B&B: Another Susan Flannery video interview

Just found this on YouTube, also from her time in Australia. She discusses plenty including her change of appearance, favourite story etc etc.

What I find particularly noteable is how relaxed, healthy and all together more youthful SF comes across in the interview. Compared to the awful way her character is dressed/made up and the tiredness that's evident in her recent scenes, it's good to see that the actress seems in such good spirits. Of course she had to get another comment in there about retiring.

Also the interviewer has to be the singularly least charismatic individual in Australian journalism.

Thank you very much for this! I didn't know she had cancer and that's why her hair went the way it was. It makes sense. I love it that her favorite story is the amnesia/homeless one. It was a terrific one. Kinda weird though that she doesn't know that the fans not only know the difference between Bill and Brad, but that they know all the writers, directors, producers, makeup artists, go-getters, etc, etc.... But so true about the different styles and the tendency of Brad to have these 2 milisecond scenes.

Not from what I heard. Allegedly (I think I read it on some Aussie TV industry blog) she was over to see her daughter and agreed to do the promotional appearances in her own time. My assumption would be that she felt more at ease doing interviews etc in another country where the show is taken less seriously but who knows.

She certainly comes across as a very bright lady.

    • Hahaha - I do. I've always been the type, though, that can't miss anything. I get FOMO, so I'll not skip episodes or fast forward anything. There are only a few TV shows I've dropped because they got so bad vs. sticking it out to the end.  The promise that GL 1997 is better is what keeps me going. I especially want to see the fallout of Blake's lie about her twins and then Annie's descent which I believe won Watros's Emmy.
    • Rita's rape is an episode i constantly search on YouTube hoping one day that it will show up. I always feel like I may have seen it, but I was only 6 at the time and can never figure any of the things I have vague recollection of

FROM THE VAULT: NON-SOAP DAYTIME RATINGS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM AUGUST 1973 & NOVEMBER 1973:
    • The rape was in 1979 after they were married. Blake was the result of Holly cheating with him while she was married to Ed. I believe she was born in 1975.
    • No. Ed and Holly were married and having problems. She had an affair with Roger and that's when Christina--Blake--was conceived. The rape happened much later, after Holly and Roger were married.
    • Was Blake the product of Roger raping Holly, or did that come after when they were a couple?
    • I really wish we could see that episode...absolutely, my memory could be faulty, it was a very long time ago. I'm not going to contradict what the actors said--there has to be a reason it made them so uncomfortable that they talked about it in the press and complained to TPTB. I think that was the first one where they made the point that they wanted to educate the audience about the subject.
    • I just did with GL and its made me very happy!

Oh yes, trying to get into any soap from scratch starting post-2010 would be hard. I prefer to go back to the good ol' days, before the decline.
    • Can we talk about how iconic the 1994 tornado was on AMC? I was scanning through old episodes last night and came across this episode. The tornado was epic and the storylines/aftermath were so good (Julia's scar/Noah!; Jenny/Ray/Nola/Jesse in heaven with Tad, etc).  For 1994, these special effects and budget for this big event were amazing. 10 out of 10!  The only thing missing is Erica!  I can't recall where Erica was at the time, but I really wish she had been involved in this storyline.
