SAG-AFTRA, Actors Union

Announcing a one-year extension of the National Code of Fair Practice for Network Television Broadcasting Agreement (better known as the Network Television Code) last year, SAG-AFTRA and the four major television broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX), along with other producers, committed to begin negotiations on a full three-year successor agreement no later than Monday, June 2, 2025. We’re now less than 30 days away from those talks commencing.

The extension, which went into effect on July 1, 2024 and runs through June 30, 2025, built on the original 2021-2024 agreement that was scheduled to expire on June 30, 2024.

The following additions were made as part of the extension:

  • All minimum rates shall be increased by 7% (including program fees, Extra rehearsal rates, excess work day rates and overtime rates) for all classifications other than background actors and stand-ins.
  • Minimum rates for background actors and stand-ins shall be increased by 11% (including program fees, extra rehearsal rates, excess work day rates and overtime rates).
  • The contribution rate for the SAG-AFTRA Health Plan is increased by 0.5% effective Jan. 1, 2025.
  • Substantial protections in artificial intelligence, similar to what was achieved in TV/Theatrical and Television Animation negotiations.

The union’s negotiating committee consists of principal performers, background actors, stand-ins, promo announcers, singers and dancers.

Generating more than $200 million annually in covered member earnings, the Network Television Code encompasses programming in nearly all television dayparts as well as programming produced for streaming.

Current programs covered by the agreement include dramas in first-run syndication, morning news shows, talk shows, serials (soap operas), variety, reality, contests, sports and promotional announcements.

Shows specifically covered include the likes of “Good Morning America,” “The Young and the Restless,” “General Hospital,” “Saturday Night Live,” “The Masked Singer,” “The Voice,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” the Oscars and even the Super Bowl, among countless other program options.

    • I think Evie came in mid 1976 after Rita broke up with Tim because she realized she was leading him on.  And Evie became upset with Rita because she didn't tell her that she had previously dated Tim before she came to town.
    • Please stop, you were wrong, and you know it, now you're trying to back pedal. You even got called out by the DAYS actors/actresses on Twitter for that sh*t. It was disgusting and vile and IMO the family should have taken action against you It was clear the general public did not know about his illness and it was NOT your place to "spill the beans" just because you run a Facebook group, period! TBH IMO @Errol should have banned you ages ago Donna
    • Who went bowling? JFP & Anna? Is there any more to this?
    • Another character driven show with interconnecting plots that make sense. I like that we go from one character, like Sarah, learning that EJ wants to buy the hospital, casually mentioning it to Xander who now has that intel. The only down today was not seeing Steve and Shawn breaking into the lab. I wonder if Dr Poofy Hair will inform EJ about Xander's call. I loved Abe talking to Chanel about losing Isaac and giving her comfort. And helping her voice her fears about Johnny. Kayla standing up to EJ is great. Kayla, freed from Ron, has been great. I am loving all her air time. And Sarah telling her that EJ must be up to something if he wants the hospital is very smart. She would probably clue in to the sepsis research being the big thing if she wasn't choking to death. I assume Felicity messed up the scones and dropped in cleaning fluid or something. Sarah said it tasted weird. They are never getting that honeymoon, are they? Xander has no clue what job Johnny can do. Johnny knows this too. Xander wants to legitimize his takeover by hiring a Dimera. Johnny wants to stick it to EJ. The honesty is refreshing. I want to like Cat and Chad but they are just so awkward. And none of their scenes work for me. Marlena and EJ was very good. I like her wanting to help him but also scared to death for Belle. Makes perfect sense that she is conflicted. I also liked her softly asking Johnny if he needed her to stay once EJ walked in. Ron never cared about this relationship either, but now she is acting like his granny.
    • Sorry, catching up, and the bolded part, yes! Should have been sued by DH's family for that nasty sh*t too   Anywho, back to the show, Kristina is freaking nuts, she needs to be committed ASAP
    • Angry Dante was hot; sorry, but I'm not going to pretend it wasn't awesome seeing Dominic Zamprogna act his ass off in a way that was not crying.
    • Thanks, interesting and so believable (no Lonatrat or Clones...)Instead of the Lewis family he should have made the Oil family Granger...even if the audience didn't remember that one off character it would have been interesting to tie it into the fictional GL world.
    • Dante needs stick removed from his butt
    • When you bring up what I like to call "Shapiro's Folly" you think Dano's acting choices mattered? I ask because I don't think so. As far as I could tell almost universally the ABC fans hated the very idea of her being on all 4 shows! And, BTW, the headwriters also hated it, at least according to comments made by Passanante. But, it is not hard to imagine that they'd feel that way. And, I agreed. If she wanted success she should have planted "Rae" on one & given up her idea of branding, or whatever it was that she was after.
