TV producer Praiser diesWriter/producer worked on 'Taxi,' 'Bosom Buddies,' 'Alf' By VARIETY STAFF Emmy Award-winning producer Ian Praiser, 59 died Dec. 4 in Los Angeles of heart failure. He was 59. Praiser was a writer/producer on shows including "Taxi," "Bosom Buddies," "Alf," "Caroline in the City" and "Suddenly Susan". Twice-nommed for a WGA writing award for "Taxi" and "All is Forgiven" (a series he created with onetime partner Howard Gewirtz), he won an Emmy writing for his work on "The Tracey Ullman Show" in 1990. Active in the theater community, he produced several shows including Balcony Scene at New York's Circle Rep, and the Los Angeles production of "When Pigs Fly" at the Coronet Theatre, as well as several other local productions including "Panic in Griffith Park" and "Oliver Twisted!" He also co-wrote and produced the award-winning short film "Mother, Mother" starring Bess Armstrong, Piper Laurie and Polly Bergen. The film, produced in 1988, was an early examination of the effects of the AIDS epidemic. He is survived by his mother and a brother.
