  1. Which is crazy ironic seeing as how the most gays in church on Sunday morning are probably black. If she was struggling with her feelings for Robyn/sexuality in general, that may have been a part of it, but that wouldn't explain Bobby's issues. I think they honestly liked to party and it soon got WAY out of hand and extrememly dangerous/destructive/disgusting.
  2. It reminds me of when Luther Vandross died and Bruce Villanch wrote that he was "in the life" and they'd had a conversation about what revealing that would mean for his career. This is of course an issue worth discussing, but I don't know how I feel about people jumping to reveal! mere days after a person has passed.
  3. Yes, she still was beautiful, nothing losing a few pounds wouldn't fix. Susan Lucci had her first plastic surgery at around that age and just genetically, Whitney wasn't experiencing the same facial sagging despite her bad habits. I wonder if Dionne ever had her face done. She's got those crazy cheekbones that they say can carry the weight of the world on most aging faces.
  4. I always wonder what she went to do when she asked to stop for a second. I hate that my mind goes there. But whatever she was going through, I can never get over how beautiful she still looked.
  5. When Wendy Williams asked Whitney about Robyn in that infamous interview, she didn't say much. I wonder if they'd been long estranged. The ex-limo driver has written some rather damning stuff. And allegedly, Whitney met with Dr. Marc Mani about having a facelift but her heart, lungs, and liver failed his pre-op exam.
  6. Speaking of... Did you all see the letter Cissy wrote to Whitney? It's on page 12 of the program: http://www.nj.com/ne...ral_read_t.html
  7. That was nice. I always appreciate an artist making a song his or her own in an organic way.

  13. You're welcome. You are not alone, this one is always in my head too, it's those claps! I'm not a regular church goer like I was as a kid, but I remember the chills when we'd all stand and the doors in the rear of the church would swing open and the choir would march in to a song like that.
  14. LOL, I miss these days too, tunes were so catchy and fun. Mostly reminds me of riding in the car with my mom and brother. I don't drive much these days and I really think that's why I'm so out of it when it comes to what the hot songs are right now. "I'm out the door babe'uh! There's other fish.in.the.sea!" Carl, I thought of you today when I was watching the homecoming. I was hoping they'd march in to this: http://www.rhapsody.com/artist/aretha-franklin/album/amazing-grace-the-complete-recordings/track/on-our-way
  15. Oh my, 9 straight minutes of that?? Why does it remind me of Peapack? Probably got better ratings.
  16. I never saw their Behind the Music, but I later read about the allegations that Perri robbed TLC, for lack of a better word.
  17. Yes and Yes. She was married to L.A. Reid. Their spoiled son was on an ep of Sweet 16. Good Lord, Jan Crouch was entertaining. She was straight outta John Waters.
  18. Did you all notice how royally pissed off and humorless Jesse Jackson seemed? I know "humorless" is an odd criticism for a funeral, but you know what I mean. He stood a few times but seemed utterly responseless to a lot of the speakers. Maya Rudolph is hosting SNL and I keep wondering if she's gonna say something. I've been thinking of this clip a lot this week :
  19. LOL, I respectfully waited until it was just live TMZ footage outside the church but I certainly checked myself. "We live in a world where you can sit on the toilet watching the funeral of a superstar on your laptop. "

  22. LOL, not a Gayle fan? I'm sure she was invited or was O's "plus one." O may have stayed with her while she was in the tri-state area for the funeral.
  23. My ex-girlfriend told me one of my in-laws had a camera at my mother's funeral and I almost flipped the [!@#$%^&*] out. I don't think she took any pics inside the actual service, but of people outdoors. And oh my God, if I ever saw someone taking a cell phone pic of my loved one in the casket, I'm going to jail that day.
  24. SMH, I can hardly believe she was singing at Bobby's mother's homegoing two weeks before she died herself. "Be ye also ready..."
  25. They say Mariah was there but I'm not sure if the back of the head I thought was hers was really hers. Oprah and Gayle were easily spotted up front. I don't know how I missed Mary J. when I later saw a pic of her outside in a ghastly long blond wig. There was another lady with light long hair who looked like a singer but I couldn't i.d. her. I also saw Leslie Uggams.
