Problems in posting a Reply

A few times lately I have posted replies in regular forums and in blogs. Sometimes they have been quite lengthy and I have got this screen when I tried to enter it:

Board Message

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:

Authorization mismatch - please go back and try again. If you have been trying to access a function incorrectly, please use the proper method.

Of course,I have lost my reply and have been too frustrated to start over. It seems I may have to copy my posts before I click post topic!

I feel I have accessed the function properly and have used the proper method..

After 4 years I ought to know how to post a reply by now! :)

LoL! I have the same problem too, depending upon which browser I'm using.

For some reason, ever since the board was updated, I cannot post anything on the message board when I'm using AOL. It will not let me... gives me the same exact message it gives you.

If I use Internet Explorer, however, it lets me post without a problem.

It's frustrating, though, because sometimes I use AOL for certain features (I get it for free with my cable internet) and forget all about not being able to post from AOL, and I end up losing the entire post just like you whenever it brings up that message. Hopefully they'll fix whatever the problem is with AOL, because posting works fine for me on Internet Explorer... I just hate constantly having to open IE everytime I want to post, and I hate forgetting about it and then losing a post when I'm on AOL.

This only started happening after the board update, though, so it obviously has something to do with that. You should've seen all the problems I had the first day after the upgrade! In addition to not letting me post and giving me that annoying baord message, it would also log me out everytime I clicked on a post, it said I had to be re-certified with a new password or some sh!t before I could edit my profile or post in certain forums. I tried changing my password, but that just made it worse because then it wouldn't let me log in at all, under ANY password. Errol eventually had to change my password for me, issue me a new one, then change it back to what it was. Since then, it's been fine... but damn, what a nightmare THAT was! I was ready to punch a hole through my computer screen.

Anyway, I've completely veered off topic. Long story short, do you use different browsers when accessing the internet? If so, Invision might work fine for one and screw up for another, like me with AOL/IE.

Hopefully they get it all fixed so that we won't have to worry about making sure we're on the right browser and copying all of our posts before clicking "reply" to keep from losing the post entirely.

The problem for me only began after the upgrade. It seems it happens a lot when I make a long post. Thankfully it doesn't happen all the time or it would be very annoying!

I use IE6. I have tried unsuccesfully to download IE7.

This problem occurs because the SON Community Forums does not allow members to login from multiple computers. To make sure they aren't, you are logged in using what is called a "session."

Your session is based on your cookie information as well as your IP address. If you are using AOL's integrated browser, your IP address may change minute to minute, which is called "dynamic ip." If you have a dynamic IP, the SON system will give you the above error message because the IP address you originally used to login to SON with is no longer the IP you are using within the AOL Integrated Browser.

Why did SON implement this system? We implemented this system in order to prevent spamming and multiple membership accounts from being logged in at the same time. Basically, it helps us prevent multiple personalities from playing games.

Our suggestion? Just don't use the AOL Integrated Browser. Use Internet Explorer or FireFox.

Hmm.

I am not on AOL. I use only one computer and I use only IE.

I haven't had the problem yet today.

It seems like since the upgrade there have been more spam in the off topic folder.

There are two messages there now.

Seems like there is something there everyday.

If you see spam messages could you please let us know about it in the future?

Also, we can't stop people from registering with valid email address. We have stopped people from registering with fake ones. Any spammer is banned immediately.
