AMC's Jesse Comes Face To Face With Tad-And Angie

Tad thought he was seeing things when he seemingly caught a glimpse of long-dead pal Jesse last week in Frankie's hospital room. This week, previews JHC, "Jesse makes himself known; he actually reaches out to Tad and says, 'Tad, you did see me. I am here. But it's extremely dangerous. It's a long story, but we're all in danger and I need you. I need you to protect Angie and Frankie.'" Once the shock wears off, Tad tries to persuade Jesse (who he last saw in ghost form in 2001, which JHC says WILL be addressed on-screen, "particularly with Tad, because that's who saw him") to reveal himself to Angie, who is working frantically to save the life of their critically ill son. "They are great scenes because Tad has lived it. He says, 'Wait a minute. I lived this, what Angie is going through. It wasn't for 20 years, but it was for four, when I thought Dixie was dead. You can't ask me to do that to someone I care so much about. I care about both of you and I want you to be together.' Jesse is able to convince him, through some of his backstory-and, quite frankly, the passion with which he is begging his best friend-to keep the secret." Jesse's resolve is tested when, during his reunion with Tad, he lays eyes on a nearby Angie (who doesn't see him). When Jesse sees Angie...it is every fiber of his being that he has to use not to reach out and grab her and hold her. You can see the love between these two people just through his eyes." Later in the week, "There's a quick near miss with Jesse and Angie at the hospital, but he ultimately beats it out of there unnoticed. Next week, though, Angie and Jesse do come face to face. "The first time she seems him at the cemetery. Frankie has pulled through and she's been speaking to Jesse through all of this-'Jesse, help our son, Jesse, help me get him through it'-so when he makes it, she goes to Jesse's grave, where Jesse has gone to sort of say good-bye to his life before going back on the run. When she sees him, it's 'Oh my God-Jesse!" And she faints. He calls 911-and by the time the paramedics come, he's gone." But not for long. "There are a bunch of little near-misses. Debbi and Darnell are so powerful apart, it's just making me believe that it is going to be everything we want it to be when they're together."

Ryan's New Old Life Begins

Amnesiac Ryan, who is stuck for years in the past, is introduced to contemporary Pine Valley society this week. "It's definitely making things a little uncomfortable around town," says CM. When he sees Kendall, to whom he thinks he's still engaged, "He just can't take his eyes off her. He doesn't remember anything in his life beyond being in love with Kendall, so it's very difficult for him." Ryan hides his condition from her at first, "so she just thinks he's being really weird. Then Zach finds out from Annie and Kendall finds out from Zach and she's like, 'Oh my God, Ryan, I am so sorry you're going through this.' Everybody is being supportive and patient, but for Ryan it's like, 'Listen guys, I really appreciate it, but here's the bottom line: When I look at Kendall, I see my fiancee. I don't know who you are, Zach, and I don't know who you are, Annie.' "He's being very respectful of Kendall and Zach, as he should be, and he's grateful that Annie is being so patient and loving, but he wants space from her." Things may be awkward on camera, but off camera, Mathison and Thorsten are having fun with their new dynamic. "He's been jokingly standing in my eyeline so I can't stare at his girl," Mathison laughs. "It's very comical."

On Monday, February 11, Kendall fears her tryst with Aidan could have lingering consequences. "I am sacred of the Zach and Kendall fans!" says Aiden Turner. "I am going to have to get a bodyguard." On Tuesdat, February 12, Aidan shares a haunting memory with Greenlee, and sparks fly when Erica meets dashing Samuel Woods.

What Will Happen:

Erica's financial woes worsen.

Tad tries to solve the mystery of how Jesse could still be alive.

Greenlee takes Ryan on a trip down memory lane.

Jesse and Angie are on a collision course.

Is Aidan afraid that Greenlee is going to die? Aiden Turner notes:

"He's definitely scared, but at the same time, for him, Greenlee dying is not an option. He loves this woman so much and they have been through so much, he can't lose her now."

Carolyn Hinsey On Greenlee:

Have you heard? the real Greenlee is back on AMC! You probably didn't know that because they didn't do any on-air promos on ABC or SN. First, let me say that I am a Rebecca Budig fan from way back and am thrilled that she's back. But those incessant "Real Greenlee" commercials were a giant insult to every fan who bought into the new Greenlee (Sabine Singh). Recasts are never easy, and they often don't work. But when an actor quits and the show doesn't want to lose the character, they have no choice but to recast. And Sabine obviously worked so hard! Aside from the offensive promos, AMC made the cardinal mistake of giving Sabine's Greenlee a steamy love scene on her last day of filming. "Lie down on your front and let me do what I do best," Aidan cooed. (Ew.) The action picked up the next day with Budig back in the role enjoying a "Welcome Back" party at Fusion and whispering sweet nothings on the phone to Aidan-one way. Worse than all that was her part in AMC's latest placement deal. Reprint of Babe & Greenlee's conversation about Campbell soup and heart disease.. Thunk! There goes what was left of the "real" Greenlee's return, lost in a clumsy fog of soup PR and bad writing. Don't get me wrong-love Campbell's, hate heart disease. But the smart thing to do would have been to play Greenlee and Ryan at Fusion on her first day back, with some cat-eyed jealousy coming from Annie and Kendall not to happy about it, either. Remind us: a) what a troublemaker Budig's Greenlee was and B ) that she created her best sparks (after Leo) with Ryan. But I guess AMC is too busy trying to sell hastily scribbled books (more on Charm later) and soup to tell a good story.

Exerpts from Rebecca Budigs interview:

On Former Leading Man Josh Duhamel: He doesn't call me anymore. I call him and he doesn't call me back. I saw him at a couple of events and he was just as sweet as ever; I've just gone down the call list."

Her Dressing Room Decor: A seminaked poster of Aiden Turner hangs on her wall, courtesy of Turner himself. "It's hot! Poor Bob is going to come in and be like, 'Uh, what's up with Aiden? Do I have something to be worried about?"

On Having Cameron As A Houseguest During DWTS: "He's the best, the nicest houseguest you could ever have. He wants to buy every meal and do all these things, but I was just happy for him to be there! It was a great opportunity just to hang out in the mornings before he went off to dance."

Sunday Best: "Alicia and her fiance have me over for dinner every Sunday night. We're making that into a tradition."

On Cameron & Alicia: "They're like family. I feel so comfortable with them."

On If she considers L.A. home: "Well, sort of. I loved the weather, loved the grocery stores, loved the space we had. But I'm much more of a New Yorker at heart. I love that this town is filled with so many different people and they don't care who you are or what you do; they're gonna treat you how they're gonna treat you. In L.A., there's like a system. If you're not Julia Roberts, you're not treated as well."

On the Real Greenlee ads: "Oh, I know. I know. I feel bad. I feel it's bad they say, 'real.' I'm the original, not the real. I don't own this role; no one does. Sabine did a great job and I just don't want to be dismissive of what she did, you know? But I didn't do the campaign; I don't work for marketing."

On being back at AMC: "When I left, it was because I wanted to do something different; I wanted to shake things up. And it actually feels so different coming back because I'm working with people I never worked with before-Debbi, Thorsten, Aiden-which is awesome. I don't mind going back and working with Cameron and Alicia, of course, but it's great to come in and be in a different spot than wen I left. I feel refreshed, you know?So it feels different, definitely- but different good."

Little Tidbit: She grew up watching AMC and was a huge Angie/Jesse fan. "When I found out I'd be working with Debbi and Darnell...you just have no idea how excited I was."

Mail:

Fan letter praising Aiden Turner and saying that he has finally come into his own in the Ailee storyline & he's proven that he's leading man material. Fan is looking forward to him continuing to shine opposite Rebecca Budig.

Fan letter praising Colby & Dre.

Fan happy to have Jesse and Angie back.

    • Just some clarification: David Hasselhoff was hubby #2! Per Google, she was married to another man in October 1981 and divorced him in 1982. So, Michael E. Knight was hubby #3. Here I thought Vincent Irizarry was still married. Shrug. Maybe he dated Hickland in between her marriages to MEK and hubby #4, Todd Fisher? (Yes, brother to Carrie and son of Debbie Reynolds...)

Vincent Irizarry throws in a quick mention that he was dating Catherine Hickland when he first heard about Marj.  I wonder when this was..? She was married to David Hasselhoff for a good bit of the 80's. And then MEK for most of the 90's. Fun fact... David Hasselhoff played Michael Knight on Knight Rider. Then she married an actor named the same as her first husband's character.
    • I agree with a lot of what has been mentioned before me. I think BTG desperately needs another family.  Character ages still throw me. There have been several times where I still think Martin is Vernon and Anita's child and then a character says something and I'm like oh right. It doesn't help that he hardly socializes with his parents or Kat. I do not care about the secondary characters... Ashley, Derek, Vanessa, Doug, Pamela, Joey, Jan, Mona, the gym dude can all go and I wouldn't care. The exception being Shanice. There is a decent hospital set and police station set but most characters have other jobs. They could have easily had characters interact at work and make it seem organic. Instead they had Derek showing up at someone's work let alone a police officer to talk about his quarrel with Ashley. Also, falling into the trap of having stories that soaps no longer have the budget for. That fashion show was tragic and so was the award gala. The potential trial between Naomi and Bill being dropped was probably due to lack of a courtroom set. However, how soapy would it have been if Bill had a heart attack at the trial and Naomi feeling guilty. It would have also been a way to easily redeem the character of Bill to Naomi but also Dani and Chelsea who would face what losing him would ultimately mean.
    • Not too upset with Martin and Bradley being married. It's a first for daytime, so I love that BTG came out of the gate breaking barriers. I hope that the show plays on their past in the most soapiest ways. This doesn't have to be Martin's first marriage. What if Bradley's parents were some real grifters or con artists? Does he have siblings?      I agree with/ @Cheap21    Kat gives me a smart businesswoman.  With everything she is currently dealing with I can see her becoming a shark in the boardroom. So I'm looking forward to that business storyline.
    • That's what happened with Hope Williams Brady on DAYS.  Started as rich princess, went to the police academy.   Became a cop.  Now consults for the I.S.A.
    • I know Curlee/Demorest tried to give Roger a conscience in regard to raping Holly, and Zas is magnificent in those scenes with Alex. But he kinda ends up blaming Adam and the fact he (well, really the writers) ignores raping Rita and being responsible for her and Ed's child's death make it less than convincing.  I do think during 89-93 they were careful to not whitewash his past with Holly, but his occasional bouts of conscience always seemed to be overridden by his obsession/lust for her. The only purely good thing I can ever recall him doing is helping Maureen during the blackout, and even then, had she lived, he would've found a way to call that favor in. I've kinda resisted saying it, but it's kind of clear to me Long was determined to have her own version of Erica Kane, and God help us all, it ended up as Reva Shayne. Although at least Kim could act. (Sorry LaLucci fans) Honestly, I'm not even sure CBS soaps ever a character as larger than life as Reva.
    • Regardless, I'd still like to see more episodes from the 80s...there is very little of Charlotte Greer, Kirklands and Greenberg's out there sadly.
    • A black family having a white maid would be a good subversion of stereotypes. Also want to say that while the overall show has many flaws, the biggest one that's legitimately stifling is the lack of a rival family.
    • I also do not like the bits I've seen with Delia during Labine's 83 return. I am glad when she came back for the last time in 1986, she allowed Delia to move on from Frank.
