BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
The only show that would bring me back to daytime television was this show & it is because it is historic in its existence. Its the first daytime drama with its central family that's African American & an African American family of affluence, power, generational wealth, beauty, talent & its 'breaking the color barrier'. It's a glass ceiling show. It's a glass ceiling-breaking show & I'm proud to be a part of it. Back in the day when I came to New York & I landed a role on ATWT that I performed for 15 years, so I'm returning to daytime, which is fantastic & I'm returning to my home network, CBS. So it's great to be back.

I vaguely recall someone in this weird long-handle name followed by the word Hall & they were waiting on word to find out if they were being picked up for another 13 weeks! So, BITD contracts & renewals were totally different from today.

With the way they've been about L&L2 Redux I think this is likely one of Becky Herbst's safest points! Korte/Van Etten literally said Liz & Lucky are "foundational" to their current view of the show. But, they are in the process of becoming divorced. Papers have been filed so their legal status is closer to divorced than to being married.

excerpt from a blog: Between 1949 and 1960, CBS had 19 soaps. Same time frame NBC had 22 soaps. Out of all of those are 6 successes: in order: SFT/CBS, LOL/CBS, GL/CBS, Secret Storm/CBS, ATWT/CBS and EON/CBS. Note they were all CBS. Their longevity ranges from 20 yrs to 57 yrs. Another grouping from here would be considered marginally successful with longevity ranging from 3.5 yrs to 8.5 yrs. They are Hawkins Falls (NBC), From These Roots (NBC) The Brighter Day (CBS) and Young Dr. Malone (NBC). 31 failures. So, you're talking about the ones I'm calling failures, like Miss Susan, etc., right? Yes, it seems so. I asked Bing CoPilot which is AI so it could be wrong. Its reference was https://fantasy-television.fandom.com/wiki/Search_for_Tomorrow & it replied: Henderson, the fictional town in the soap opera "Search for Tomorrow," is set in an unspecified state. The show's creators never explicitly mentioned which state Henderson is located in1. It was intentionally left vague to allow viewers to imagine it in their own state or region. So, darn, shucks.

So, I taped this last night & was about to watch it when here it appeared already an edit on YT! And, what a fabulous interview she is! You go, girl! "The only show that would bring me back to daytime is this show." Loved her anecdote about Lena Horne. What memories she has. Talking about her parents both being morticians & growing up living above the funeral home. Shout-out to ATWT & also coming home to her network, CBS. She's a PR person's dream come true. And, of course she looked amazing & was so completely at ease. "Listen, it's a soap opera so as pulled up & elegant as I am, there's always time for some mess. It's going to get messy."

Which short-lived soaps are you referring to, here? That's very interesting. As you might recall I've been endeavoring to find the date that Kathy got an abortion & the researchers at Syracuse University have narrowed it down to one period of time when she went to NY state to get a legal abortion. That time is reflected in lines from scripts. The two most pertinent are as follows: -March 28th, 1972: Kathy speaks to a nurse in an admitting room and discusses the procedure that will happen the next morning. -April 11th, 1972: Kathy mentions that she has said yes to Scott’s proposal and that she finds it strange that it happened on the day she got back from “visiting Albany.” So, it's notable, perhaps, that she doesn't say "NY state" but instead says "Albany." But, then, if she lived in NY state why would she have to travel at all? Henderson must not be in NY state.

Perhaps we could apply for access to the Pine Valley transporter. But, where is Henderson? Will travel to Pine Valley be a problem?

I call Hair, Makeup & Wardrobe the Heroes of Daytime. The very first people I heard of jumping ship were one of the directors from GH & JFeatherstone, Costume Designer, from B&B whose reputation is legendary. I loved today's sneak peek even better than yesterday. And, this week of sneak peeks is so incredibly smart of them to do!!! They are writing the new texts on how to launch a new soap & they're writing it well.

Well, Maxim, not everyone loves La Lucc. She is among the many of select daytime divas who while they get a ton of love, they also get some dislike all the way through to haters. Lucci, Deidre, KKL, I could go on. Oh, no, poor Dixie! She must not be singing "You Are My Sunshine" yet then. It's altogether 'kerect, proper & things are okay in the universe if Erica is the one bringing it right now for you!! Also, enjoyed the fan review.

Oh, goodie! So, how is Ryan's death overcome? Cleverly, I'm sure. You probably recall that both Felicia & Kevin sat & sorta moaned over his dead body! I have screencaps! I hope he keeps the accent, don't you?
