate, although he would still lose the election right now," narrative. I imagine how much the media would be pushing a huge win if not for the tape. I still kind of wish she wouldn't bother with the last debate. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/10/2016-presidential-debate-gop-reaction-229520 Unless you've been following the election from the primaries you wouldn't know. It's not like the conventions had 150 million viewers. And most people honestly don't pay attention to what the pundits say or spend their time watching endless CNN etc news coverage 7 days a week. So you pay attention to key events that happen after Labor Day. I don't see why it's surprising people would not have heard this. This happened after the primaries though, for a week (even longer if you count rallies), a high-profile week, in an election that more have paid attention to than many recent elections. But we'll agree to disagree.
  14. Uhm we are not talking about his base who eats up everything he says. We are talking about level headed voters. That was my point. Those were watched by millions and clips went out everywhere even to those who didn't watch. I thought most people would have known how extreme his views were. I guess some just didn't pay attention until now.
  15. Are people upset about the jail stuff? I figured people were used to it. The whole RNC was "lock her up! lock her up!"
  16. I went to Chris Cilizza's review and he spun what I imagine is going elsewhere too - that Trump did so much better (he seemed enthralled with the "late great Lincoln" line) and Hillary struggled, but it didn't matter because Trump ruined it with his ugly little show with Juanita and friends. If that is a spin elsewhere it probably does help even them out somewhat (although I think that will happen regardless of spin - this is a very polarized country). He also put up a tweet of that Bill and Chelsea photo with "Slick Willie" underneath, which...tells you again how he feels about the Clintons. My favorite part was that he was upset that they didn't shake hands during the debate, because decorum is still important, even in a race like this. If that doesn't tell you how out of touch the Beltway is, nothing will.
  17. It seemed he had, but he returned because he realized he couldn't be without Carmel (ugh).
  18. Yes. They were going to have to sell it but Mick and Linda forced Babe to give them their money back.
  19. Leah Bracknell reached her funding goal. She and her partner thanked everyone and included some photos of a double rainbow they saw, as a sign of hope. I do hope for her and her family. Whatever happens, at least she knows how much people cared.https://www.gofundme.com/2r2kwanw
  20. They're cockroaches. I mostly just hope this is enough to lose the Senate. That's the best for me.
