MELBOURNE actor Joshua Kalender looks set to make the big time in the US.

Kalender, who recently returned from Los Angeles for a holiday, has auditioned for producers of hit soap The Young and the Restless after a casting director noticed him at a TV workshop.

He's been asked back for further talks, once he sorts out his working visa.

Until then, Kalender is sleeping on a friend's floor.

Y&R are [!@#$%^&*] up with all these damn newbies! If I wanted to watch a soap running over with newbies, I would watch only ABCD soaps.
