I actually needed to stop, google Rory and try (in vain) to recall even one scene with him.  That's how hard I struggle these days with the 42,000 people who are on this damn show (41,980 of whom Frank refuses to fire).

The show also never really committed to Trina and Gio. He was making cow eyes at Joss even as we were told he was supposed to care about Trina. Many Trina fans loathe Joss, with good reason. The optics were awful and yet again reminded them that a black woman isn't good enough, especially one who so degrades herself to the point of calling herself a "bitch" at Joss' mercy. Frank isn't going to have one of his himbos with someone the show doesn't see as the ideal.

Even if the show had actually cared about a Trina/Gio pairing, some fans would have objected, undoubtedly, but that is just how a lot of overzealous fans are. Liz fans have hated all her pairings for many years, and she still gets stuck in them. They were never seriously committed to putting Trina with a white man, especially one we are meant to love. And this C-pairing with Kai will likely just serve as a "well, here's something, leave us alone," until Trina leaves next year, never to be mentioned again.

They do. Even Stella, who was used well under Mulcahey and had a good response, is not getting those moments now. The show has been visibly afraid to give anything beyond a crumb of a crumb to black characters, and the election results likely just confirmed every fear or prejudice.

I agree that Simone felt more centered, and the show would never make that effort today, no matter how dull Tom was (he was still seen as an important character at the time).

Oh, man.  I forgot GH was preempted today and got a real jump scare when the show opened with Finn/Violet.

What a horrible episode to show on a holiday.  GH can't dig out a Christmas episode from the past?  Even the recent past?

Yep, I agree. There's no reason to show Blaze ever again, and my hatred of Natalia continues.

Who in the hell chooses these repeats? Violet? Because GH never gets it right.

-- Lots of great comments on these pages about Trina, Gio, Lulu, and others. Still, I don't think they're going to listen to any of us. Have you seen the streaming numbers? Last week, GH was number 1 on Hulu for most of the week and in the top 5 every day. I'm sure they see those numbers and tell themselves how awesome it's all going.

Surprisingly, Violet isn't even the worst part of it all.  It just a sad episode where Gregory dies and Dex is all beat up with everyone begging him not to turn Sonny in.  At least show Brook Lynn and Chase's wedding if it has to be from that time period.  That was a happy event that is fitting for a holiday.

No idea.  Probably.  Babies do die on the show, but a lot of them don't hence the reason we have 15 kids on the canvas right now of varying ages.

    • That's how I feel. Beats could have been played for the past couple months wherein Dante and Gio interacted and had a difference of opinion -- or something. I don't know. I do know that this crushing rant that blames everything on Gio is absurd. -- Reading over all the comments here about characters and couples, it's kind of amazing that we have any show left considering the number of times actors and writers and execs were given influence to make major character and story decisions. Too many cooks in the kitchen.
    • Lol. But Jeffrey was weak to mama. Leslie can go dead because anger is a great motivator via Martin defending HIS mama and just not taking ish altogether. This ain't how it should be. They need not run the show like this. It's too noticeable.
    • Oh, I see! You posted this on the general retro soap thread because of the voiceover.
    • Yeah, I agree. It's part of the reason I have shade picked on Martin's Secret being so on the backburner that it was about to fall off of it. With Dani/Bill/Hayley being the main tale to start us off and backburned and the SilkPress storyline being well paced, but not set to explode until May, Martin's Secret was the other main storyline that could have been developed. And after giving it a nice slow burn to start off, the story upped and vanished in Month 2. That left the show having to rely on mostly B/C stories to stay afloat to various degrees of success.
    • I loved those scenes, lol. I thought I was watching a stage play. But I do hear what you're saying.
    • Jason47's episode summaries clarify everything. https://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/days-daily-summaries-1990-1999-t14806-s150.html The construction company is "AJ Construction" (AJ = Adrienne+Justin).   Jencon Oil was building an oil refinery at the construction site.  This was adjacent to the park. Kirk Geiger played the character Chad Webster. The character Chad was an actor in the movie being made.   The child friend with Shawn-Douglas is his cousin Andrew Donovan. A few episodes prior, Andrew and Shawn-Douglas were at the park playing hide-and-seek. They wandered off where they shouldn't have gone, by slipping through the gate onto the construction site.  Shawn-D fell into the hole at the oil refinery. There were several episodes of trying to rescue Shawn-D.  Finally Carly rescued Shawn-D, but he was discovered to be deaf.  Andrew felt bad, but Bo and Shane both understood that it was an accident.  Carly later taught Shawn-D sign language. Shawn-D was played by Scott Groff. Andrew was played by Bradley Michael Pierce. pics here: https://web.archive.org/web/20070404163013/http://www.childrenofsalem.com/days/kids/shawnandrew/shawnandrew.html Larger context here: https://web.archive.org/web/20080614054207/http://www.bethsdayspage.com/days/riverfrontraider.htmlhttps://web.archive.org/web/20080614054207/http://www.bethsdayspage.com/days/riverfrontraider.html
    • I had a situation last week where I could watch the new episode on Paramount Plus on my laptop, but it wasn't even listed on my TV as an option.
