Following yesterday’s games on FOX and CBS, respectively, the Chiefs took home the AFC Championship title against the Buffalo Bills (32-29) while the Eagles beat out the Washington Commanders (55-23) for the NFC Championship title. The FOX game (NFC Championship) aired in the afternoon while the CBS game (AFC Championship) aired in primetime. Fast national ratings for each game will be released later today. This year’s matchup marks the fifth time in six years that the Chiefs will have played during the biggest sports night of the year, and the second time in eight years for the Eagles. The Chiefs previously won the title game in 2020, 2023 and 2024 while the Eagles last won in 2018. It is also the first time that the two teams will have played opposite each other during a Super Bowl game since Super Bowl LVII on February 12, 2023, when the Chiefs beat the Eagles (38-35). The game also aired on FOX. Leading the Chiefs is quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has won three Super Bowl rings during his tenure, while the Eagles are led by Jalen Hurts, who will attempt to win his first ring when Super Bowl LIX from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
