  1. Marx is hot, but its kind of like Tom Selleck..I had the hots for Magnum more then him..(not that I would have kicked him out of bed..) so I had wanted his Tom...(I sound like those crazy people in love with Prince Richard on GL) though I don't think I could handle Lisa as a mother in law...and I think I would have been kicked out of Oakdale for not "being nice!"
  2. I think the Dobs were replaced by other writers before the strike. I wonder why they left (and then came back) It was weird. Joyce had a dumb story were she was faking cancer to marry Grant (after he was involved in a similar story not a year or two before) Lisa uncovered the plot...there were no big confrontations and one day Joyce came into the bookstore to tell Lisa she was leaving, and Grant just disappeared. But then, again, Nancy did too. A really bad time for ATWT which must have been why I never minded Gautman as much as others. Joyce as Lucinda's assistant would have drove Lisa CRAZY!!! I wish HBS and Marx had stayed on the show as they were the couple and actors who could step in for Hastings and Hayes as they did for Wagner and MacClaughlin, while still being their own type of core couple Marx in particular had a warmth but like others here, I had the biggest crush on him as he just made Tom the perfect husband..sexy and nice but not bland. Could be implants...(uh, hello Jordi V from GL, and the kid who played the gardner on DH) but then again, everyone's body is different..
  3. Michael Swan could carry it off and Parker..everything I look at him he looks like he had a sling in his apartment..but he carried it off too. I think the Dobs or whomever thought it was "mod" and masculine to have facial hair..remember for a few months Bob had a beard!! One person who needs facial hair is Justin Deas...he looked much better and was hot as Tom...as Buzz..not at all!
  4. Agreed. TPTB thought getting rid of Nancy and Chris and gutting the core would make them "modern" It was the bad sets, lighting and slow pace which made the show so dated, not the actors or characters.
  5. Pauline Kael likened watching soaps as if the characters are interacting "under water." Which describes Dobsons ATWT.
  6. Agreed..much more interesting then Jefferey Oneil and Reva getting married next to a hot dog machine. I would pay good money to hear Zimmer say.."This is NOT my first time at the rodeo Wheeler, and I have dealt with far worse then you!"
  7. The saga continues. Hot Douche and Sweet Lil Thing are not being subtle about their relationship. They are seen giggling at each other's inside jokes and seen being very demonstrative in and around the company location. Clueless Head of Company is delighted that this relationship is unfolding and puts the two on a project together so they spend even MORE time with each other. This puts Bitter in a frenzy and since she is known to have affaris with men she is on projects with, she is awarded a coworker herself, a hot muscle guy who is actually nice and charming but there is a catch, he is gay and not interested in the least, so Bitter, for the first time in many years is left without a man, while Sweet Lil Thing is pushed into a central role Bitter occupied. Meanwhile a humpy young guy has joined the company and is having quite the success. He cocky on accolades embarks on an affair with a slightly older, very sexy coworker but dumps her for another coworker. Older sexy goes BESERK and tears up offices. All of this is observed by the jaundiced eye of a vet of the company, who annoyed by her unproffesional coworkers and the sad state of the company retreats into booze. This fuels more annoyance with Clueless as Veteran is even more mouthy then usual. Clueless feels that she may have an out by renegotiating salary , due to the company's decreased performance. She implies that veteran should take a cut or others will be fired. Veteran is an old hand at this game and runs circles around Clueless, holding her to her contract, and causing Clueless into even more crying fits...
  8. I like Bogue too..but I would kick him out of bed in a minute for still sexy bald Derwin! Too bad the behind the scenes stuff was more sordid and interesting then the show. Hot married Douche(rumored by a gay gossip site to have a uh, physical reason the women go mad over him) screws married woman, (Ehlers was married right?) Woman expects Hot Douche to leave wife, he plans to then changes his mind. Newly bitter middle ages woman tries to get Hot Douche fired..all kinds of drama happens in the on the edge of collapse company headed by a neurotic, hyper emotional person in over her head. Hot Douche meets a firmer, younger, most likely dumber and much blander girl and then DOES leave his wife. Raging bitter middle aged woman goes NUTS and off the rails..Annie Dutton style without violence. Good stuff!
  9. Wow, a lot of stuff happens each day something new. Interesting that people like the Dobson's felt they needed to "contemporize" the show and it moved slow as molasses on some days...(Brad pining away for Dee, Dee pining away for Brad...) I never understood why Marland or another writer did not bring back the farm Hughes family as a contrast to the now affluent Hughes family as a counterpoint. I know they Snyders were but I HATED that damn family. Interesting to bring in a Carly like character who is great niece of Nancy and Chris to live with them in "the city" and cause all kinds of trampy trouble as Nancy deals with another rebellious vixen she has a soft spot for.
  10. LOL..Iove good old Bridget..so full of herself! Are the Dobson's still with us?
  11. I have read that before, but it does seem that he starts some storylines that the Dobsons ignore, like bringing Penny back...its odd that he didnt just coast it through.
  12. I wonder why the short term gig before the Dobsons? Was Marland slated to be the head writer. I know he started several storylines..like the Joyce return and he was getting ready for a Penny return. I wonder what might have been and why the change.
  13. Helen Wagner would not renew her contract (they only offered her 1 day a week) right before the shows 25th anniversary...(the anniversary show that year is piss poor one with Kim and Nick getting married, though at least Chris walked her down the isle.) A year later(?) they put McLautlin on recurring and they would trot the guy out for something dumb, like Margo's wedding shower and he would have no lines...Nancy and Chris came back for one episode for Tom and Margo's wedding, did not interact with anyone and were gone again until they brought Nancy back for Kim and Bob's wedding (McLaughlin must have not been well.) and then they brought them back that summer (I will forever think that ATWT had good mojo from then on for bringing an obviously failing DM back and putting him back on contract...THAT is the P & G soap I grew up on..) The contract offered to Wagner was from Fred B as an executive producer and putting Don on recurring and then getting rid of him was Bunim.
  14. From those pics someone else had very bad work done also! I don't get why good looking people just age naturally or do a small nip or tuck. I think GL's Zimmer (who I am sure had some work done ) looks great and natural and like a real person then this stuff!
  15. Too funny that they chose Frankie D to get some excitement going for the GL move.. Kimmer looks like she just came to the studio to pick up something she forgot and they asked her to film it. I loved that story from Hayden..and when she said, "He read me the riot act," Derwin said, "But with class, I am sure!" Its nice to hear good stories about our old favorites.
  16. The Emily actress blurted this out during a story about Benjamin walking in the dressing room naked on a dare from SH and just taking to Martha Byrnes and others like he was dressed. Kelly burst out with "Well what about Helen Wagner" and they all laughed like "yea.." and Martha said.."Well, that how it was in the THE-ATER" ! Funny stuff and yes, I can't scrub my mind from Nancy Hughes prancing around the Oakdale citizenry in bra and panties!!! Yes, it was a video of staff reminiscing and it was the Katie actress who talked about Don coming to smooth things over, then Hays to be. bit sterner.."kiddo" and then "If you saw Helen coming down the hall, you were in TROUBLE!" So they werent that far off from their roles!
  17. The Mindy/Mallet/Bridget/Dylan/Julie reunion Watt had a message to quit "Trashing JFP" so I would love to see what she has to say. Please..no Kriezman!
  18. I have to say, GL bringing back Meta was a great idea...(believe it or not it was McTavish who started it) and while she disappeared from the screen often (some due to Stuarts illness some not) when she was on she was a spot on tough but loving town matriarch. She had a short scene with Abuela Santos once where she firmly blew her off and put her in her place...(we needed more of evil matriarch vs. good matriarch...) All of those deaths described above cracked me up and almost seemed like a soap parody. Did Seinfeld get the out of contol wheelchair idea from Ms. Irma? Mo's death on GL was small potatoes on what she could have come up with (she would have been the original "crock pot" as death machine writer..) I think this describes it well. Charita was just a force of joy that could not be contained so the writers gave up and no matter how hard they tried, Wagner kept a distance..(I have seen interviews with her that she is very firmly NOT sweet grandma) I wonder what the cast thought of her (besides her nakedness in the make up room...) It seems when she left in 80 there was not a lot of cast remarks on her leaving.
  19. It looks alot like the orginal BevAlex Spaulding entrance living room..as it was blue but it probably different...( I know furniture from Bob Hughes living room would magically appear in Alan Spauldings office so...) Now can someone tell me where my key's are..I have too much useless memories in there.
  20. Ha..I just know her from the late 70s to 80s..as a mag once said.."She was as familiar to daytime viewers as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny!" I much preferred her Bert..warm, but could kick some ass when needed...(i.e. the frequently seen clip of her taking wheelchair Josh to task.) I could see her wanting to take Annie Dutton in ("Annie, put that dynamite down and help me with this cookie dough!") It would have been interesting to have Nancy counsel Lucinda later on the pitfulls of controlling your kids..as an acknowledgement of her past. I know when Lemay was story consultant before Marland came, (he previously had thought the Nancy Hughes model of matriarch had. a dark side and when Dywer on AW wouldnt play that he killed her off and brought Aunt Liz to the forefront..) he wrote Nancy in her first few months back with a sharper edge ("Well hello Dr. Dixon, it seems the mustache is the only thing that has changed about you." and Lisa manipulating her to have issues with Kim..) and it was much more fun. I kind of wonder how Lemay would have worked writing full time..he was making Lisa more manipulative and a spoiler in Bob/Kim, etc. I just never thought Wagner had any warmth even in her "good" Gram days. McClaughlin's Chris was supposed to be warm one there.
  21. I love the idea of Ulrich as Hope..she would have been one diva who could have dealt with Kimmer nose to nose. Lara Parker as Alexandra Spaulding...cold, classy, with a bubbling passion underneath and a woman who would cut your throat if you crossed her. I know he didn't do daytime, but Ray Wise as Alan Spaulding...or someone else suggested this..Roscoe Born as Alan. Well, my dog would have made a better Alan then RR but...
  22. Such a weird time on ATWT.. Its weird to see Deas be attractive and sexy as Tom..maybe Buzz shoulda had a beard??? Steve is obnoxious as ever..did Deas learn the gum chewing schtick from that actor. Love Ariel...what a funny "vixen"..I would have thought Marland would have loved to write for her but maybe she was more Dobson..more campy..humorous...Thought Lisa as "Dolly Valentine" was also funny, they should have kept that up.I think the Dobson's wrote well for Lisa...she was their kind of character, flamboyant, funny..but her time as STAR of the show was over and I don't think Fulton was ready for that. The reincarnation thing was really stupid but I wonder if it was ended from viewer backlash or that Zenk and the Dee actress didn't like each other? Cricket is really pretty and not THAT bad of an actress if I remember...I wonder why they didnt have her chase after Jeff, especailly with the baby thing (Annie at that time was afraid she couldn't conceive...) My Mom LOVED "Word Turns," and wouldn't watch it as the Dobson's took over. She loved Nancy..and I always thought she was a bit..creepy in a way..overbearing..controlling. I never bought her sweetness that Marland gave her. Wagner was too cold of an actress..she would have made a great rich, controlling Alexandra Spaulding matriarch of a show. I wonder if that is why the Dobsons had a hard time writing for her...going from bubbling warmth Bert to colder, more controlling Nancy had to be hard.
  23. Yes, Morgan does, he is totally laid back, nice, sexy, but regular guy Dylan...but I have to say..damn, Derwin bald and dad glasses or not is still sex on a stick..that smile, the voice, and he is funny as hell...(how many times did he drop the f bomb??) He must have the market cornered on DILF roles. Great reunion and I love that they were all aware of what a great era they were had at GL..the acting, the writing. I loved Hayden's story about WH calling her ass on the carpet about being late...and Derwin saying that GL was a "blue collar" soap in the most positive terms that people were there to work and do good stuff. I love JS diss on Days..."I had to get used to the aliens and this person was cloned.."..I notice Locker cut her off there... I loved Simms sticking up for Derwin with the bald joke "And he is working more then any of us!" and they all seem to respect each other and get along. GL would have been a great backstage place to be during that time.' Also funny, Derwin admitting that Frankie D probably aint the best actor or smartest guy around...and everyone laughing...(well he didnt say it in so many words..) and of course, when Morgan couldnt remember Ehlers name and everyone laughing..(was she the most popular person on set..seems not) but Simms nicely saying that she was a great actress. Hayden seems very Bridget-ish and I like that she in in touch with "Buffy".
  24. Wow, that's really cool I am glad Frank is doing okay, and with the issues had had on the show to say he is a proud GL Alum is really classy. Damn, they need to do a reunion with him, and the A-M actor at that time...maybe Toby Poser.. the second Hart..people cast (and [!@#$%^&*] on) by the McLaibey era. Because Babs Bloom (right?) wanted all her friends from that stupid Port Charles show on GL. What is really funny is that the appearance of Original (and hot) Dylan in the last week, acted as if that never happened.
  25. Lord, I hated boring, hook nosed Connor! Just what we need, another cold business woman who of course, is getting it on with the steroid muscle boy in tight jeans. Okay Marland, you like young guys in tight jeans..geez! What I hated was all of these influx of characters who were Lucinda's siblings, step siblings, whatever the hell they were. I love that Hubbard felt that Marland never wrote for her..actors egos are a bitch aint they? Agreed, and I grew up on the Hughes family..(my quiet nap time was during "World Turns" so my mom could watch her show in peace, so Hastings, Fulton and Wagner's voices were always..comfort food for the ears...how many times had I heard..."Now Lisa dear...")
