As happy that I am that the Yankees are down 2-0 (Did we really think it would be any different), I am getting annoyed that the Red Sox are still tied with the Angels. Let's go Papelbon! I know you can win this one for my beloved Red Sox

I Screamed so loud I woke my poor mother up. I just had looked up when Manny launched that ball, I think it landed in Logan :)

It sucks that we have AL baseball tomorrow. Sunday there are toomany good things, football, NASCAR and the elimination of the Yankees and the winning of the Red Sox

Interesting article that I found on redsox.com. Basically stating that Joe Torre's job is on the line and the possibility that they may not resign A-Rod.

Report: Boss says Torre's job on line

Steinbrenner doubts skipper will be back if Yankees lose

By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com

NEW YORK -- Joe Torre's Yankees must advance to the American League Championship Series for the longtime manager to keep his job, George Steinbrenner said on Saturday.

Speaking in a telephone interview with The Record of Hackensack, N.J., which published his remarks on Sunday, Steinbrenner said that Torre's 12-year run at the helm is at stake as the Yankees face an 0-2 deficit to the Indians in the American League Division Series.

"His job is on the line," Steinbrenner told the newspaper. "I think we're paying him a lot of money. He's the highest-paid manager in baseball, so I don't think we'd take him back if we don't win this series."

Torre, who has managed the Yankees since 1996, is baseball's highest-paid manager, earning $7 million this year. He is not under contract for the 2008 season, making him the most notable potential free agent in a Yankees group that includes Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera and perhaps Alex Rodriguez.

Steinbrenner told The Record that Torre has "been good for us over the years," as the Yankees have made the playoffs in each of Torre's 12 seasons. But they are facing first-round elimination for the third consecutive season on Sunday.

New York is pinning its Game 3 hopes on 45-year-old Roger Clemens, pitching opposite Cleveland's Jake Westbrook as the Indians try for the series sweep at Yankee Stadium.

"We certainly need to find out what we're made of," Torre said earlier on Saturday. "We certainly can't take time to feel sorry for ourselves. We've worked too hard to get here and to be one of the select teams in the postseason. We have to make the most of it."

The 77-year-old Steinbrenner, who has reserved his words in recent years, instead opting to release most of his commentary through public relations man Howard Rubenstein, agreed with Torre's assessment.

"I think that's a good statement," he said. "They'd better show what they're made of."

In a wide-ranging interview with The Record, Steinbrenner had choice words for umpire Bruce Froemming, the crew chief who opted to continue play in Friday's Game 2 despite swarms of small winged bugs, called midges, that unnerved rookie closer Joba Chamberlain in the eighth inning as Cleveland tied the game, which eventually ended in 11 innings with the Indians winning, 2-1.

"He won't umpire our games anymore," Steinbrenner said of Froemming, who is retiring after this season.

Steinbrenner also acknowledged Alex Rodriguez's future, as the probable American League MVP remains hitless in this ALDS and in his last 19 postseason at-bats.

"I think we'll re-sign him," Steinbrenner said of A-Rod. "I think he's going to have a good run the rest of the [postseason]. I think he realizes New York is the place to be, the place to play. A lot of this [postseason] is laying on his shoulders, you know, but I think he's up to it."

Steinbrenner told the newspaper that he maintains full control over the Yankees, despite published reports of his failing health.

"I'm doing all right," Steinbrenner said. "I'm fine."

On another note, the D backs and the Rockies will meet in the National League Championship Series. The brooms were out as they both swept their respective series. We have a very strong possibility of two more sweeps today. If the Red Sox win, you will be hearing me scream, no matter where you are in the Continental U.S. and Canada

Aww....no Red Sox/Yankees ALCS. I really wanted to see that match. Oh well.

Now, I want to see a Red Sox/Rockies World Series.

Game 1 and 2 of the ALCS is going to be so good. Beckett vs Sabithia and then Schilling vs Carmona. Talk about pitchers duals!

Well Manny had a point and I agree with it. It's only baseball and there are a lot more important things going on in the world, like wars, poverty, etc. Anytime Manny speaks he is bound to cause controversay.

I wont be watching tonight's game as I dont think I will be up much longer, but go Josh!

    • It's very smart, even if I don't love the choice of content creators. And it's hilarious Daphnée keeps doing lives on Instagram, when she's admitted she isn't the best of them.
    • Tomlin's first stint was from May 1983 to March 1984 (11 months) when he left to become co head of AW. He lasts about six months the second time. But he' paired with John Whitesell this time and the show was a wreck after Mayer/Braxton's 6 months.
    • I think it's wonderful that they have started to let the actors do more press with content creators.

    •   I agree. Colby did a nice job playing against TMG. They had some nice sparring/energy. I think they matched well against each other. CM/Kat looked very pretty today (and really as always) and I agree that Kat is a smart character and I appreciate that.  I am interested in seeing how he plays against Nicole/Leslie. I'm not sure what will end up happening there. Especially considering they are such strong female characters. Maybe he will have chemistry with one or both of them. I hope he has chemistry with at least a couple of people. I would have liked to have kept Maurice, but maybe things will somehow work out with Keith in the role. He really does love them especially Naomi. I think he genuinely believes in her ability as an attorney as well.  He doesn't even get mad when she questions/chastises him, because I think that he thinks that she is capable and smart. I think his love for his children, definitely provides some good depth/balance to his character.
    • Someone called Leslie "LADS" for all the names she has used LMAO
    • @xtr I agree, Bill's love for his children levels out his character. There is something already lovable about him.
    • The new Ted comes off as older to me. His stature and appearance remind me of Vernon but without Vernon's charisma. He doesn't have the presence MJ had. Maybe KR will surprise us in the future but I'm not really invested in Ted as a character anymore.
    • Moving closer to the summer, I hope one of the new sets we get is like a beach house with/ a pool or something outside.
    • I agree that Keith's version of Ted does come across as younger. I thought that Ted's conversation with Kat today was interesting. He painted a picture of Leslie that no one (including the audience) has seen before. Leslie behaving like he described why he was initially drawn to her, though of course it doesn't excuse him of hurting/cheating on Nicole. I did like Ted's honesty/vulnerability in his conversation with Kat. I also continue to like Bill's relationship with Naomi. I believe he does genuinely love her and vice versa. Like she stated today he doesn't make it easy for her to love him, but she does. I would like to see them team up one day and be on the same side with something. I think that it's interesting that June doesn't know who the pictures of the two children are. I think it might be an older picture of her and Hayley together as siblings, like some people up here have already suggested. I also wonder what Ted will get Eva for her birthday. And I liked Eva giving it a little to Leslie on today's show when she brought up that people may soon suspect Leslie regarding Laura's accident. Leslie tried to spin it more like it may have been Eva's doing to Kat, but I did like Eva standing her ground and telling Leslie she wouldn't allow herself to be used so that Leslie could get closer to Ted.
