ARTICLE: Kim Zimmer To Star In Theatre Raleigh Arts Center Production of ‘The Trip To Bountiful’

Former “Guiding Light” and “One Life to Live” star Kim Zimmer is set to play the lead role in the Theatre Raleigh Arts Center production of “The Trip to Bountiful.”

The play follows Carrie Watts (Zimmer), an elderly woman from the south who dreams of escaping the busy city and seeks a return to rural Bountiful, Texas. While setting out on a journey to her beloved hometown with her family in hot pursuit, Carrie encounters kindness and compassion … and discovers the true meaning of home.

“Oh boy! Here we go! And now those wonderful butterflies in my stomach begin!” commented Zimmer on Instagram, announcing her participation.

In addition to Zimmer, the cast includes Will Ray who plays Ludie Watts, Dana Costello as Jessie Mae Watts, Casey Wortham as Thelma, Trevor Johnson as Ray and Brian Westbrook as the Sherrif. 

Tickets for “The Trip to Bountiful” are set to go on sale Monday, February 24 with the play set to run from Wednesday, March 26 through Sunday, April 6.

Zimmer is best known to daytime fans for her portrayal as Reva Shayne on “Guiding Light” and Echo DiSavoy on “One Life to Live.” She most recently starred in the film “Bleeding Love,” working alongside Ewan McGregor and Clara McGregor.
