I really wanted to love this but I found myself easily distracted while watching. I dig the televangelist premise (I grew up watching the Bakkers and the Crouches, still watch the Swaggarts)... this show could have been a lot more gripping.

An Italian viewer was kind enough to chronologically upload the first few years of the show, albeit in Italian. I watched anyway and having some knowledge of the plotlines it wasn't too hard to follow along. It was nice to see all of Carolyn Jones' and Marla Adams' episodes. I didn't realize that Carolyn actually came back and did a few more episodes after Marla's stint.

These reunions can make me a little antsy, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one as it held my attention throughout (maybe because I'm hungry for any BTS stuff on Capitol). Constance Towers is beautiful and seems like such a lovely soul. It was nice to hear Nicholas' memories working with his Myrnas, the Trey-Myrna relationship being his favorite.
Along with the reasons some of you have already mentioned, the panelists (who were close with Conboy) shared the belief that cancellation had most to do with Conboy's ownership of the show. Capitol was a John Conboy Production and licensing was more expensive for CBS than owning another Bell show.

My soap channel. I haven't uploaded in years, I need to get back on it when time allows.

You have to distinguish the ones who really do cry naturally and the ones who use a chemical too induce. All the actresses on days seem to use something that makes their noses red and turns up the tears.
On AMC, Riegel would hold her eyes open in order to tear up. There was the tell-tale lid flickering.

I've only ever seen one episode of her AMC run (Tom and Erica's wedding - I watch it yearly on their anniversary ), but yes, Christina didn't seem to be the most exciting character. With Erica in her young, selfish twat prime and Brooke in her early vixen phase, it's hard to imagine RS could have ever stolen the show with blah Christina. Her heading for Llanview was just the best possible scenario for all involved.
Totally. Robin has said that she disliked playing "grey" Christina, and while she was reunited with Agnes Nixon, she couldn't play the "Rachel" role on AMC as Susan was already playing it. She jumped at the chance to play Dorian and has said that her Dorian was essentially her Rachel, just older and richer.

I've watched dumb soaps. I've watched nonsensical soaps. I've watched insulting soaps. But I have never in my life seen a soap this BORING.
In total agreement, and for far too long. Y&R is my warm-up until DOOL at 1pm and I never turn back.

I don’t believe Tripp raped Allie at all. I never cared about the character but none of his actions scream guilty to me.
Yeah, I'm thinking another partygoer trailed them and snuck in while Allie was passed out and raped her. Or if they go dangerously Maury with it, she had another sexual encounter on a different date that to the best of her knowledge/will doesn't fit the timeline.

Rupert Everett shares a story from his memoirs about the agonies of a film he made on Oscar Wilde. Toward the end he mentions that Joan was a true friend as she and Percy went to see his movie in spite of less-than-ideal conditions.
Rupert was interviewed for a British-made doc on Joan that used to air all the time on the Ovation network. My big takeaway from Rupert's comments was that, "Joan has a big dick."

I'm a little wary about how they're going to handle this false allegation of rape storyline. The very first thing they should do is have Tripp and the baby tested to prove paternity, but we all know how reliable blood tests are on soaps.
I hate that I can only catch the show on Mondays. Anyone know of any online resources?

Would anyone care to speculate on why TPTB did not ask Carmen Duncan to use an American accent, while playing Iris? It's not as if it cannot be done. Barbara Bejer (an American) played Bridget with a Scottish accent for more years than Duncan was on the show. And Brian Murray (a South African, who normally spoke with a very noticeable South African accent) used an American accent while playing Dan Shearer in 1978-79. So why not Duncan?
I wondered if TPTB didn't mind her having some of that Alexis Colby elan.
I recall @DRW50 suggesting that Carmen may have read for Caroline and was later reconsidered for Iris.

I was looking for an appropriate place to post this and thought, hey Vivica A. Fox is an ex-soap star (Y&R, Generations), so let me slide this here.
This clip is making the rounds: Vivica co-hosts “Cocktails with Queens” alongside Claudia Jordan, Syleena Johnson, and LisaRaye. For LisaRaye’s birthday, her co-hosts decided to surprise her with an appearance from her sister Da Brat, who had gone public with her engagement to a woman earlier this year, ending years of speculation about her sexuality.
The surprise appearance didn’t go so well (not because of Da Brat’s coming-out):
I'm really taken aback by Da Brat's silence.

I also have never enjoyed Jackson. Give me Dimitri or Travis any day.
Agreed. Maybe not so much metal rod up his ass Travis, but definitely Dimitri. My mom always said she liked Jack with Brooke rather than Erica, and Dimitri was "time enough" for Erica, a better match. As the years progressed, Jack and Erica felt more and more like a default pairing to me. Had Nader stayed on the show, I think Erica and Dimitri would have had the long-lasting on again/off again that Erica and Jack got, but who knows.

Wow! How has this gone unmentioned for all these years?? Maybe folks forgot, or just didn't catch it. I'm so glad Dorothy was picked to do it, and it really speaks to her popularity.
I had never heard of Rita Mae. Looks like they were going for their own version of Opal.
Lorna, you little bitch. That's terrible what she said to her ADOPTED brother.
That original Loving theme is quite pretty. I've mentioned this before, but Steve Harvey uses it on his morning show for their soap parody.

That's correct. Iris did not buy Donna's condo. Iris's apartment was a new set that had never been used before. I remember, it had a private elevator that opened directly into her foyer.
Yes, Iris mentioned quite a few times that her apartment was being built. The layout was very reminiscent i.e., nabbed from Alexis' on Dynasty. Iris also had a huge portrait of herself and Mac over the mantle. I wonder if Beverlee McKinsey kept the infamous portrait of Iris from the seventies.

Within the first few minutes of today's episode, it was mentioned that half the damn town was away on business. That's certainly one way to address our current situation.

I'm looking forward to this. But whenever I see a promo, I wonder just how many episodes they've got in the can. It would be a shame if they're dangling this carrot and it ends up being "a short-run series event."

Called Filthy Rich at that. There was the satirical soap of the same name by Linda Bloodworth with Delta and Dixie pre-Designing Women.
