  1. Lol! You watched PC right? Did you like her character on that show? I nice 12 week ark with Debbi Morgan as Angie as a testing ground for future storylines? Sign me up! There is nothing I HATE more than when a soap opera signs a veteran performer to recurring with no real plan (I'm looking at you Eva laRue on Y&R, James DePaiva on GH). Give her some lead materials for a "chapter" of the year, with a discrete start, middle, end. Angie in an abortion storyline would be so relevant to our times. Her character also faced those tough decisions as a single mum, ultimately putting Frankie up for adoption. She and Anna can commiserate over shared Pine Valley friends, including David. Dr. Ellen on Port Charles would have benefitted from being Angie. I know they did not want to break-up Jacob/Angie on the City, but she would have worked as a single Angie with a baby Cassandra. She would be a little fish out of water, being asked to lead the intern program while having to create meaningful relationships with the other experienced doctors: Alan, Monica, Tony, Gail, Kevin. I wonder if Debbi was over Angie at the start of Port Charles. I mean, she wore a wig and color contacts. She did everything she could to make Ellen not an Angie fascimile.
  2. SuBe should have been a Primetime show. I lived abroad when it was showing, and it ran like a Spanish telenovela every evening in Primetime. It really worked. It looked Primetime between the filming style, the outdoor shots, the higher end costuming. SuBe failed when it tried to become more of a "soap opera" in production and storytelling. Its earlier differentiators were panned because it was different. But different is good. It was setting a new path and a new tone. I wish they kept to it versus the major retooling after the cave-in episodes. You see the mark-able quality decline after the cave-in. That storyline could have been a good jumping-on point for fans. The whole town coming together to save Ben and Meg.
  3. A good story is a good story, cross over or not. The OLTL-ers did a lot revive the Port Charles canvas around the 50th Anniversary. Todd and Carly were the unexpected pairing that we needed. The chemistry between Roger and Carly was so hot. The characters, two town scoundrals, working together, worked. McBain was more interesting in Port Charles than he was on OLTL. I still remember the rain scene at the end of the water poisoning storyline, the fire between Sam and McBain was palatable. The tongue and cheek of the Tea, Blair, Skye reunion was the nod longtime fans wanted. Throwing Carly into the mix, realizing she had a tense relationship with all four characters, was the character-driven storytelling at its finest. I can only dream of how many more "good" RC years we would have gotten if his plans were not so de-railed by Prospect Park. GH was on a creative renaissance then. It was such a disservice pulling the OLTL characters. The actors (KA, RH, and ME) have all suffered in their new role(s) since then. This has been a long-time fan dream, even when VI left AMC in the mid-00's. He is a doctor, he is a pot-stirrer, he and Finola's chemistry is off the charts. I wonder if VI would be open to returning to Soaps. Days did him no favours. His son has had a lot of personal issues.
  4. This has to be the first time I’ve ever read this. I do not remember even rumours about this back then. Do you remember if this was in any articles/ interviews? Alan, Emily, AJ should have been kept alive. So much character development wasted for short-sighted death storylines. It is interesting that with Monica/Alan branch of the family tree culled, Tracy’s side of the family is taking Center stage. Tracy, Ned, Olivia, Brooklynn, they have a fun dynamic together. They are getting more screentime than many of the Q’s have in years!
  5. I never doubt you sir! It still doesn’t mean I can’t be disappointed.
  6. I do love this nuance! I hope the continue it with the updates. It keeps the opening feeling so fresh. There are a few actors I hope we see alternative shots for: - Esther: She looks so serious in hers. Esther deserves to smile. - Jill: The camera angle is awful for her. And we know from 30 years of openings Jill knows how to pose! Her shot in the last opening was one of the best. - Jack: The straight on pose does not scream Jack for me. He always does that side pose with a perfect part.
  7. I remember this was such a contrast from Shari’s Valley Girl Ashley, and Eileen’s heightened run as Kristen. Ashley came back an Ice Queen. A Caroline Bissette type. She was not longer a Betty, she was Veronica. I loved the evolution. She and Brad, it was like could two people be more attractive? If you went to central casting and asked for a “soap couple” you would have gotten Diamont and Davidson. I think this coldness and edge is what made Ashley a more well rounded character again. She was not everyone’s friend and talk to character ala Epperson. She was no longer the ditzy victim ala Shattuck. She was a debutante, a woman who could get whatever she wanted without saying a word. and Ashley under Davidson does. I remember years later at Katherine’s fake funeral, when she and Victor arrive late and sit in the front row together. She did not have any lines. She just looked forward with an icy glare. She was Ashley Abbott, and ever had to say a single word to claim her space.
  8. What’s the likelihood that Kristina, the forgotten Corinthos, makes an appearance at her brother’s wedding? What can they do to make Drew less Ryan Lavery? He isn’t even fun Ryan Lavery from the conman days, he milquetoast Ryan from the post-Cambias days. Is Laura Wright still together with the Scott that played Peter?
  9. Bummer this Ethan’s visit was so short. The actor was very good. He had chemistry with Holly. I wouldn’t mind a return. I have to give the costume department credit for Felicia and Tracy’s styling. They dress Felicia like a suburban soccer mom, which is what she is. These slowly peasant tops scream Kohl’s. It’s a stark dichotomy to Tracy’s sleek suiting. Tracy looks like a world heiress. It’s fun to see that not every soap character has to look fancy. During the Guza 2000’s, it always seemed like all the women were always in the same suits. Cary, black suit. Alexis, pinstripe suit. Courtney, juniors department blazer. These character specific costumes are so much more fun.
  10. Daniel and Lily's scene in bed today was so refreshing for so many reasons: We had characters making love in a bed, and not on a sofa We had characters in close intimacy, speaking about something heartfelt (e.g., their parents deaths) We got to see Daniel's amazing chest, wow Graz is aging with style This is soap opera at its finest. Close-up characters, not across a coffee shop table or next to each other on a sofa. Commiserating on an emotional topic based on their shared history. It was warm, it was sexy, without being overtly sexual.
  11. Unpopular opinion, but the GH of today is the closest its ever been to feeling like the GH of Claire Labine, from a tone perspective. NOT A WRITING PERSPECTIVE (in that department it is still a far cry). What I mean by this is that Port Charles feels like a small community again, with not just romantic pairings, but relationships. The fall-out from this latest Cassadine story is the a great example. With Anna shot, the whole town is slowly learning about it and her condition: Jordan, Robert, Felicia. Then, when they realize Spencer and Trina are missing, more characters are folded in: Curtis, Scott, Laura. So many of the characters are feeling the impact, and getting a chance to react. It's not a big group scene where only two character get lines (in the old days Luke and whoever Tony wasn't fighting with that week) get lines. It's not a throwaway line at the end of the story ("I was so worried about you."). We are living and breathing the fall-out from this in real time.
  12. I think this was a big part of it. JJY was demoted to recurring in the era when the contract status on a show really mattered. He went with the flow, and got relatively good airtime even in recurring. I mean, the Mac/Felicia/Luke scandal happened while he was on recurring! The return of Cesar Faison! Mary Beth Evans did a great interview when she returned to DAYS on recurring. Kayla was not even working at the hospital again, she was pouring coffee at the Brady Pub. She said something along the lines of, "10 years ago I would have never returned on recurring," but when you look at the landscape today the status does not matter. Recurring players still get A-stories. And she was right about that! Wally Kurth, Judi Evans, Bryan Dattilo were all back on recurring, and got more screen time than some of the contract players. Back to the original post, it took a decade for Shell Kepler to get her due in Port Charles. It took Jesse just as long. Its unfortunate. You have to give FV credit for substantially improving how he treats the vets. Amy, Lee, Gail, end Sean. They all got proper send-offs, even after their portrayers were marginalised and forgotten.
  13. Amy's passing was definitely not tied to Shell's age, it was the fact that she was part of the vet/recurring crowd culled by the JFP/Guza regime with little to no fanfare: Tony, Felicia, Bobbie, Laura.... I'm still amazed that John York survived that era, after so many rounds of contract to recurring cycles. I guess he gets points for loyalty. Heck, the man stayed in the opening credits no matter his contract status, even in the "strictly contract players only" years.
  14. I give this one a Hot. I like Victoria being in the "pursuer" seat, versus the "pursued" seat in this storyline. AH is so bothered by Nate/Elena and Tucker/Ashley. And I like that she is not hiding it, she is openly aggressive. It's a fun side of Victoria I have not seen since Heather Tom's tenure.
  15. A last goodbye for Tommy via DVD is such a perfect idea, that you know the writers at Days have no way of actually conceiving it. Especially with John Lupton gone, it would be a great way to close-out that generation of Hortons. (I know Marie and Maree Cheatham are alive, but let's be serious about the likelihood of EVER seeing her again onscreen). I know fans are so fast call for more decedents of core families, as am I, but Horton frankly has a critical mass of Hortons right now, making romance stories and potential couples so hard to navigate! Paired with the fact that the emerging generation of characters are steeped in Horton blood (Chad/Abby's kids, Will/Gaby's kids, Shawn's kids with Belle and Jan, Lucas/Sami's kids) it would make sense to invest some other family lines in Salem. Salem is almost as incestious as LA is for Forresters (though nothing will ever beat the Ridge/Bridget sibling romance, eek).
  16. Eric has the benefit of being in good overall health, good medical coverage, and money to pay for the best treatment. I should be optimistic about his recovery. Ageing sucks, but the alternative sucks.
  17. I agree with this route. There are three strong actors in the role now. The chemistry between Chance and Summer has been strong. I think AL will frankly have chemistry with anyone based on her limited run to date. The actor that plays Chance clearly has a comedic side, based on the BTS videos. His goofiness reminds me a lot of Chris Evans. I hope they let him lean into the comedy a little more. It's surprising that after decades on canvas, the character of Chance still seems like a blank slate. What is his personality? What is his motivation? Luckily, we now have an actor that I think can create something meaningful with the right writing. The Billy/Kyle distraction scenes was a "nice try." It was something about the pacing/music. You did not get the emotional pay off of realizing Billy was just trying to help his nephew. This scene could have been memorable, if they gave it a chance to be done right. Haha - I mean they are basically the same character to me. But yes, Mariah.
  18. Billy, Cassie, and Tessa’s opening images were worth the wait. Great poses. I guess the only opening image we are waiting for is Kevin.
  19. I love that Noah and Kelsey just premiered in the opening. Relieved in fact because both characters have potential and good portrayers.
  20. I have no qualms about the colour, I am grey haired myself. I believe Deidre Hall used to be colourist! I do think that the cut and style should be more sophisticated. Tracy is supposed to a wealthy, worldly, refined woman. The haircut should reflect that. I think her classic shorter cut would do.
  21. Why do you have to go breaking my heart like that Errol? JK 💋💋💋 The costuming for the scene was on point. The white outfit. The big hat. Tracy's very defined chin. It was a classic soap re-entry, worthy of a character of Tracy's caliber. I hope they can find a more refined hair style for Jane. She is supposed to be a modern, refined, upper-crust woman. The hair she has been sporting on her last few returns has looked more like a woman living in Venice, California. I know Jane is not keen on all the appearance stuff, but I think its important for her character. Yes, Tracy is a grifter. But she is supposed to be a refined grifter.
  22. Can we all agree that new Ethan is sex on a stick. Gosh, I have not drooled over a soap hunk in a long time… like Sunset Beach days. I pray to god that this man can act. I love Tracy/ Holly/ Felicia’s stories all coming together. Who would have thought that these three characters would ever get a chance to play together. The only downside was the comically small set. You had the four actors tripping over each other and the funeral to get out of the scene.
  23. I’m okay with Olivia and Ned being the “stable” couple on the show now. The Joe and Ruth. Both are capable actors. Both are good as the “talking to” character - I mean who doesn’t want Olivia as their mother! Robert has 100 viable options on canvas, but clearly Diane is not one of them.
  24. This! I forgot about this storyline nugget. Ethan helped to protect Kristina from the abusive boyfriend too right? Ethan can come home and feel like a fish out of water, so he reconnects with Kristina. Kristina can have a gf, and Ethan thinks he’s be friend-zoned. They spend a lot of time together doing normal stuff: watching movies, eating at Kelly’s, things Ethan hasn’t done for years on the run. As he tries to acclimate, he suffers PTSD and Kristina is the one he turns to. He find himself falling for Kristina, but can’t figure out how to make the move. Unbeknownst to him, Kristina feels the same way too. If they can find a more capable actress, Kristina’s gf can be Valerie Spencer. The last Valerie was awful.
  25. I am not feeling this pairing AT ALL. Diane is not working for me. I think the actress is coming off too eager. The characters also have nothing in common other than a sudden attraction. Not that I think that Anna and Scorpio should reunite. I like them as tense exes. They are hotter and more interesting that way. As a couple, they are pretty boring. Their history works best when they love and despise each other. Who are my leading contenders for Robert? - Lucy: They have a fun cat/mouse chemistry. They are actually friends and have a history. - Ava: I think these portrayers will sizzle, and have flavours of Robert/Anna part 1 when Anna was more of a villain - Elizabeth: can you imagine Liz with an older man?
