Members juniorz1
So would you have preferred they not pulled their ads? I'm sorry, I just don't see it the way that you do. I see it as business savvy with the added bonus that ABC got some bad publicity and the ad $$$ that they were spending at ABC is now going to another network. You make soap fans sound like a bunch of friggin retards who immediately ran to the store and bought a Hoover vacuum out of sheer gratitude that they spoke out against the cancellations and pulled their commercials from the ABC soaps. It's ridiculous! And rallies that are held outside ABC's New York studios with Poster Board and Magic Markers hardly need sponsoring. Maybe I'm seeing the glass 1/2 (or even 3/4) full and am just grateful that they did something. What were they gonna do, make T-Shirts that say "SOS: SAVE OUR SOAPS" and on the back says "........BY A HOOP You're making mountains out of molehills man- and I don't see the point of wasting all this energy being angry at Hoover for making a calculated PR move when it can be focussed on keeping the remaining 4 shows on the air or boycotting ABC. This whole thread is meaningless and silly to me. It smacks of "Yeah.....but so what?"
Members JackPeyton
Oh, i bet some did. And THIS is why i do not understand the soap extreme fans hating Oprah for... being blunt, honest, speaking out? She could have said "Maybe, keep writing in and watching OWN! We will see!" with no intentions of ever doing anything.
Members chyti
Yeah, I am pretty sure some soap fans ran out and brought a hoover and like Max said it's not losing any money if you have some to replace Hoover ad spot also I doubt that ABC cares that Hoover took there business elsewhere. I understand what Max is saying about endorsing the rallies it would have gave the rally more weight and all they needed to do is make press release where they pose their endorsement. What I don't understand is soap fans boycotting Disney/ABC this is not hurting them at all since there is no way to determine who is no longer supporting them and it is too little a group to put a dent in their pockets.
