Hotel Cæsar

"Hotel Cæsar" is a Norwegian soap series, and has lasted from 1998 and is still running. It's shown on Norwegian TV 2 Monday to Thursday 19.30. The show is about a hotel (obviously...), and both about the family that owns the hotel (Anker-Hansen) and the employees at the hotel. Read more about it on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_C%C3%A6sar

I watched some of Hotel Caesar on Youtube and it seems like kind of a strange show - I was shocked to see in the middle of fairly mundane stories, the beginnings of a threeway, and a (clothed) sex scene which seemed to involve thrusting and orgasm. All with this Jens August, who looked pretty hot.

There's also this...bizarre and strangely hilarious scene.

Well, there you have Charlotte  Not the best actress in the show, in my opinion. But, I haven't seen this period of the show, so I don't know what's on in that clip.

I wounder, did you see old clips or clips from the recent years? The show changed a lot in the period 2005-2007. From 1998 to 2005 the show was ok, 2006 was a lot of sex and violence (to attract younger viewers), 2007 was, in my opnion, the worst year in the show's history, 2008 some better, 2009 some better than 2008 and the same with 2010. So, let's hope 2011 will be even better!

And, Jens August, yes. Well, right now they're running a story on him being allowed, from his wife, to cheat on her - if he just tells her who it is.

Who was the woman with the cap and huge earrings, and what was that proposal about?

It's nice they are still keeping on with the Mane story.

Sorry I have not answered you earlier!

I assume you are referring to Runa? In 0:31 to 0:37?

As you can see Monica asks Arnfinn to marry her, but he just says "no" and shakes his head. I do not get as much out of it yet, it just seems a bit ... weird. It may have something to do with the fact that I suspect Arnfinn might start a romance with Julie (Juni's "half sister"* who returned to the series last week, played by Elin Sogn).

*Juni and Julie is actuallly not related: They have neither common father or mother any more (after all the "I'm your father/mother"-storylines...)

The video in better quality (as shown during TV 2's 20th anniversary show):

Thanks.

So what do you think of the Mane story, his closet status, Stellan dumping him and leaving town, his grandmother suddenly being a homophobe, etc. Some are upset about this.

Well, they could have gotten up the speed slightly... I do hope he comes out soon. But to be honest, Måne's story is not the story I like best and are most engaged in at the moment. It might become better eventually, of course. Otherwise I do not think Juni is homophobic in reality. And Stellan, well, I can not say I was a huge fan of him. He was quite ok, but I do hope Måne gets a better boyfriend in the future.

What do you think of Måne's story?

I would agree with those who think he was too young to be put into a big business storyline where he has to sleep with this "cougar" woman and all the rest. It seems somewhat out of his age range.

How is Jens August related to him again? (Jens still looks very hot, they should have made him bi)

The reason Måne was put in to a "big business storyline" was that, after all, Måne is an Anker-Hansen, and hence it is needed to include him in the company somehow sometime. Since they have enough other teenages to deal with the "teenage storylines", I think they decided to foundate Måne as a business character almost from the start. As a guy put it on a Cæsar forum: "It is quite obvious that they [the producers] are trying to avoid to make some of the mistakes they made with Goggen with Måne as well. Some of the problem with Goggen were that his dramas almost exclusively was sticky love dramas with Runa, Hermine and Vanessa, which they [the producers] apparently did not realize until his last half of the series, and then it was already too late. Already, Måne has a far greater potential than Goggen ever had."

Jens August is Juni's half-brother (none of the Juni/Jens August/Julie Anker-Hansen generation are completely in family...), so Jens August is Måne's...ehm, well...something.

It's getting closer to the big season finale! It's on at Thursday, I almost can't wait... Here are the two promos for this week of Hotel Cæsar - with English subs made by myself!

The story about the hotel being purchased by an unknown person was shown already in the August promo (for the season opening), so I've kind of been waiting for it all autumn. Nevertheless, I'm still very excited about it, and I'm really looking forward to the spring season. I think it's going to be amazing, especially since the episodes of the new showrunner Arne Berggren coming aproximately in January.

The promo with the bankruptcy is about, well, the bankruptcy while the other promo is about different love stories that take place at Hotel Cæsar right now.

Runa and Storm have been together since this summer, but now apparently Runa starts to wonder if they are the right ones for each other (I guess it might have something to do with Runa leaving the show to do).

Arnfinn and Monica have been together since early this autumn, but Arnfinn kicked Monica out last week. First, she proposed to him, he said no, and then she filed the Anker-Hansen company for bankruptcy. All this made Arnfinn realise how different the two of them really are (as Monica said afterwards: "We were never really a good match").

Pelle have gotten good relations with the maid Lily, but I don't think he has romantic feelings for her, while she has, I guess after watching the promo. And Eva has left Jens August for the *I-don't-know-what-number-it-is-but-has-been-very-many-times* time.

I know some of Berggren. He is an established author who has previously produced the drama series Hvaler in two seasons for TV 2. He has talked very good of Hotel Cæsar in the news after he took over as showrunner (of course he has, but it's good that he has received editorial coverage on this), and he seems like a really cool guy with lots of good ideas. I think he can take the series to an even better level than it is today, and look forward to his episodes!
