qubo Reveals New Fall Programming Slate

NEW YORK CITY, August 8: qubo—the multiplatform children’s programming block that currently airs on NBC, ION Television, and Telemundo—has announced its programming line-up for the fall, which will feature the U.S. television debut of the British series Postman Pat.

The new qubo fall line-up will begin airing on NBC on Saturday, October 6 at 10 a.m. The programming block airs Fridays on ION Television from 3-6 p.m., and on Telemundo on Saturdays and Sundays from 8-9:30 a.m. The new programming will also air seven days a week on the qubo digital network that launched in January, and online.

Entertainment Rights’ Postman Pat is one of the top-rated shows airing on the BBC and the preschool channel CBeebies. The series follows the eponymous character and his loyal sidekick Jess the Cat as he sets off each morning to deliver the mail to his neighbors in the town of Greendale. The two leave a lasting impression on the town and help provide lessons about neighborliness and community.

qubo’s fall schedule also includes the premiere of My Friend Rabbit, a series inspired by the popular book by Eric Rohmann. Produced by Nelvana, the series follows Rabbit and his best friend Mouse as they try to find the end of rainbows, turn the moon on and off, play Follow the Leader with their geese friends, the Gibble Girls, and learn about life from a menagerie of friends that includes alligators, rhinos and more.

The two new series join a number of returning programs on qubo. There will be additional episodes of VeggieTales, which centers on the adventures of Bob the tomato, Larry the cucumber and their veggie friends; new episodes of Dragon, a series provided by Scholastic that features a big, blue friendly dragon who first appeared in the a popular book series of the same name from author Dav Pilkey; additional episodes of 3-2-1 Penguins!, about the intergalactic adventures of penguins, and of the medieval-themed series Jane and the Dragon, co-produced by Weta Productions and Nelvana.

“qubo launched last fall with the mission of bringing together the world’s premier kids entertainment companies to provide a safe place for youngsters to enjoy family-friendly programming that stresses imagination and literacy,” said Rick Rodriguez, the president and general manager of qubo. “The very enthusiastic response we’ve gotten from parents, kids and families tells us that we are meeting our goal, and we are excited to bring more new shows to our audience.”
