Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
I think Shirley Stelfox passing away and the Laurel/Ashley reunion have boxed her out. Oates hinted at pairing her with Bob, but I don't know if that would have worked. I do wish they'd give her more to do as I'm not sure why the actress even stays on the show. I think Kate Oates had a lot of good ideas for a while but for me her last year had a lot of mistakes.

I know. The show has so few moral touchstone characters. I wish they'd build up Harriet's role as she's just about it on that front.

It's a shame it took two and a half years for that scenario, by which point it had no real impact. I guess as the Reardons had mostly been gone for a long time in soap terms, it was a way to save money to only mention them, but I do wonder if having some back, even just Bea, might have made her goodbye feel like it was more about her instead of JFP clearly not caring about the character, which was another factor in viewers quitting the show.

If it is easily available in the US I hope people will get to see Ashley's story, if episodes from this year are available. It reminds me so much of material Marland or Agnes Nixon or Bill Bell would have done...far more than anything on American soaps in years.

I think one time Kim Zimmer may have been asked and said Kristi lived on a ranch now (if I'm making this up someone please let me know!) and was no longer acting. Still I could swear there were rumors in the mid-90s about a return. I guess Cassie took her place. Still, even one or two episodes for a holiday would have been nice. It was just wrong she wasn't there after Sarah died.

I doubt I can afford it - to be honest I have a feeling it won't last long. I hope I'm wrong. I just hope they won't get rid of the outlets we have in the US to get new episodes.

Thanksgiving 1985. Lujack on his deathbead, a Lewis Thanksgiving at the jailhouse, and Reva, Hawk and Roxy away on their own jaunt to fill your usual Reva quotient of these years. At least we got to see a Bauer Thanksgiving too...although it's sobering to realize the longest-serving Bauer actor at this point was Ellen Dolan, who would be out the door by spring. Kristi Ferrell was a poor actress but I always had a soft spot for Roxy...even if I still can't remember if it's spelled Roxy or Roxie.

Pretty good articles on the hacking of the DNC and DCCC. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/13/us/politics/russia-hack-election-dnc.html http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/13/us/politics/house-democrats-hacking-dccc.html

Well if you ever want to save any before they go down, my channels are Youtube - Frank Harker and Jerry Sugden, and Dailymotion - Lady Tara Oakwell.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
I posted about that earlier and I'm glad, but it makes me worry that they will now bar any old episodes from Youtube or Dailymotion. If anyone watches those I guess you should enjoy while you can.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
http://deadline.com/2016/12/bbc-worldwide-svod-itv-britbox-amc-networks-eastenders-new-blood-faulty-towers-emmerdale-holby-city-1201869449/ On the positive side, this may make it easier for those in the US to see Emmerdale. On the negative, I’d say if you want to save anything from Youtube or Dailymotion or wherever you might want to do so quickly.- The Politics Thread

As the Russia stuff is likely going to go nowhere in terms of results, I wonder if the press will ever focus more on Trump's posturing regarding China, which is very dangerous. Yet a part of me hopes they don't focus on it because I have a feeling we will get "yellow peril" type racism...- DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos

Some people will be kept alive and free with Pence. Given his support for conversion therapy, I have my doubts about others.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
She turned 31 earlier this month but I don't want to be mean... I know. I was sure we'd get one with Belle, or with Jacob and Gabby. I'm so glad there's been a break so far. The last was when Gemma had an abortion in 2013. That's a lifetime for modern soaps.- The Politics Thread
I actually do think he seriously considered choosing Mitt - it's good optics, and that's one of his main obsessions. He got a lot of pushback, which he is also now getting on Tillerson, not just about Russia but also from powerful hatemongers like Tony Perkins, so I wonder if we'll end up with a consensus pick like Bob Corker or the odious Bolton.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
It's very true to life though - falling in with a bad crowd, and so on. I do think he is basically a decent person so hopefully it won't go on too long. I just hope this will mean more Leyla... Emmerdale has such believable teens, especially compared to the 30-year old Louise on Eastenders.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread

Well that's one of the issues which got focus in recent weeks - that thanks to Congress stonewalling him, so much of what he planned really was just via executive order. That's one of the reasons he likely fought so hard for Hillary to win. I have to admit I'm not sure if Obama saying anything about this (instead of just letting underlings say it) would have made a difference. If anything it may have hurt her even more. - Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
