ABC and the Television Academy announced today that “The 76th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards” will air LIVE coast to coast from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15, from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. EDT/5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. PDT.

Although a host and producers for the telecast have yet to be decided upon, the network and the organization noted that those details will be announced at a later date. Further, Hulu will be the streaming home for ABC’s telecast, which will become available on the service the next day.

Nominations for “The 76th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards” will be announced Wednesday, July 17.

News of ABC’s broadcasting the next Emmy broadcast comes less than a month after FOX aired its much-delayed telecast of the 75th Emmy Awards due to the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. That ceremony marked a new low among Total Viewers for the awards show, averaging just 4.3 million viewers over its three-hour broadcast on Monday, January 15. The previous low was the 2022 telecast, with just 5.92 million viewers tuning in when NBC carried the awards show. 

Compared to the last time FOX aired the Primetime Emmys in 2019, only 6.9 million people watched. The last time more than 10 million viewers tuned in for the Primetime Emmys was NBC’s broadcast in 2018.

In 2020, the last time ABC broadcast the Primetime Emmys, Jimmy Kimmel (“Jimmy Kimmel Live!”) hosted, something he’s done every time the network has aired the awards show since 2012. Only 6.4 million viewers tuned into that diluted pandemic-era awards show, which took place at the Crypto.com Arena (then known as the Staples Center).
