CBS on Thursday announced that “Beyond the Gates” premiered with 2.28 million viewers in Live+3, up +78% over the year ago performance of former timeslot holder “The Talk.”

Among the key sales demographics, the new soap also topped the year ago performance of “The Talk” by +56% among both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54.

Streaming viewership amounted for +13.6% of the increased audience, better than the +12.6% increase for “The Bold and the Beautiful” and the +10.9% bump seen by “The Young and the Restless.”

Among Live+7 viewing, the premiere episode on Monday, February 24 averaged 3.0 million viewers, slightly better than the 2.96 million who tuned in for the first episode of NBC’s “Passions,” the last daytime drama series to debut on network television back on July 5, 1999. At that time, television viewing did not include streaming, with hundreds of programs now competing for attention by viewers at all hours of the day, which shows the demand for “Beyond the Gates” was increasingly high.

Overall, “Beyond the Gates” averaged 5.2 million unique viewers (6 mins of viewing) during the week of February 24-28, 2025, the show’s first full week on the air, Nielsen ata shows.

Among Total Viewers, “Beyond the Gates” and time slot competitor “General Hospital” were in a virtual tie (2.02 million) among Live+Same Day viewing, while the CBS drama pulled ahead of ABC among Adults 25-54.

Black viewers made up 55% of the new show’s audience, a hefty increase over the comparable performance of “The Bold and the Beautiful” (30%), “The Young and the Restless” (29%) and “General Hospital” (22%).

Keep checking Soap Opera Network for a full breakdown of how “Beyond the Gates” performed opposite its soap opera competition in the key sales demographics of Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, including the dailies.
