AMC Developing “Black Gold”

From The HR:

AMC is set to announce a new miniseries in development -- "Black Gold: The Teapot Dome Scandal."

The project from Kirk Ellis (HBO's "John Adams," TNT's "Into the West") is adapted from a nonfiction book by Laton McCartney.

"Black Gold" is set in the 1920s following a scandal when big oil companies orchestrated the election of President Warren G. Harding. Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank will serve as executive producers.

" 'Teapot Dome' is quite possibly the most outrageous political scandal in American history," said Joel Stillerman, AMC's senior vp of original programming. "It is bawdy and substantive at the same time, and reminds us that nefarious connection between the oil industry and our government is not a new phenomenon."

AMC is expected to make the announcement at the Television Critics Assn.'s press tour. The network will also announce a "Breaking Bad" mobile tour co-sponsored by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and DirecTV to promote the third season of the series.

The six-week tour of a branded "Breaking" mobile theater will make stops in major markets across the country starting Feb. 6 at the Beach Bowl
