Couldn't disagree more. Knowing Sami, do you think she would have the optimism that someone would come along, in a snow storm, no less? Of course not. EJ knew this. It brings us back to the power and control aspect. To Sami, there was no choice. There's no debating that. IMO.

But that's the thing. We're not dismissing "rape" so cavalierly. Because we -- some of us -- don't believe it WAS rape. That changes the situation than if we believed it was rape and were glamourizing it to benefit the HOTNESS that is Ejami.

I'm not saying that the rape should be ignored or swept under the rug. I'm simply saying that despite the current story, I think that Alison Sweeney and James Scott have chemistry. That is, by no means, giving my stamp of approval to rape. The chemistry between Sweeney/Scott has nothing at all to do with their story and everything to do with THEM. JMO.

If Bo Brady suddenly had a twin come on the show who raped Hope, that doesn't mean that I would suddenly start disliking the chemistry between Kristian and Peter. The chemistry that I enjoy between the actors has nothing to do with the story, and everything to do with the actors. Same for Kristian/Peter, same for Ali/James, same for Deidre/Drake, etc.

But that's pure speculation that you think EJ was reading Sami's thoughts and trying to play her on psychology. What I saw, was a twisted boy who THOUGHT he found a clever way to make love to the woman he thinks he's in love with. I didn't see mind games, I didn't see (nor did the show give him voiceovers that suggest he was trying to make) a power play. So yeah, there's some debate in that.

That's cool. I understand how others could view the scene differently. Some of the posts just seemed dismissive of rape in general. Or that it isn't a big deal because it's on a soap opera.

I can concede that Ali and James have great chemistry though. It's very potent despite the story.

Well, JER, will all due respect, you are biased in your love for EJ/Sami. And I've said all along that it's JMO, but they built for months how EJ knew Sami inside and out. And we all know how Sami works, so, to me, your argument falls flat. Room for debate? Sure is. There always is. There will always be people who think they're right and everyone who disagrees is wrong.

Sami might've felt that EJ was her last chance, but EJ knew in his own mind that another car could've come swinging through any minute to help her. Especially with the police so hot on his tail. I'm not arguing that he didn't use Sami's weakened mental state to coerce her -- however, to say that he was Lucas' "executioner" is a statement I don't agree with, personally. If EJ refused to help Sami save Lucas, that doesn't mean he was going to die FORSURE.

Oh, that last line could apply to ANYONE on this board so don't try to single ME out. Honestly! Anyone who argues an issue can be painted that way if someone wants to shut 'em up.

I don't think EJ knew Sami inside and out. yes, I'm biased. But sttill, I think he just knew they were birds of a feather. I doubt he can get inside her paranoid mind and use his own suspicions about what he thinks she's thinking, to get her to be intimate with him. Just don't see that happening.

And two can play at that game, too. Because ALSO for months, we've seen hints that Sami is more than a pawn for EJ and that he thinks he has real, deep feelings for her.

His character flaw, however, is being a DiMera, which by virtue makes him manipulative.

Not rape. A man who found a way to make love to his heart's desire. Not about power -- in his own twisted mind.

Sami/EJ seem to be mirroring Luke/Laura very much beyond the seduction/rape/bad writing/your pick.

They're coming together to fight an evil family, the Dimera. The Spencers battled the Cassadines.

Sami is married to her first love, Lucas but has a connection with EJ. Laura was married to Scotty, but had a connection to Luke.

EJ rescued Sami from Tony when she was about to be hurt. Luke rescued Laura from Stavros.

Luke and Lura went o the run. EJ and Sami met u in New Orleans (close enough).

Scott became increasingly irrelevant in Laura's life. Lucas is becoming irrelevant to Sami.
