Here is John Clarke's first scene as Mickey Horton from November 8, 1965.

Last year someone posted "fake news" of his death, with an hour glass, a bust of his face, and birth and death dates. It was a terrible thing to do. Mike Wahl who posts in many Facebook groups spread the word that it was FAKE! I was grateful that Mike got that corrected info out there.

I knew what he meant. No worries. And, someone had brought up Potter. I believe they were wondering what

    he did between gigs.

    Maybe it was this:

    AW 64-66 EP

    ATWT Prod

    DOC 67-73 EP

    GL 76-82 EP

    GL 81 HW

    AW 83-84 EP

Those '80s clips - if there's an encapsulation of Paul Rauch's OLTL excesses better than peroxide blondes, a blind Clint Ritchie rappelling into a cave to escape stereotypical New York mobsters, Sharon Gabet howling away at disappearing corpses, and OTT fratboys sneering about being 'stoned on coke' I don't know of it. But it is a lot of fun. I did like seeing Viki and Tina by the same old kitchen table, too. I've only occasionally seen much of them bonding like that back in Andrea's original run - most of my more loving Viki/Tina memories were with Karen Witter.

I like how they're playing an instrumental version of "The Way You Make Me Feel" at the restaurant - they couldn't afford the actual Michael Jackson vocal track even in the '80s?

Lisa Peluso was always so game on any show no matter how big or in this case pointless the role. She did so many shows. She was a lifer too, a child actress I believe, and she had to fill big, big shoes taking over a key Erica Kane analog role as Ava on Agnes' Loving. It's hard to replace Roya Megnot, let alone the larger shadow of Lucci and Erica. But she was great on every show. I guess she's entirely retired to real estate now but she'd make a good short term villain on GH or something.

Yes, she was a child actress, just like Ricky Paull, Beth Ehlers, maybe more.

Reconsider what? It isn't my behavior that's alienating more and more people. There's clearly a problem rapidly developing between you and many others here. What do you think the problem is?

    I've said.

Thanks @robbwolff and @Khan! I’m just glad my question was able to be addressed while the crazy lady in the corner was screaming into her megaphone about 40 year old memoirs!

Please stop calling me names. I made one error today, none yesterday, none the day before. And, I spoke up about what it it was.

No, darling, you were banned.  That's a fact.  And you were banned, because we were as fed up with your condescension and stubborn refusal to respect GLBuzz board's rules as SON posters are now.  That's a fact, too.

I was happy to ignore your presence until you mentioned your alleged Parkinson's diagnosis in another thread, clearly as a way to elicit sympathy from others (which, I am sorry to say, although it's no fault of their own, it worked).

I know personally people who suffer from that dreadful disease.  The fact that you felt the need to "play that card" sickens me to my core.

We remember things differently. as soon as I got here awhile back someone got into a PM with me to remind me that they had left the Buzz Board the same as I had and as others had. It's appalling to me that you would say "alleged" Parkinsons diagnosis. I was diagnosed with Parksinsons in August 2012 but I had a long honeymoon. That's all over now. The very idea that you think I'm out to get sympathy is disgusting.

Donna, Khan is frustrated with you. Lots of people are. Your disappointment in someone doesn't deflect your responsibility for causing disruption. When a bunch of people are feeling the same thing about someone, the one thing that's in common, is THAT someone.

You are responsible for everything you write. But you are engaging in a revolving cycle. You are going in circles

    1) Making "mistakes" that you say you're learning from

    2) Receiving people's frustration that they post on the board

    3) and this is what varies (a) You debate them  (b) You ask for further explanation, sometimes repeatedly (c) You change the focus to someone calling you a name or saying something that you feel is insulting

Whenever you choose "C," you give yourself a pass - like now it doesn't matter that people are upset with you.

    4) You go back to repeating step 1.

You've walked into a community of people talking cooperatively, and then you basically pulled out a loudspeaker, start reading encyclopedia passages, lit fireworks, released a coup of chickens.... Typically people have two ears and one mouth -  we should all listen with twice as much time & effort, as what we put into talking. I gave you yesterday what I thought was really good advice, and you're not really receiving it.

If there's another diagnosis apart from Parkinsons that is more cognitive or behavioral in nature, I believe people here would be sensitive to that. But your actions are off the wall, and frankly sometimes upsetting to others. Like the rest of us humans, you have to adapt to what is happening around you. Society in general doesn't, and neither does a message board community, make accommodations for social disruption in their environments.

You seemed to catch onto me yesterday but not today. I don't want to alienate you. But I'm not shouting into a megaphone. I hope you will reconsider.

You DO do it on purpose, Donna.  You ALWAYS do it on purpose.  Every. Single. Time.  Only THIS time, you have the audacity to hide behind Parkinson's Disease, of all things.

Your obnoxious behavior is what got you banned once upon a time from the GLBuzz board; and if there's still a God in Message Board Heaven, it'll get you banned from here, too.

I didn't have any obnoxious behavior on the Buzz Board and I wasn't banned from it. I didn't like it and I left it. There were people at the Buzz Board that I just could not abide. My partner was the GL Editor at Soap Opera Digest and she didn't care for it either. So we both left it. I know other people who left it too. We didn't miss it.

  9. Khan, I have to say that I'm disappointed in you. When I make an error, it's definitely not because I'm dong it on purpose. It's sad for people to think that. If I were making a mistake on purpose, I would own up to it. I just make mistakes sometimes & I try my best to make up for them. It's just very human. I'm sick and tired of some people calling me names. They don't have any business doing it! They should be ashamed of themselves. They should know how to behave better than that. I'm embarrassed for them that they treat people that way. And, I am certainly NOT bringing out any illness of mine and using it. I'm working hard at doing better here to get on with all of you. I like it here. I care about it. But, I'm still going to make mistakes. I'm just already making fewer of them.

    She doesn't know.

Because Patrick McNee died and I associate with the Avengers, the original ones with McNee and Diana Rigg, and some of us DOOL fans got our nicknames, like shallotpeel and garlicpeel, etc. from John Black & the jewel thief and I got misplaced and in the wrong thread. That's something that happens to me sometimes. I never do it on purpose. 😪

Wee-elll, it was typical of his behavior already, even then, ... He took advantage of a member of the soap press, .... He took advantage of a 16 year old fan in Toronto, .... It went on & on.

I agree. Trying to turn AW into a DAYS clone was one of the biggest mistakes of those final years.

Was Joanna Going fired or did she choose to leave on her own?

Yes, AW could not be made into a DOOL clone!

I don't know about whether she was  fired or not.

Way ,way too dark for me. Ryan , Bridget and Frankie all murdered with in a year.  A disfigured Felicia lurking around the streets of Bay City.  Michael's death. The awful supernatural Jordan Stark/ Lumina story.  I found those last years hard to watch. The only few bright spots were Lila and Cindy.

David Hedison done away with. Shane's death. Unfortunately do you remember how Lila would be frightened of all storms?

  12. I have the Back Order of the Soap Opera Digest of the 2 day finale of AW. June 28, 1999 and June 29, 1999 ...

Everybody takes a turn talking about the show. The last Nick, Mark Mortimer shared a crazy anecdote:

pg. 80-81: Soap Opera Digest, June 29, 1999:
"What I will remember most is having Tom Eplin (Jake) take my pants
off (as a prank) while I was doing lines. Standing naked in dry
rehearsal in front of all of my peers. But, I just kept going. I
pulled my pants up. I was a little humiliated because it was early in
the morning and I had just come out of a cold shower (laughs). But I
proved him wrong." - Mark Mortimer (Nick, 1996-present)

I've long said soaps should be streaming. GL should have been the one to lead the way.

GL would have been perfection to lead the way with streaming! They just needed to keep the full cast on hand. And, use the new production model. And do away with sci-fi-like tales. And, park Jeffrey O'Neill and David Andrew MacDonald off the tarmac! And, cut Reva's time back to 2-3 days a week At one point they decided Grant was sucking up too much of the show. But, he really wasn't! It was Kim who was. Kim was using up 4-5 days per week. The rest of the cast couldn't tolerate that much.

DS was a generic HW. But i have a soft spot for her run. I''ll gladly take her run over the dark dreary mess AW became during it's final years. I did enjoy Jake's shooting. Marley coming into her own. As an empowered rape survivor. Marley & Jamie falling for each other in France. Ryan & Vicky. Pauline & Jake. Donna was decent.

    I loved AW's end years!

She went to "Dark Shadows" first, then "Going to Extremes."

I agree, Swajeski was a mid-level soap writer who was fortunate that AW was blessed during her tenure with a talented, appealing and cohesive cast.

Was that the primetime "Dark Shadows" that Ben Cross and Ellen Wheeler were in?

I think there was some discussion about Lisa being Felicia's daughter. Didn't Felicia stick up for Lisa when Vicky was causing problems? I always had the sense that they were gearing up for that storyline, but it got shelved when the Lisa character became less vital once Anne Heche took over as Vicky. I don't remember how Lisa left, but I assume Joanna Going could see the writing on the wall, and that's why she left.

Did she go then to that Mediterranean doctors show? "Going to Extremes"? I liked the triangle with Jamie & Vicky.

If you ask me, the two bigger strikes against SB were its' unconventionality, and the fact that it was up against GH and GL in most markets.  (Also, you'd have to take into account the BTS troubles, which definitely spilled over into the writing.)

    What is BTS trouble?

    Quote

I had no idea NBC blamed SB's dismal ratings on AW, though.  That's so damn ludicrous of them to do that, lol.

    Yes, that is ludicrous.

  17. What do you think about Robin Strasser saying this weekend that DOOL wouldn't be using her any more? She made a point of adding that she was open for any and all other projects.
