Members Y&RWorldTurner
I've heard from several sources that OLTL submitted the Prom Musical and Asa's Funeral as the show's Emmy reels. If this is true, then they killed all chances of winning. While Asa's funeral is good, the Prom Musical has killed virtually any chance of them winning. Unlike the special Trading Places episode they submitted in 2002 and won with, the Prom Musical was just embarrassing on all levels. I think they submitted the episode from the Prom Musical where there was a bomb in the hospital Jessica was in. If anything, GL did this year what OLTL did in 2002. From what I hear, GL submitted Tammy's death episode and GL's 70th anniversary special episode where Beth Ehlers played Irna Philips. According to Michael Bruno, GH apparently submitted the wrong episodes from the Hostage Crisis, he thinks it's a race between GL and Y&R. The only reel I know of Y&R submitting was the episode where everyone found out that Nick has "died," which was actually a well-written and put together episode. I don't know what Y&R's other reel is, but I hope they don't win. I think I'd stick toothpicks in my eyes if I see Latham accept another Emmy award. Members Jess
The musical was original and that might be what they were thinking.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Maybe in the sense of daytime, but anyone who sees it can see that is was a blatant rip-off in order to cash in on the High School Musical craze that was sweeping the nation. The writing, acting, and music were all horrible during the Prom Musical. If OLTL doesn't win, I can certainly see why.
Members rhythmchyc
On the "The View from a Emmy Voter" thread, there are other revelations as to what has been submitted for "Best Show," including B&B (5,000 episode and the "rape" episode), Days (John's death). Members baller
OLTL actually was smart about their choices. The Prom Night one submitted is the best of that storyline, and the rest of the show is strong as well. It brings together different storylines and it works. It's the one that they won the Director Guild award for. to me, it's a soap sweeps type show without blowing stuff up and having everyone know it's a gimic *coughGHcough*
