I already called the rep for the district next to mine (I'm gerrymandered into a blue district so I didn't have to call my own) and let him know that even though I don't live in his district nothing can stop me from popping by to campaign for his defeat in 2018.

The irony is that's a big part of the reason why they hated Bill Clinton. He had no pedigree and openly courted young and/or black voters. I remember sitting in my dorm room when he showed up on the Arsenio Hall show in those sunglasses playing that saxophone. I can't even describe what it was like to see that. It's a joke now that Bill Clinton was called the first black president but when you look at the attacks against him, in a lot of ways he was the dress rehearsal for Obama.

I was saying that to a friend yesterday. I had no doubt that the program would move to the Obama Foundation and in some ways I'm happier it will be there far away from the Snatchgrabber and his parasite daughter. Of course, we can all start the clock on the GOP going after the Obama Foundation. Everything done to the Clintons is about weaponized for the Obamas.

I'm listening to the Senate hearing with James Comey. I can't believe how willing the Republicans are to aid and abet treason. I can't believe this is happening in my lifetime in this country.

I'm not going to get worked up until we see the language. Most of Trump's EOs are meaningless theatre. Once you read them you see they direct agencies to "review," "examine," or "research" something. They are full of the kind of Dilbertesque double-speak that is rife in the corporate world. The ones with any teeth immediately bump up against the courts. Every time Trump loses the White House doubles down on going after groups they hate as a way of ginning up the base. They ratchet up ICE raids, toss around some anti-abortion mess or start talking about ways to beat up on the LGBT community.

Now compare that to Mo Brooks saying good people don't have pre-existing conditions.

Are there people who love Mike Pence? I had a Republican friend in Indiana (A white woman who owns a restaurant in Indianapolis. We ran with the same crew in high school.) who DESPISED Pence. I don't know what he did but somehow he managed to even turn off parts of the Repub base.

Donnie's tweets are losing effectiveness. "For all the talk about his tweeting, his numbers are hardly staggering. "Trump's most retweeted post as president does not come close to matching Barack Obama's. On Jan. 22, amid broad post-inauguration protests, Trump tweeted, "Peaceful protests are a hallmark of our democracy. Even if I don't always agree, I recognize the rights of people to express their views." It was retweeted more than 82,000 times. Obama's 2012 election night post of "Four More Years" was retweeted 940,000 times"

That seems like a perfect way to end Trump's first 100 days.

What gets me is that the original "argument" against paid Wall Street speeches is supposed to be that it could signal a conflict of interest. Supposedly the issue with Hillary was that if she gave speeches for them then once she was in the White House she'd be beholden to them. That's not the case with Obama. He's never going to hold elected office again so there's no way it makes a difference. I had some Berniac on another page tell me how Bernie doesn't take paid speaking gigs. It gave me great pleasure to let that baby revolutionary know that as a sitting member of Congress Bernie is forbidden from doing paid speeches but he never corrects that misunderstanding because that doesn't play to his purity narrative. Too much of this country is stuck in permanent campaign mode and campaign mode needs a Clinton to hate on. Also, IMO, given how the resistance is overwhelmingly female a lot of people are starting to leak their latent misogyny.

And she's not even running for anything. She's just being targeted because these loons need another Clinton to hate.

Vee called it way back: being president makes him miserable. Good. I hope the stress of it wears on him more and more. He's the poster child for white male mediocrity.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
It's a small part but it was good to see her again. The funny thing is that the show was playing on my computer and was doing something else then suddenly I heard that alto voice of hers and instantly recognized it before seeing her on the screen.

Beth Chamberlain (ex-Beth, GL) was on last night's episode of Law & Order: SVU. She one of those former soap actors that I'm always happy to have pop up on my screen.

I never thought of that one as a troll. The original remark...yeah. It's just so funny because the 2008 primary is the only time my mom and I have ever been on the opposite side of a issue. We've had issues where our level of engagement is different - LGBT rights for example - but we've never been opponents. Of course when I remind mom of that she's very quick to point out that she had nothing against Barack but she simply didn't know him while she'd been a supporter of Hillary's for decades. Hillary was family and Obama was that cousin that we'd never seen at a previous reunion. But don't dare make it sound like she likes one more than the other. She loves them both like they were made of cake. I'm sick of purity ponies screaming "sellout" whenever they encounter real world politics. I have my dealbreakers, one of which is reproductive rights, (I could and will never vote for an anti-choice Dem.) but I am one of those dreaded establishment pragmatists so I'm going to do what needs doing. Also, as a black woman, purity politics are a luxury I can't afford, like trusting the police. It's the reason I'm sending money to Rob Quist in Montana. He was a Sanders supporter and is anti-gun control and under most circumstances I wouldn't send him a dime but every seat in Congress matters. Every single [!@#$%^&*] one.

I'll tell that to my mother, a woman raised in Jim Crow Mississippi who took a colored bus to school. I'll make sure to let her know that her support of Hillary over Obama could only be the result of her being a MSM sellout. Seriously. This purity bull is ridiculous.

By now those of us on the left need to stop freaking out with every EO. It's very clear he uses them to ratchet up the reality show drama and create the illusion of real action. He drops a bunch of EO's then backtracks. Typical conman behavior. Neither the far right or the far left seem to realize that NAFTA was a Republican idea. The Agreement itself was signed by Bush 1. The thing that Clinton signed was the NAFTA Implementation Act. Yet somehow the Republicans have managed to fool people into blaming Clinton for NAFTA.

Barack Obama gave this country his best for eight years against immoral, venal opposition all while his wife was called a tranny and his kids were called monkeys. People who were supposed to be on his side ran from his accomplishments and/or sold him out and threw away his hard work and legacy. Now those same people want even more from him. If Barack Obama wants to spend the rest of his natural born days hanging out with celebrities and billionaires, sitting on a yacht smoking the best weed money can buy and sexing up Michelle on the regular, he does so with my blessing. He owes us nothing.

It's not Democrats doing that, it's "progressives." From what I've heard this was an issue with the women's movement too. You'd get these men claiming to be allies but they were only allies as long as they were deferred to. That's how it is now with white progressives. POC rejected their candidate and when we expected them to do what minorities have done for decades and put the coalition ahead of their first choice they shoved us into the crosshairs. Now Trump is being used by progressives to marginalize us even further. "We can't fight Trump if you coloreds and women keep demanding to be treated like equals." This is a common problem with progressives. They keep looking for "the one." Then when that one has to deal with the real world and makes pragmatic decision then they become a "sellout." They build people up just so they can tear them down. It's one of the reasons I lose it when people say Michelle Obama should run. These folks just can't wait to nail her to the cross.
