The Politics Thread
The few headlines I saw online basically said "Trump apologizes," then went on to talk about his attacks on Bill. So it looks like a lot of his spin is being bought. Sadly a lot of voters will put up with all sorts of abuse and hatred toward women, and with a month to go a collective tsk-tsk and how dare you from the GOP establishment might be enough if he keeps pushing with the idea that these are just words and there are "real world" matters to focus on. What won't work is making it about Bill Clinton, a frail man whose scandals were over 15 years ago and who hasn't been high-profile enough in this election to successfully sell the idea that he = Hillary. Going on about Hillary enabling him or attacking women isn't going to do much good either, because no one outside of the biggest Hillary haters will believe Trump over her on the subject of harassment and abuse of women. I can see why his people don't want any Clinton talk. At best it will encourage some to vote for neither (which is still a very tempting option for many voters). At worst it will just make Trump look like a deluded, nasty toddler of a tyrant. If he drops the Bill stuff and the media keeps pushing the false "apology" narrative, he'll probably skate, especially since the expectations for the town hall are nonexistent and the media wants a close race.

I haven't seen the episode yet but I saw the little clip where she and Jack got into it. I'm glad the show remembered their history and remembered the murkiness of what Jack did with her sister. I'm glad she didn't get nasty with Jade either, when Jade defended him. (Jade and Jude - only on a soap...)

I notice most of the people condemning him are people who have to for political reasons. I hope he doesn't drop out because Mike Pence terrifies me.

Most of the polls for Senate and gubernatorial races suggested voters separated the GOP from Trump. I wonder if that will change now. I hope that Democrats can at least retake the Senate because otherwise it's just going to be 4 years of obstruction and endless investigations of nothing.

No one but Trump supporters, the alt right, and the like give a f*ck about Julian Assange and whatever rubbish he's trying to spread now. This isn't going to get any traction. Apparently there's some Bernie Sanders stuff in there too, which might get a reaction, but most of the people who'd care are likely voting for Jill Stein anyway.

So Assange released more empty trash about Hillary right after Trump's tape broke. I guess this will soon be the "big" story, even though nothing is in it beyond more of Clinton obviously changing her positions in the last year or two (and she mentions open borders, but people who are focused on that aren't voting for her anyway). It's laughable that he claimed a few days ago he wasn't against Hillary. He really is a stooge. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/10/john-podesta-wikileaks-hacked-emails-229304

He knows what a sycophant Matt Lauer is. I imagine he and Andrew Lack are jumping at the chance. So glad that CNN is still employing a campaign employee.

I think what disturbs me most is how many Trump-esque (or even more dangerous) types are around now. Putin, that Duterte guy, what's happening in Germany, France and the UK...I guess people are frightened and reactionary, but it frightens me because I don't know how it can be fixed.

Bush is on the Today Show now. I think he had an awful interview with someone a year or two back that got notice. Didn't he get Nancy O'Dell fired from AH? What did he say about her in the audio? I saw that a few days ago that Conway woman was on Faux News bragging to Megyn Kelly about Trump's support with women (Kelly rebuffed the idea). These ugly comments make that more and more of a joke, but still, it's sad how many women still support him. I get the whole, "Don't tell me to support a woman just because she's a woman" thing, but Trump is clearly a hardcore misogynist and possibly a predator as well. Saying he loves his daughter isn't enough.

LOL…Just saw him pop out of the bus with Trump. I was wondering who he was talking with. Now Trump is saying that BC has said worse to him on the golf course. And that's what it's about for a lot of people. "The Clintons are worse." The problem for him is he's so transparent about it. He's just so oily and so proud of being a pig, and every time he tries to half-heartedly walk it back that's just more clear. There's a lot of hatred for women in this country and a lot of tolerance of hatred for women, and his candidacy has put a red circle around that in a way NOW or twits like Lena Dunham never could.

Carl, come on. This is the opposite of luck. In every way. It is incredibly damaging and it is everywhere. Even you must see that. I'm not sure what I said that's wrong. It's lucky for him in that it could have been worse. I didn't say it in a positive way. He's lucked out time and time again in the last year and a half about vile things he's said. I doubt that will change now. It was bad for him that this came out, that people are again reminded of what a vile piece of [!@#$%^&*] he is, but we've been here before, a million times.

Why am I not surprised Billy Bush was in the conversation? Trump's lucky that people expect the worst of him as it is regarding women, and that society has a very, very high tolerance for abuse and harassment toward women. And that the election is a month away and this came out when the hurricane is getting the real attention.

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
I know it was originally supposed to be a break, but I do wonder where the character could have even gone at that point. Zoe could easily return even now, but that isn't likely. I'm glad the show tweeted about this, as did a number of actors present (Mark Charnock) and past (Amy Nuttall, Liam O'Brien). And they've nearly reached their goal, which I don't think they were expecting at all. It tells you that people can be kind even today but also tells you the impact Leah made as Zoe. Lin is a very good actress, but this story has reminded me that I can't take Pam when she's in an actual story. She always hurts everyone around her through selfishness and control freak ways and deceptions. I tend to prefer her as a supporting character.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Leah Bracknell (Zoe Tate, an Emmerdale icon and perhaps the most groundbreaking lesbian character ever on soaps) is battling stage 4 lung cancer and asking for funds. If you could even share the link that would be good. https://www.gofundme.com/2r2kwanw- The Politics Thread

I'd heard about this, and I know what to expect from Faux News, but I didn't realize until watching just how much time would be spent making fun of Asians - and not poking fun at stereotypes or other buzzwords, but actually making fun of the people in the video. It seems like the GOP is happy to throw away the Asian vote after spending many years trying to cultivate it.- Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
There's some really bad hair on the show at the moment with the men...lots of men seem to just be doing buzz cuts, which works for some but not others. Harry now looks older than Ste, which makes it a good thing they've dropped the age gap as Harry wanders onscreen solely to be a sitter for Ste and his children. And the hipster Donovan brother is a great example of why some men actually need short hair. It is poorly maintained and distracting from his mediocre acting. Then again maybe that's the point. I cringed when Ste the abuser put his hands on Amy when they were squabbling over their children. I'm sorry that Leah has been made into a generic soap brat because it means rather than worrying about her well-being, I just wish she would leave. The woman playing Cameron/Lockie's cousin is a decent actress and adds a bit of urgency to a moribund plot. The problem is beyond her I don't really care if the truth comes out or if Cameron pays. Cameron at least has some energy and is easy on the eye, while Tegan is sort of there, Ste is...Ste, and Kirsty-Leigh Porter seems to have forgotten how to act. I liked the part where a well-meaning Amy unwittingly encouraged Jack's niece to go on a crime spree.- The Politics Thread
I know the first time she ran there was talk he could be on SCOTUS, but I don't think they'd do that.- The Politics Thread
That's true, but in campaign terms, explaining it a month before a crucial election is a pretty questionable idea. I think most people know Obamacare has problems, and I doubt most of them will ever be fixed because the GOP just wants to slowly choke the life out of it, and I can understand why he wasn't going to lie and say it is all fine, but it just gave Trump and the media a shiny object. - EastEnders: Discussion Thread
