This is how I feel. I think this is a hot garbage cast and I wish them luck in creating a compelling show because I just don't see it.

@Cat do you remember Amanda de Cadenet? She was a UK tabloid figure for a time and hosted some breakfast TV shows for a while.

Seeing Eva La Rue - St. Maria of Wildwind, tending to the sick in her push up bra - is fun, though I hope she's ready for Vyle.

A good follow up to last week's premiere. Unlike the last season of Potomac, which was a total flop bar the last episode, there is a simmering tension on NJ that is going to sustain this season and make it feel exciting.

Production exaggerated when they said that Teresa and Melissa were not going to film together - we're two episodes in a row where they are at the same event. They simply don't interact and that's fine by me.

Teresa: those lips are poorly injected and have lost any hint of natural shape.  Her discussion with Jenn Fessler at the end of the episode is understandable, given she's trying to figure out what 'the plan' against her was for the reunion. Unfortunately, whenever Teresa has to think, it's going to be difficult. 

Jenn Aydin: nice to see some of her kids, including the iconic Olivia. Not surprised that Bill is not appearing. I think he has stepped back from the show and the exposure. I liked seeing her friendly with Marge.

Marge: enjoyed seeing her friendly with Jenn Aydin. Enjoyed seeing her with the Gorgas at their Shore house. They have always gotten along nicely. 

Danielle: nice event for her husband and it's nice to see her getting along with Rachel. They are wise to align with each other. 

Rachel: I like that she could move on and be friends with Danielle. Seeing Jenn Fessler ditch her for colluding with Teresa, you could see the wheels turning that she's been suckered.

Jenn Fessler: beautiful plastic surgery and Ozempic work. But she's a snake and as fair weather a friend as there is. She jumped to spill information to Teresa faster than I've ever seen another housewife change sides. Not admirable. She wants a full time spot on this show so badly. The thirst is real with this one. 

Delores: virtually nothing from her this season aside from the scene where she discussed the importance of being financially independent (true!).

Melissa: she has a lovely family. They all seem to really like each other and have fun. The moment where her gay cousin acknowledged how Joe Gorga embraced him and his fiancé was really nice.  It's a reminder Joe has his sweet and gentle side. But ouch was she bothered by Teresa's presence at the party. As Camille Donnatacce Grammer Meyer would say: you lose, [Melissa].

The ratings suggest otherwise. It was another major ratings grabber and it's Peacock ratings were also through the roof.

I do agree that the season itself was a flop and the last 3 minutes could easily be a series finale. What production has to grapple with is Ariana and Katie are never going to film with the group the way production needs. And there is a huge audience that supports them, so they have to retool somehow.

The episode was enjoyable but it was giving me shades of RHOP with half the women refusing to film/interact with each other. I cant take another show like that. The show needs to be put on pause when this is done and a reboot where we get mass layoffs

Delores had an elegant way of saying it was common for them to have a "meeting of the minds" prior to a reunion. At least she freely owns up to it for what it is. 

@Cat put it well - this is like Real Housewives of Thunderdome. 

I saw that Jenn Fessler was with Marge again at an event, so we'll see how long her jump to Teresa lasts.

Melissa couldn't even focus on her daughter going to college as she had to toss in that line about Gia to spark a reaction from Joe. That wasn't lost on me, and I know what she was doing. I am not stunned that Marge the Puppet Master tried staging a coup before the reunion. It now makes sense why that whole reunion went awry. It was all part of  Marge's plan. What she didn't bet on was that Jenn Fessler was going to expose her for doing it. 

I don't get why Jenn F. or Jackie aren't full-time. Much like Miami needs to do, just have a cast of 9 women. I think had Jackie and Jenn been full-time, it could have shifted the tide and made the show more bearable. 

And Paulie arguing with all those men was pointless. Paulie was talking like an adult with logic, and of course, Joe Gorga's puppet, Magilla Gorilla, got hostile. 

Furthermore, I find it odd that he's trying to lord Tre going to prison as something to put him in a moral high ground. Dude, you "allegedly" sold drugs and got in trouble for it. You're no better. If you want people to not address your past, you should do the same. 

Bravo/Andy is going to have to make a hard decision going forward. Teresa or MeHo/Tiny Tim. Quite frankly, I'd pull a RHONY and reboot the entire show with all-new women. This show cannot move forward in its current state. 

I don’t think we really disagree. My thesis statement is all of them, except Dolores, are trash and villains in each other’s stories.

And so it begins...another season of hell...where each cast member is a villain in someone else's story.

Jenn Fessler: I have no idea why she isn't a main cast member given the premiere was about her birthday and the previews feature her shifting loyalties regularly. 

Teresa: I cannot ever warm to Teresa because 1) she is unspeakably stupid and 2) when she rhetorically asked why she had been through everything she'd been through, ever the long suffering heroine, I had to resist throwing my TV out the window given she 'endured' what she has because she committed mortgage fraud and was convicted in a court of law and went to jail for her crimes, yet doesn't own up to anything she did wrong. 

Danielle: she wisely sat out the premiere for the most part and appeared to play nice. 

Jenn Aydin: she is quick to jump on social media rumours, so her hypocrisy about the truth of her husband cheating on her continues to boggle my mind.

Rachel: like Danielle, she played nice for the most part until the end of the episode, where she attempted to have a confrontation with Teresa, which we all know is a waste of time because Teresa just gets loud and starts to blink. I did enjoy her grandmother referring to Jenn Aydin as 'the nose'...when you're that lady's age, you just stop giving a damn.

Melissa: now here is a woman who is going to keep her head down this season. She could not bear the site of Teresa. Focusing on her daughter's college story is a smart move because the audience can relate to it and it's bland and uncontroversial, but not fake as most of her previous stories have been.

Marge: I like that she played nice with Jenn Aydin and otherwise she is like Melissa and cannot bear the sight of Teresa. You can see the wheels are in motion this season with several of her friends jumping ship to Teresa. 

Jackie: I can see why producers cut her, what exactly does she bring to the show anymore?

Dolores: the only one I would want to have dinner with in real life.

The Husbands: Louie remains a walking red flag. The tension between Louie and John Fuda is going to stoke some serious tension this season. Always enjoy seeing Marge's Joe, while Melissa's Joe is practically quivering in the sight of Teresa. Paulie was looking for a spot in the opening credits with how he needlessly involved himself in the dispute between Louie and John - it was illogical and not a great look for him.

Yes, the hate is real for real. It seems like half of Northern New Jersey is personally invested in the show -- in being a part of it, in collecting a paycheck from it, in making a living in the RH ecosystem off of it (podcasts, etc). The cast themselves are highly invested in remaining on the show and will literally destroy family relationships to stay. Marge has apparently accrued serious dirt on everybody, to the point where if this were Murder, She Wrote, she'd be in danger, girl.

I'm not sure this season should even have happened. But I will see how long it can hold me. Last season was an almighty chore.

That townhouse is a true burden on Sonja and she needs to be free from it. It is too much house for her, too much maintenance, and there are too many memories attached to it.

Angela had her facelift a lot earlier than people think. She had her first facelift when she debuted as Mame on Broadway in 1966. She had her lower eyes done a few years later to rid herself of under eye bags. 

She then had her neck and chin tightened up in the late 1970s before having another neck tuneup in 1986. Angela had another facelift in the early 90s. 

She was really something of a pioneer in very good, conservative work.

Whatever work she had done during Murder, She Wrote was not blatantly obvious and in your face.

Angela was mostly preoccupied with her jawline and any perceived jowls. It's somewhat hard to screw up a lower face lift except if the pull is too tight around the mouth. Angela left her lines alone, so she never strove to look 'young' she strove to look 'good' and she looked great as a result.

I could be wrong, of course, but I suspect Lansbury butted heads more with Moessinger than she did with Peter S. Fischer.  Say what you will about the first seven seasons of MSW - especially in the last two seasons when, to quote Fischer, Cabot Cove was getting too cute for its' own good - but they did retain a "literary quality" that Moessinger's lone year as showrunner lacked (J. Michael Straczynski's scripts notwithstanding).  Which isn't to say that S8 was a terrible year!  Moessinger and his team certainly broadened Jessica's world and put the show back in the Top 10.  But whenever I watch reruns from that particular season, I often feel like I'm watching a Dean Hargrove-produced series (like "Matlock" or "Diagnosis: Murder") rather than classic MSW.

You are not wrong. Peter S. Fischer and Angela Lansbury enjoyed a very productive working relationship and when he left she understood that he was simply burned out and felt like he'd run out of ideas, something she herself experienced twice before he left.

On the other hand, I get the distinct impression that Lansbury did not align with David Moessinger and disliked the writing for the season he was showrunner. 

There isn't any bad season of MSW but for the 'bookend' episodes that I think are all trash.

Lansbury said in her Archive of American Television interview that Jessica having an apartment in Manhattan was her idea and that she wanted Jessica to be more sophisticated - you'll notice that her wardrobe gets an upgrade when she moves to Manhattan and Jessica starts the pantsuit era that she sticks with through the end of the series.

David Moessinger did not last very long and when he was out after 1992, Lansbury took full control of the show through her Corymore Productions banner.

I always enjoyed the soaps she wrote for when she was part of their teams. That can't be a coincidence. That Bill Bell saw her potential speaks volumes about her skill. 

She was a lovely on screen presence. May her memory be a blessing.

While the ouster of Steve Kent is likely a good thing, I am not convinced that Sony and a private equity firm purchasing Paramount Global (and therefore CBS itself) is a positive. It would, however, make Y&R an 'in house' production for CBS.

Private Equity is good at one thing: maximizing profits and then breaking assets apart to sell for a great return. 

The consolidation of Hollywood studios has been going on for some time now and it will be interesting to see how it all ends up. 

I'm rooting for Jennifer Gareis for supporting - she's been in the trenches for years and her time at Y&R is what she should have been nominated for...but what the hell!

It's very common practice for network contracts in primetime to be for 5 years and in daytime for them to be for 4 years. Renegotiations still happen, but most actors are on long term contracts at the outset. In daytime, the 13 week pickup cycle is what gives the network the ability to terminate the actor with relative ease.

The shorter term contracts are more common once a primetime show is established, or for a daytime show, when the actor has been in the role for a longer period of time and wants flexibility. 

CBS will be owning The Gates, so the show itself is unlikely to have any contract itself, much like GH. 

Haven’t watched the show in months but will be tuning in to these intervention episodes.
