  1. Without saying anything specific, I loved all the episodes I had the privilege of watching before the premiere. However, episode four, and especially episode five, is where the show truly sets itself off. Things are really in place for the characters and make sense for the audience if you still had questions.
  2. The thread will be renamed starting Tuesday.
  3. Ron Carlivati is a breakdown writer, not a scriptwriter who actually writes the words the characters say. Regardless, Michele Val Jean as head writer and Robert Guza Jr. as co-head writer approve scripts before they are sent to the actors for filming. I haven't watched the segment myself, but if you're saying what I think she might have been saying without saying it, I believe I know what she might be referring to. To be clear, it's not about Ron Carlivati at all. That said, I won't taint the show with that nugget right now as it needs no negative press going in. It'll come out when the time is right (again, I didn't say ANYTHING!)

  8. Canadian soap fans who’ve been looking forward to watching the first brand new daytime drama series in more than 25 years from the beginning can breathe easy thanks to CHCH-TV. A spokesman for the independent television network owned by Channel Zero has confirmed to Soap Opera Network that CHCH holds the Canadian broadcast rights to the soap opera beginning with its premiere episode on Monday, February 24. The network will air new episodes of the series weekdays at 2:00 p.m. ET in simulcast with U.S. broadcaster CBS. Currently, CHCH only holds the linear TV rights to the series in Canada. Meanwhile, a streaming option is not available at this time in the country. We’re told Paramount Global Content Distribution, a division of Paramount Global, owner of CBS, will distribute the series internationally. At press time, no specific details had been announced by Paramount on where the series would air outside of the U.S. and Canada. In the U.S., “Beyond the Gates” airs weekdays at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on CBS, beginning Monday, February 24, and streams Live and On Demand on Paramount+. “Beyond the Gates” marks a return to the world of daytime soaps for CHCH as the network previously carried fresh episodes of “As The World Turns,” “Sunset Beach” and “The Young and the Restless,” with the latter series moving to Global TV in the early 1980s. Broadcasting since 1954, CHCH has been the news leader for Hamilton and the surrounding Halton and Niagara regions. Owned by the independent media company Channel Zero, the network is available to over 92% of Ontario households and is viewed by millions nationally each week. Watch a CHCH-branded promo for “Beyond the Gates” below. The TV Watercooler was the first to report the news of “Beyond the Gates” airing on CHCH. 9. I had to watch the opening several dozen times before it grew on me. I HATED it at first. The visuals are fine, but I was expecting something more upbeat like B&B or even GH (not saying those openings are good, just upbeat). But, after listening to it numerous times, I'm actually enjoying it.
  10. So, looks like CHCH WILL be the only Canadian network carrying Beyond the Gates as previously discussed. I just heard back from my contact at CBS Studios just now, but they unfortunately didn't communicate things correctly and made it seem like there was a PR going out this week, when in fact it was an announcement on the CHCH morning show (they have one?) I hate miscommunication... Fairmont Crest
  11. I'm sorry, but why I did I hear Christel Khalil say "money" in a way that she was referring to Beyond the Gates having some and The Young and the Restless having none? I'm terrible! (not yet trouble, haha) ------ Heads Up! There's more "CBS Mornings" coverage of "Beyond the Gates" coming with content from journalist Nancy Giles who did the "CBS Sunday Morning" feature last month. It'll air on Monday, February 24 (see info below) ahead of the show's premiere episode. Note: At this time, I'm not sure if it's with new footage from Giles or if she went back for another visit for "CBS Mornings." I presume it's additional footage. Nancy Giles goes behind the scenes of CBS’ new series BEYOND THE GATES with actors Clifton Davis, Tamara Tunie, Daphnée Duplaix and Karla Mosley
  12. There is a strict embargo in place until Monday, February 24.
  13. That's what I'm wondering/thinking. We'll see. I did find it odd the other day that only 12 of just 20 actors were shown in the opening. It's not like it's GH with 35 people on contract.
  14. My point was that the first episode was the same as the YouTube video posted by Soaps. Other variations might exist, but I'm referring specifically to the first of __ episodes that I saw which is the same one shown at tonight's Paley event (didn't attend). It's being said that a longer version aired the event but I'm not sure if they decided to extend the opening for just tonight's event for the episode or if they decided to add the longer one for the first episode when it airs on Monday. Either way, what I know of it, it was the YouTube version thus far.

  17. Cheers, the daytime soap opera opening iteration. I never watched the show because I was too young, but when someone shared this opening here on SON not too long ago I couldn't believe this was the opening, not just for a soap opera, but for a soap opera that's supposed to have been cutting edge with its inclusion of Black families and characters. This is by no means taking away from the show itself and what it represented, but that opening literally had me not surprised it got canned so quickly. We're talking about an era where even a theme song could make or break your show. These days, openings are 15 seconds (more if we're lucky). Back then, themes were EVERYTHING! That's interesting because the cut I saw from the first ___ episodes (I didn't say anything!) shows the same opening with 12 actors. Unless they opted to extend it with more people for when the show premieres on TV?
  18. After a two-year run on Amazon Freevee/Prime Video in the U.S. and the UK, among other territories, “Neighbours” will conclude its run in December, it was announced on Thursday. According to a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), the show is “resting” with all remaining new episodes from the show’s current 40th anniversary season continuing to air on Prime Video around the world and Australia’s Network Ten four times a week until the end of the year. The show promises it will continue providing all the “big soapie twists and turns that our viewers love” at its conclusion. “Audiences all around the world have loved and embraced ‘Neighbours’ for four decades and we are very proud of the huge success over the last two years including often appearing as one of the Top 10 titles in the UK and the show’s first-ever Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Daytime Series in 2024,” said executive producer Jason Herbison. “As this chapter closes, we appreciate and thank Amazon MGM Studios for all that they have done for ‘Neighbours’ – bringing this iconic and much-loved series to new audiences globally.” Herbison finished his statement, saying, “We value how much the fans love ‘Neighbours’ and we believe there are more stories of the residents of Ramsay Street to tell in the future.” http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2024/01/8320-Neighbours-at-Mark-Gottlieb-and-Lucy-Robinsons-Wedding-1024x683.jpgFreemantle A continuation of the long-running series, “Neighbours” revolved around the lives, loves, and challenges of the residents on Ramsay Street in Erinsborough, Australia, a fictional suburb of Melbourne. The continuation was picked up by Amazon two years after the finale in 2022 as a platform booster for the service’s now discontinued free streaming platform, Amazon Freevee, which was phased out and all its content moved to Prime Video, albeit remaining free for those not yet subscribed to Prime. In addition to new episodes, hundreds of episodes from previous seasons are available to stream on Prime Video, part of the two series-themed FAST Channels, “Neighbours – Looking Back” and “Best of Neighbours.” Check out our interview below with cast members Annie Jones, Stefan Dennis and Georgie Stone in honor of the show receiving its first-everDaytime Emmy Award nomination. At launch, the continuation starred Alan Fletcher, Annie Jones, Candice Leask, Emerald Chan, Georgie Stone, Hannah Monson, Jackie Woodburne, Lloyd Will, Lucinda Armstrong Hall, Lucinda Cowden, Majella Davis, Marley Williams, Matt Wilson, Naomi Rukavina, Rebekah Elmaloglou, Riley Bryant, Ryan Moloney, Sara West, Shiv Palekar, Stefan Dennis, Takaya Honda, Tim Kano and Xavier Molyneux as series regulars. Guest stars included: April Rose Pengilly, Costa D’Angelo, Georgia Walters, Guy Pearce, Ian Smith, Jessica Muschamp, Jodi Gordon, Melissa Bell, Mischa Barton, Nathan Borg, Viva Bianca, Trevor the Dog, and more recently Chrishell Stause. Watch the current opening title sequence for the series below. “Neighbours,” which ran for more than three decades during its initial run, having premiered March 18, 1985, was the longest-running drama series in Australian television history with millions of fans across the globe and helping launch the careers of several household names, including Margot Robbie, Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, and Russell Crowe, among others. The series first aired on the Seven Network in Australia before it was canceled a few months later due to its poor performance in the Sydney market. The show was later moved to the 10 network in 1986 and remained on the channel until 2010. In 2011, the show moved to 10 Peach, a free-to-air television channel run by Network 10. The show was abruptly canceled in 2022 when the UK’s Channel 5 announced it would no longer carry the series on its network. “‘Neighbours’ will no longer air on Channel 5 beyond this summer,” the broadcaster said at the time, after previously carrying the show since 2008. “We recognise that there will be disappointment about this decision, however our current focus is on increasing our investment in original UK drama, which has strong appeal for our viewers.” Amazon announced in early 2023 that it would bring back the Freemantle-produced series on a global basis through its streaming platform. Jason Herbison has served as the show’s executive producer since 2013. Andrew Thompson returned as a producer. Along with the UK and the U.S., Prime Video carried the series in Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Australia’s Network 10 retained first-run rights in Australia for the new chapter of the series. 19. As those will see at tonight's premiere, the P&G Studios logo will appear at the end of the show, but I didn't say anything.
  20. Just days before the show’s premiere, “Beyond the Gates” is giving fans a tease of its opening title sequence, which displays the full names of the show’s contract cast (a rarity among daytime soaps) and gives an aesthetic view of Fairmont Crest, the fictional location where the daytime drama series is set. According to Soaps.com, although there is only a select group of cast members displayed in the opening (shown below), others will appear in additional variations that will air throughout the week, similar to “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless,” which also have alternate versions of their opening sequence. At the forefront of at least the first released version are the core Dupree cast members: Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree ), Clifton Davis (Vernon Dupree), Daphnee Duplaix (Dr. Nicole Richardson Dupree) and Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree). They are joined by castmates Alex Alegria (Tomas “Tom” Navarro), Lauren Buglioli (Vanessa McBride), Sean Freeman (Andre Hamilton), Ben Gavin (Derek Baldwin), Maurice Johnson (Ted Richardson), Trisha Mann-Grant (Dana “Leslie” Thomas), Ambyr Michelle (Eva Thomas) and Colby Muhammad (Katherine “Kat” Richardson). Kurt Farquhar Courtesy At a run-time of about 30 seconds, the theme was composed by Kurt Farquhar whose credits also include such shows as “Girlfriends,” “The Neighborhood,” “Proud Family: Louder & Prouder” and “The King of Queens,” among others. According to a bio on his website, Farquhar was presented with the Hollywood Music in Media Career Achievement Award in 2022, and he is a nine-time BMI award winner, four for his work on “The King of Queens,” two for “Being Mary Jane” and “The Neighborhood,” and one for “The Game.” He is also a Los Angeles Confidential Impact Award Winner. Of the five regularly scheduled daytime dramas airing on television, only “Beyond the Gates” and “The Young and the Restless” feature the names of its contract cast members in their current openings. Watch the “Beyond the Gates” opening title sequence below. “Beyond the Gates” premieres Monday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on CBS, and will be available to stream Live and On Demand on Paramount+. Created by veteran soap opera writer Michele Val Jean, the series is developed and produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, led by Sheila Ducksworth, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. Alongside Val Jean, who also serves as head writer, executive producer and showrunner, executive producers include Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Robert Guza Jr., Leon W. 22. There's a glitch with the birthdate requirement. It doesn't let you manually enter a date, instead, you have to cycle through months/years (time waster) just to get to your actual birthday (if you choose to disclose). Otherwise, if you don't correct it (showing you are 18+), you get an error indicating you are not "eligible" (for what?).
