  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqoYmx_L-Xs South Africa loves their soapies!
  2. I'm sure they would kill for them, but I believe they dropped by almost a million viewers in late 1994.
  3. Did Louie, that doctor with the baseball cap, have any type of exit? GL seemed to hold onto many of their recurring characters for decades, but he just seemed to vanish.
  4. What did you think of Nina and Steve Jacobi? I wonder if Tom and Brooke ever loved each other at all.
  5. Apparently July 1985, according to the writing on the clips. This whole story seems to reflect the hysteria of a lot of the show at this time. The scenes where Louie and Harry were going to brawl in the corridors over the sancticity of Ed's reputation were bewildering. And I laughed and laughed at those scenes where Charlotte called into "The Fletch and Mo Show" and broadcast the Claire/Ed affair, without ever saying it was them, as Fletcher and Maureen wail and weep and throw things. I think this ended with Charlotte dead and Alicia as her killer. You can also see why Susan Pratt wasn't thrilled with Claire - she seems fine here, but within a few months she will try to smother baby Michelle with a pillow.
  6. I was reading a Digest from April 1984 and they talk about casting Ben Shelby. I wonder what happened there, as I don't believe he showed up for about three years. Was this before Labine was fired?
  7. I didn't know that about Donna and Tom. I wonder what that was about. I'm not sure I've ever seen Dan, aside from photos. Most of what I remember is the actor hated his role.
  8. At the time I was mostly annoyed with the show again telling us how awesome Tea was. I wasn't watching all that much when both Patrick and Dylan were on but I think Dylan was more interesting when he was embittered and had the edge. In some ways I think he had the most potential after he and Marty split. I think he just ended up dating Linda (who sadly never had anything to do) and quietly leaving town.
  9. I wish they'd included Marian in the Chandler shot (hell, Liza too...or was Jamie Luner already done by then). I wish they'd had some magical image thing and included Stuart too.
  10. I really wish they'd done a retake of the Martin family photo - I don't think that's how Ray McDonnell or MEK would want to be remembered...
  11. It's tough for me to imagine Erica wouldn't be at this - she'd be in her element. That's why I wondered if she was on maternity leave. That's right. It's been so long since I've seen that episode. It would be interesting to think of how many characters who were on the show at this time but not at the gala - we saw that Kate, the kids, Ellen wasn't there. That leaves Nancy, Paul, a dozen others I'm forgetting...
  12. OLTL's 30th I do remember now, because I don't think they did anything, they just had a set of flashbacks at the end of each day for a week of episodes. The Youtube episode from the early 70s is 1971, I think, and the scenes mostly have Linc or Ann.
  13. There were twins, right, in the Donahue role? Or was that Terry Kiser?
  14. Finally got to see Trish's last scenes. I still think her leaving was a mistake... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7fTYXlZfYI This Charlotte story is so OTT. It's so alien to most of what GL was at its best, and the deliberate pacing of the Dobsons, Marland...even early Long.
  15. That scene is a much more fun soap parody than a lot of soap parodies have ever been. Is it me or does that Tomorrow's Another Day name, and logo, seem to be some sort of homage/dig at Search for Tomorrow?
  16. That's Barbara Rhoades? Geez. I should have known that. I blend several actresses of that era together - at one point I hoped it was Anita Morris, and wondered if it was a slimmer Edie McLurg... Is the nurse in this clip. towards the end? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_GLk2ZKtOk&feature=related I know this show has a lot of detractors. It's not the liveliest premiere (especially the narration), but it's OK.
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjCiWScF4TY
  18. Can anyone tell me who the actors were in the first scenes, the soap-within-a-soap? I know the man is John Gabriel (although he, as Pauline Kael would have said, seems to be wearing a John Gabriel mask), but I didn't know the others. The woman who fell down the stairs and got her memory back - I cracked up because I actually thought the soap was telling this as a real story. It's a clever hook, but the problem is I'm more interested in her character than in several of the regulars...
  19. Thanks, both of you. It's too bad they didn't keep Darcy around. What did you think of this story? I enjoy the acting but it seems a little OTT and rushed to me - I know that this ends with Charlotte's murder and her sister Alicia comes in and tries to frame someone. Rick's reaction at the end cracks me up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NduTx3Hqm-I
  20. For some reason I always thought Ruth was the tough mother and Kate the sweet grandmother, but Kate seems more like the taskmaster here.
  21. Did Phil come back after this? I thought he was gone by this time. I was doing the same thing in the other thread in the videobash session. Imagine how much ABC would make if they released all this stuff - we'd probably be up all night. I tried to space this out but didn't last a week.
  22. I would say it wasn't her but I think someone did call her Claudette, unless AMC brought in another caterer named Claudette just to insult the woman who played the other one Based on Brooke and Tom talking about the end of his marriage, I wonder if Erica had fled town after the birth control pill lie was uncovered. That was fall 1979 wasn't it?
