INSIDER SPOTLIGHT: FRANCES REID (ALICE) STOPS BY TO TALK ABOUT LANNA SAUNDERS' PASSING, HER RETURN TO THE FRONTBURNER, AND WHY SHE IS STILL GOING STRONG 42 YEARS LATER.

Interviewer (I): Hello Francis. It's so good to have you here.

Frances Reid (FR): Hello, dear. I am happy to be here.

I: I know you can't stay long so let's get right to it. This week, Salem Lives is going to have a tribute to the late Lanna Saunders, who passed away recently. They decided to also write off the character of Marie as well despite Marie Cheathem being the role's originator. Do you agree with this decision and how do you feel about this tribute?

FR: Well, let me say that Lanna was wonderful. She was a gifted actress and we all loved her so. It's hitting all of us that worked with her hard. I think what we are doing is wonderful. It's been dealt with properly and I think they felt that having the character of Marie pass as well was a good way to go to have a fitting tribute. I don't think it means any disrespect to Marie Cheathem. We all love her too and my understanding was they talked to her and there was no problem with this. I just think it's a lovely tribute and it's almost like an emotional journey. The fans will get emotional and feel they are right there with us. It's very fitting and moving.

I: You have been seeing alot of time in the limelight lately. How long has it been since you have worked this much and how do you feel about getting so much play recently?

FR: Great!!! I have never turned down working when asked. When the new writers came on last year, they told me they wanted to use me as much as they could and they have. They have me in the thick of things with my family and friends and it's great because it's not just me being there for an appearance. I am active, giving advice, and getting some good material. That is really true lately with Marie's death. That is the the most powerful stuff I have had to play in years.

I: You have been playing Alice Horton for over 42 years and have been acting for much longer. How do you keep going at this pace, especially with your increased workload, and how long do you plan to do this?

FR: I will do this for as long as I can. I love doing what I do. Always have. I dont want to slow down at all. They can have me work everyday. I will be there.

I: Thanks so much for talking with us. I know you have to finish filming some more scenes so we appreciate it.
