Cropping My Avatar Pic?

Is it me or is the crop tool for editing avatar pics not working well?

I'm attempting to crop my pic to feature only the two people in the center, but it keeps showing the entire family picture.

Is there a way to correct this issue in here or do I have to suck it up and crop it offline?
