Y&R April 2024 Discussion Thread
Little OT: does anyone know if Lana del Rey is a Y&R fan? She played Nadia's theme twice in her 2 Coachella sets and she's used the phrase "Young and restless" quite a few times in her songs. Plus Y&R used to be very Old Hollywood - which matched her style. (you can listen to Nadia's theme at about 01h:03

At this point I'm positive they're not going fo 'shock value' per se, they're going for 'cringe-video-Twitter-virality value'. They take pride in people retweeting them out of cringeness, they probably think that's a sign of cultural relevance. It's shortsighted and it will ultimately drive the show to the ground.

Murder, She Wrote
random question - but I was always under the assumptions that the show was about the murders that Jessica - as a novelist - wrote. Cabot Cove was not a dangerous place, it was just a city in her mind. Am i wrong?

It's funny how some people here are somehow pretending they predicted this lmao I'm not that excited about the news. I know I should be - it is a good sign after all. But I wish there was some indication that the genre is being reinvented. Because it needs to. Are we still considering depicting the life of rich people? Come on. On the topic of reinventing the formula, the poster sharing that CBS might be willing to re-air the show in a night-time slot was promising. I wish I had more of those signs, but I know it's too, too early. I'm also skeptical about P&G's involvement. P&G has long history with soaps, we know that. But they haven't dealt with soaps since 2008 or so. Where has their know-how ended up? The people involved with soaps must have retired by now. And I'm sure they left no handbook. As for B&B, I remember Brad Bell playing golf with one of Netflix's big bosses... I'm sure he has a back-up plan.

KKL is a wonderful actress and she's never, ever phoned it in in 40 years. Tanner is as good an actor as Ronn Moss, maybe even less.

Same guy who posted 'can't believe this is happening' on Eric's 'death'. Same guy who posted 'you can't believe the twist that's coming up' years ago.
