Correct. I did notice a name in the EP list (Tracey Thompson) when I was editing my article earlier and reached out to find what's what. We'll soon find out. I do know that there have been changes at the writing team, but I can't go into details just yet.

ARTICLE: 'Beyond the Gates' Renewed For Season 2 at CBS
The show was initially given a one-year pickup, which, based on scheduling, would have seen the show conclude in December since production was set to end in August had the show not been renewed. With the renewal, the show is set to continue airing through the 2025-2026 TV season, which should take it through the end of August/September, in this case, airing-wise. By that point, we'll have known whether the show will continue for Season 3, as each year will likely have us on the edge of our seats whether the show will continue or not (unless given multiple seasons at some point).

ARTICLE: 'Beyond the Gates' Renewed For Season 2 at CBS
It should be noted that with the Beyond the Gates renewal news, this makes General Hospital the only daytime drama series not receiving announcements on its future. Like "Good Morning America," "This Week" and "World News Tonight" at ABC, among others, the daytime drama series will continue airing unless the network states otherwise.

ARTICLE: 'Beyond the Gates' Renewed For Season 2 at CBS
Fans of “Beyond the Gates” can rest easy following an announcement on Monday by CBS that the network has renewed the daytime drama series for a second season. The news comes one week after series stars Daphnée Duplaix (Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson) and Trisha Mann-Grant (Dana "Leslie" Thomas) discussed the future of the series on an Instagram Live, wondering when the network would let the cast and crew know the show's status beyond its current first season. As pointed out by Mann-Grant, the news was expected sometime this month. Since its premiere on Monday, February 24, the series has improved its time period by +48% among Total Viewers, according to Most Current and Season-to-Date ratings data released on Monday by Nielsen. Additionally, factoring in multiplatform viewership, the show is up +67% from last year’s time period occupant ("The Talk") and is topping its time slot competitor, ABC’s “General Hospital,” by +7% among the key Women 25-54 sales demographic used to sell ad rates for broadcast television. Produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, led by Sheila Ducksworth, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble, the series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. Set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, D.C., in one of the most affluent African American counties in the United States, the series follows an affluent Black family, the Duprees, who hold court over Fairmont Crest, a posh gated community that’s the center of luxury with wealthy residents harboring deep secrets. Behind the pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. The series is created and executive produced by Michele Val Jean, who also serves as showrunner and head writer. Additional executive producers include Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thompson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner and Anna Saalfeld. The cast includes Tamara Tunie, Clifton Davis, Daphnée Duplaix, Karla Mosley, Alex Alegria, Lauren Buglioli, Brandon Claybon, Timon Kyle Durrett, Sean Freeman, Ben Gavin, Marquita Goings, Jibre Hordges, Jen Jacob, Trisha Mann-Grant, Mike Manning, RhonniRose Mantilla, Ambyr Michelle, Colby Muhammad and Arielle Prepetit. New cast member Keith D. Robinson takes over the role of Dr. Ted Richardson beginning Thursday, May 15. LATEST RATINGS: April 28 - May 2, 2025
Based on data released by Nielsen today, which highlighted broadcast-only viewership based on most current ratings, it sounds like the CBS soaps at least gain just 300-400,000 viewers when factoring in multiplatform ratings, a far cry from the millions of viewers streaming-only programming typically generates. I estimate that General Hospital is the most popular soap opera overall on streaming, with likely more than 1 million viewers, as the Hulu list is not an easy one to get on. With Peacock being anything but a huge success, I presume that DAYS is doing at least 500,000 viewers. Now, while I'm basing my estimations specifically on Nielsen's tracking, not necessarily data from the streaming services outright, I do think Paramount isn't excluding the success of their daytime shows in their Top 10 lists. I do think that is a true representation of how successful the programs on the platform are, and the CBS daytime shows sadly don't rank in that list. It is possible they could be #11, #12, or even #15.

ARTICLE: ‘The Price Is Right’ & ‘The Young And The Restless’ Lead CBS To Win 2024-2025 Broadcast Season – RATINGS
As the 2024-2025 broadcast television season closes out, CBS has retained its lead as the most-watched network in daytime for the 39th season (since the 1986-1987 season) and has won an impressive 1,500 consecutive weeks, the longest winning streak on record, according to Most Current and Season-to-Date ratings data released on Monday by Nielsen*. CBS had the top three daytime shows led by “The Price is Right” (3.95 million) in first place followed by “The Young and the Restless” (3.29 million) in second and “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.79 million) in third, with all three ranking among the top daytime programs for the 13th consecutive season (since the 2012-2023 season) or 571 of 615 weeks. Factoring in the Most Current and Season-to-Date ratings for “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.21 million) and “Beyond the Gates” (1.82 million), the network is averaging 2.76 million viewers overall. “Beyond the Gates,” the newest series to join the daypart, is up +48% over former time slot occupant “The Talk.” In terms of the network’s “weekly consecutive streak,” it should be noted that while the network’s streak started on October 3, 1988 during a period when Ronald Reagan was president and floppy discs were still the standard mechanism for saving data, the overall streak did see an interruption during the week of July 22-29, 1996 due to NBC‘s broadcast of the Atlanta Summer Olympic games. Since then, CBS has maintained its lead for 1,500 consecutive weeks, approximately 28 years and eight months. While a breakdown was not provided, CBS is seeing across-the-board gains for each of its daytime dramas among streaming viewership, each up year-over-year and seeing double-digit lifts over their broadcast-only averages. In addition to leading daytime as the most-watched daytime program season-to-date, “The Price is Right” has also ranked No.1 for 691 of the last 701 consecutive weeks. Similarly, “The Young and the Restless” continues to rank as the most-watched daytime drama series for more than 36 years or 1,878 consecutive weeks, a streak that excludes amended title weeks, those that deviated from the show’s official title, specifically repeats that aired under the “Young & Restless” moniker during the pandemic era. Note*: All milestones include ties and data factoring in Live+Same Day and Live Pre-DVR before 12/26/2005, excluding breakouts, sustainers, specials, amended titles, and news programming except for “GMA3” variations. Milestones also do not include the week of 1/27/20, when most daytime shows were preempted for the Trump Impeachment Hearings, and the week of 10/29/12, when all programming was broken out due to Hurricane Sandy coverage. BTG: First-ever role recast!
We must remember that we don't know why the show recast the role, particularly before the show debuted. There's been no indication in either direction whether it was the show's decision or if the actor requested to leave. Per Daphnée Duplaix in her Instagram Live with Trisha Mann-Grant, the cast was informed via an email on a Sunday of the casting change. When reaching out to Maurice, she said he declined to explain at an event in Atlanta or even the Instagram Live itself. Until production or Johnson comes out and says the reason, we can only speculate. Here's a full-length version that I didn't include in the article:

ARTICLE: R.I.P. Denise Alexander – ‘General Hospital’ & ‘Days of our Lives’ Actress Dies At 85
Best known for her portrayal as Dr. Lesley Webber on “General Hospital,” actress Denise Alexander has died. At the time of her death, which was Wednesday, March 5, she was 85 years old. No official cause of death was announced at press time. Born November 11, 1939, in New York City, Alexander made her daytime drama debut in 1960 playing Lois Adams in the short-lived series “The Clear Horizon” before making a name for herself in the role of Susan Hunter Martin on “Days of our Lives” in 1966. After contract negotiations hit a standstill in 1973 with the then-NBC soap, she went on to join the cast of “General Hospital.” “It was Betty Corday [then executive producer of ‘Days of our Lives’] who sent me to ‘General Hospital,’” said Alexander in a 2010 interview with We Love Soaps. “She said, ‘You must do this.’ So when I went to ‘General Hospital,’ they didn’t have a character for me. They had a character that was coming in, a woman doctor who was going to have a romance with John Beradino [Steve Hardy]. And that was obviously wrong for me or for John, but they took the character and a couple of scripts of her arrival [that] they had written and had to scramble to create a storyline.” Speaking of her character on “Days of our Lives,” Alexander told the outlet at the time that the character was initially a bad girl who got thrown out of boarding school for drinking and smoking. “The character caught on and sparked something with the audience, and that is how Susan became an important part of the show,” Alexander noted. “I was there for almost seven years…. I had such a wonderful time on Days. It was like going to camp every day for me. I loved the people, loved the show, and loved what I got to do. They loved the character and liked me as an actor and gave me lots of neat stuff to do. I didn’t even ask for a vacation for five years because if I worked 365 days a year, I thought I was great. It was a very good time in my life.” During her run on “General Hospital,” it was the Lesley, Rick Webber (Chris Robinson) and Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) triangle that drove fans wild before the era of Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and Laura Vining (Genie Francis), Lesley’s daughter. Denise Alexander, Genie Francis ABC Alexander exited the daytime drama series in 1984, with Lesley being killed off. It wasn’t until 1996 that the show decided to bring the character back to the canvas, with the understanding she had been held captive for all those years by the resurrected Cassadines, a family that interfered in the lives of Luke and Laura during the 1980s. Alexander appeared on a recurring basis on the series from that point on through 2009, while also making drop in appearances in 2013, 2017, 2019 and most recently in 2021, following news that Laura had acquired two paternal half brothers — Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight). In 1976, Alexander received her first and only Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series for her portrayal of Lesley Webber. Outside of “The Clear Horizon,” “Days of our Lives” and “General Hospital,” Alexander would also appear on several other soap operas, including “Another World,” “Sunset Beach” and “Port Charles,” a spinoff of “General Hospital.” Meanwhile, her other credits included roles on “The Detectives,” “Hotel,” “This is the Life,” “Combat!” and “The Danny Thomas Show.” One of her more recent credits includes a 10-episode run on the digital drama “Pretty the Series.” Speaking with TV Insider on the death of her TV mom, Francis said, “I loved her. She loved me.” “I stole her good stuff. When I look at myself sometimes on television, which I don’t do often because I don’t really like to watch myself, but I have seen myself do stuff and been kind of taken aback because I realized I just did Denise,” continued Francis. “So when I say I stole her good stuff, I’m saying I was so young, she imprinted on me. And some of my acting, some of my style of acting, was directly imprinted on me by Denise Alexander. And she was very, very good to me as I was growing up.” Alexander is survived by her stepdaughter, Elizabeth Colla, from her marriage to the late Richard A. Colla, who passed on December 24, 2021, also aged 85. Check out a promo for the show’s 56th anniversary special episode, aired in 2019, below. Note: The post R.I.P. ARTICLE: FIRST LOOK: Keith D. Robinson As Dr. Ted Richardson On ‘Beyond The Gates’ – PHOTOS
As previously reported, Keith D. Robinson will assume the role of Dr. Ted Richardson on “Beyond the Gates” beginning with the Thursday, May 15 episode. He replaces Maurice Johnson, who originated the role when the daytime drama series debuted in February. Robinson will share some of his first scenes with Colby Muhammad‘s Kat, Ted’s daughter, who, in the episode, makes a bold move that turns the tables on Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) and could finally bring her down. Elsewhere, Eva (Ambyr Michelle) searches for a connection on her birthday while Ashley (Jen Jacob) and Derek (Ben Gavin) tiptoe around a growing divide. Will their love be enough to keep the two together? You’ll just have to tune in to find out. It’s understood that the transition from Johnson to Robinson as Ted will be seamless, with no significant gap between actors. Robinson began taping his scenes in February. Check out a photo from Robinson’s first episode below. Colby Muhammad, Keith D. Robinson Chris Reel/CBS Check out a promo for next week’s episodes below, which includes Johnson still in the role. ARTICLE: ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Fully Preempted Due To Election Of Cardinal Robert Prevost As New Pope, Leo XIV
Due to the breaking news coverage on the election of Cardinal Robert Prevost as the 267th pontiff, carrying the papal name Leo XIV, the first American in history, “The Bold and the Beautiful” was fully preempted by CBS, which resulted in episodes being pushed by one day. As a result, the episode originally scheduled to air on Thursday, May 8 will now air on Friday, May 9. The episode will see Luna vowing to go against all odds to find a way to have a relationship with Finn (Tanner Novlan), her newly discovered biological father, while Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) shares details with Hope (Annika Noelle) about Liam’s (Scott Clifton) medical condition. In time zones not impacted by the preemption, CBS carried episode #8820, which first aired Monday, August 1, 2022. The episode saw Steffy and Finn reunite in Monaco. Meanwhile, Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) muscled her way into Deacon’s (Sean Kanan) place with a crazy story and a desperate request. “Congratulations to Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who was just named Pope,” said President Donald J. Trump in a statement he posted to Truth Social. “It is such an honor to realize that he is the first American Pope. What excitement, and what a Great Honor for our Country. I look forward to meeting Pope Leo XIV. It will be a very meaningful moment!” After the death of Pope Francis on April 21, the 133 cardinals who make up the Catholic Church’s highest-ranking clergy gathered in the secret conclave in Rome on Wednesday, May 7 to begin the election process for the new pope. Just after 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, May 8, white smoke could be seen rising above the Sistine Chapel, indicating that the cardinals had chosen a new pope, marking the third consecutive time a pope had been elected after just the second day of the conclave, with Benedict XVI and Francis being the other two. John Paul II was appointed on the third day. Chicago-born Cardinal Robert Prevost, 69, was revealed to the world as Pope Leo XIV less than an hour after the white smoke, as more than 50,000 onlookers awaited his first words in Vatican City. “Peace be with you,” he said in his first public remarks. “This is the face of Christ risen, a disarming and humble face. A God that loves us all unconditionally. We confirm with our ears the weak but always courageous voice of Pope Francis, who blessed Rome. The pope who blessed Rome gave his blessing to the entire world that Easter morning. Allow me to follow that blessing. God loves us, God loves us all. Evil will not prevail; we are in the hands of God. Let us go forward without fear, hand in hand, as disciples of Christ. The world needs his light. Humanity needs his light.” Note: The post ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Fully Preempted Due To Election Of Cardinal Robert Prevost As New Pope, Leo XIV appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. ARTICLE: ‘Beyond The Gates’ Stars Daphnée Duplaix & Trisha Mann-Grant Discuss Future Of Soap During Instagram Live
During a recent Instagram Live, “Beyond the Gates” stars Daphnée Duplaix (Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson) and Trisha Mann-Grant (Dana “Leslie” Thomas) revealed that the daytime drama series is awaiting a renewal order from CBS, with news on the show’s future expected sometime later this month, if not in June. As the two were discussing the show’s most recent episodes, specifically where Nicole discovered that her husband, Ted (played by departing cast member Maurice Johnson), had a previous relationship with Leslie that resulted in the birth of Eva (Ambyr Michelle), Nicole’s new assistant. They also discussed how great the cast involved in the storyline has been, while also complimenting the show’s writing team for the “amazing dialogue.” Before getting into the thick of things, however, Duplaix brought up that the show is awaiting word from the network on its future. “Beyond The Gates” CBS “When are we gonna find out if we got picked up? We’re still waiting,” asked Duplaix. “I mean, why are you torturing me? Why are you doing this?” she added with a laugh. In response, Mann-Grant noted, “It’s soon, I think, like, around June, we should find out.” Pointing out that “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” have both already received renewal orders for additional seasons, three for the former and four for the latter, Duplaix commented, “I’m like, ‘Clock, just tell us we got one more and then you can, like, figure the rest of it out later.” “I think before June, sometime this month, we’re supposed to find out, and hey, listen, it would be an upset, right?” Mann-Grant shared, referring to the response the network would receive should the show not be renewed for at least another year. “That’s what I would say … they can’t do that to us. There’s no way! But, anyway, anything could happen. We’re in the business that, you know…,” responded Duplaix, who didn’t finish her thought, but alluded to the current economic situation surrounding TV shows and their ability to stay on the air long-term. Ordered to series in April 2024, “Beyond the Gates” officially began production in late October/early November 2024, when it began taping its first episodes at its Atlanta-based studio. While the first episode aired on February 24, 2025, and more than 120 episodes have been produced since, the soap opera has aired just 47 episodes, averaging 2.1 million viewers across multiplatform viewing, per Nielsen (via Deadline). On Wednesday, CBS announced eight new shows and 18 returning shows as part of its 2025-2026 primetime schedule. Watch the full conversation between Duplaix and Mann-Grant below. Note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly spelled Daphnée's last name. The correct spelling is Duplaix, not Dupliax.
