Totally agree. Van's version of Lucas is one of the rare cases of a personality-transplant recast that really works. He doesn't really seem like the same character Ryan Carnes was playing, but this sassier Lucas is much more interesting to watch and can be more easily integrated into various storylines, as Van has a natural chemistry with Laura Wright, Becky Herbst, Maura West, and even Kelly Thiebauld.
Speaking of Britt, I liked her scenes with Jude okay, and I thought the actor was strong, but I still find it off-putting that he looks so similar to so many of the other guys on the show. I suppose that could come in handy if they eventually want to make him Tristan's older brother or something. But he'll probably end up being a de-aged Jerry Jax, secretly working with Hudson to bring down JJE.
The other scenes that almost but didn't quite work for me yesterday were with Jason and Serena. I see what they're going for, and I think Kelly Kruger is trying her best, but she and Steve Burton don't have much onscreen chemistry, and she can't quite pull off the light comic touch these scenes require. As I was watching them, I was thinking how much better an actress like Melissa Archer or even Molly Burnett would work in this role.
