  1. End of the month - July 1968 is now complete :)

    #3199 – Monday, July 29th 1968

At the Hughes’, Bob told Chris that Chuckie should be safe and he might leave the hospital before the end of the week. Bob added he felt ready to go to Los Angeles to learn more about cornea transplant. He told his father he had learned to use his senses more easily and would like to help the blind people even if he got his sight back. Nancy arrived to talk about Penny. She told Chris and Bob about Judith’s call. Nancy was afraid that Penny couldn’t go through with her past ordeals : Neil’s death, the loss of Jimmy. Chris and Bob both thought Penny had to face the future. Nancy said that as Chuckie was doing okay, she could live for New York and see her daughter. Bob wanted Nancy to tell Penny about his eyesight and Sandy’s disappearance but Chris thought Nancy should talk with Judith and Jerry Stevens first.

The following morning, Dick visited Chris in his office. Chris told Dick that Chuckie should be fine. Dick told Chris he had went to see Claire and told her to call Michael because a man of honor would act if his baby was in critical condition.

At the Cassens’, Judge Lowell tried to know what Dick told Claire the other day but she didn’t answer. Michael rang the door and Judge Lowell excused himself. Michael told Claire he wouldn’t see Chuckie at the hospital. He had always been clear with her he was not interested in having children. He wouldn’t act hypocritically. He wanted her to forget about Lisa and the kid. Claire said she needed to think it through.

    #3200 – Tuesday, July 30th 1968

In Chuckie’s hospital room, Lisa was with Nurse Doyle and felt better that Chuckie seemed to be on his way to recovery. Bob arrived. He was happy Chuckie was doing better and told Lisa he would go to San Francisco for cornea transplant. Lisa made him promise he and Tom would have dinner with her once he came bacK. She thanked him again as she said he was part of saving Chuckie’s life.

Tom visited Alma. They talked about Bob going to San Francisco and Tom questioned her about Chuckie’s supposed parents. He told Alma it didn’t make any sense that Lisa didn’t know who Chuckie’s father was if Chuckie’s mother was such a good friend of Lisa’s. She probably told Lisa who the father was as she knew she was dying. Alma tried to dimiss the questions and Tom went home.

Lisa came home and told Alma that Bob agreed to come dinner after he was back from San Francisco. Alma tried to say Lisa shouldn’t get her hopes high. They talked about Tom and Alma said he had a lawyer’s mind as the way he reasoned thinking she knew who Chuckie’s father was. Lisa assured Alma she would find something to tell Tom if he asked her someday.

Tom arrived home. Pa told him Chris and Nancy were dining outside so he offered Tom to go to a Chinese restaurant together. Sally arrived to have news on Chuckie. When Pa said she could join him and Tom for dinner, Tom dismissed violently the idea. While Pa went upstairs to get dressed, Sally asked Tom why he was acting rude with her. Tom said girls didn’t deserve to be treated nicely. Sally left in tears. Pa wondered why Tom was acting this way.

    #3201 – Wednesday, July 31st 1968

Lisa was preparing herself to go to the hospital. Alma wanted to see Nancy before she left on her trip. Alma asked Lisa about her previous plans to get Chuckie’s father to marry her but Lisa said she had changed her mind. She was happy with Chuckie being her « adopted » son for Tom and Alma complained about the baby not having a father in his life. Alma said Nancy worried about the boys Tom was spending time with.

At the Hughes, Chris told Pa he was hoping things would be okay between Nancy and Penny. He said that if Penny had known Sandy left the same day Penny went to New York, she might have come back. Nancy came downstairs. Pa assured Nancy he would take care of everything while she was away. Pa wondered if Tom might want to go to California with his father but Nancy said he had to study if he wanted to join university on the fall. Nancy asked Pa to call Alma to tell her she was having an earlier plane. Chris and Nancy left for the airport.

Lisa visited Bob in his office. She wanted to see him before he left for California. She said that she wished she could have come with him but Bob said that was absurd and made it clear he intended to stay married to Sandy, no matter what was going on at the time. Lisa kissed him goodbye. After Lisa left, David arrived. Bob was not happy with Lisa trying to seduce him. David said he remembered Bob had good times with Lisa then Bob reminded him of all the failures – Bruce Elliot, Lisa’s marriage to John Eldridge, her recent baby… Bob wished he knew who Chuckie’s father was. David then said Dan would like to go to San Francisco with Bob and Bob said it was a good idea.

Nancy had arrived in New York. Judith told Nancy she was worried about Penny. She didn’t communicate neither with her, nor with Jerry. Judith asked Nancy if she planned to tell Penny about Bob and Sandy. Nancy said that if Penny would come back to Oakdale, the situation would be complicated as the Wilsons blamed her for the situation. As Roy McGuire was working in New York, Nancy asked Judith if Penny was seeing him but Judith didn’t think. Judith added she didn’t talk about Neil, or Jimmy.

From the July 68 synopses that French Fan has so kindly supplied there is no sighting or mention of Don Hughes. According to all references Peter Brandon played Don from 65-72.

In 68 the Don/Amanda/Sara story had played out with Amanda on trial for Sara's death. That all happened in 67.

There really isn't any more mention of Don until he becomes involved with Lisa in 72.

So is Don/Peter Brandon on a break in the summaries we are seeing now, or was the character written off?

@FrenchFan any info in coming episodes?

I think there was a line during 4th of July. Nancy was sad that Penny and Don didn’t live in Oakdale anymore. I will Check.

Here is what I found in soapcentral so I guess Don was out for a moment.

After the trial, Amanda would mature into a well-adjusted young lady and she and Don would briefly date. Later, Don found himself in a professional rivalry with Attorney Dick Martin, who was hired at the firm. Though Don tried to get Dick to resign, he was unsuccessful and again left Oakdale. Don returned to the family when Chris had a heart attack and immediately started criticizing Bob and Dr. David Stewart of being too cautious regarding Chris's care

David drove Tom back home. Tom was very silent and made a point of saying Chuckie was his brother, not his adopter brother when David asked him about how he felt for the boy. David tried to say the surgery was quick and Chuckie had good chances of recovery. Tom questioned David about Lisa’s friend who was supposedly Chuckie’s mother and the kid’s father but David assured he didn’t know more that Tom.

At the Hughes’, Pa was worried about Tom supposedly learning the truth about Chuckie at hospital just when David and Tom arrived. David told Pa, Nancy and Chris that Chuckie was in Recovery and that the fact the 9 month old baby survived surgery was a good sign. After David left, Tom said he needed a walk. Nancy was worried but Chris and Pa thought the boy had to clear his head.

Back home, David told Ellen how surprised he was with Tom being so worried about Chuckie. He said Tom questioned him about Chuckie’s father.

Tom walked to Sally’s home. He told her Chuckie had internal hernia and had to undergo surgery but he survived. He also told her he made a lot of thinking about law school, possible marriage… They were too young and they shouldn’t talk about that. Sally was hurt.

At the hospital, Alma had arrived from Rockford and Bob told her about the situation. Bob thought Lisa should go home but Alma was not sure she could convince Lisa. As Bob went home for the rest of the night, Alma entered the hospital room and Lisa sobbed in her mother’s arms.

    #3195 – Tuesday, July 23rd 1968

At the hospital, Alma tried to convince Lisa she should go home and get some rest but Lisa couldn’t imagine leaving. She told her mother how much Bob had been a rock to her during this ordeal. She also said she realized how much Chuckie meant to Tom.

In his bedroom, Tom remembered the hospital staff talking about Chuckie being Lisa’s son. Bob arrived. He told his son how serious Chuckie’s condition was. They had a father-son talk and Tom said he felt he understood his father better.

At the hospital, Dan was ready to get home. Karen asked him about Chuckie as Dan helped during the surgery and Dan said he hoped the kid would get better. Karen noticed it was strange that Dan was involved in saving the baby’s life twice. She said Susan was a lucky wife.

Dan arrived and Susan asked news about Chuckie. When Susan said she couldn’t imagine what Lisa went throught and wouldn’t want that, Dan got angry and noticed Susan couldn’t miss a chance to insist on her disinterest for children. Angry, Dan got back to the hospital.

Back at the hospital, Dan went to see Lisa. Alma left with Nurse Ames to get coffee. Lisa remembered when Dan took care of Chuckie who was premature. Dan said he hoped Chuckie would pull it through.

The following morning, Pa and Nancy were in Pa’s workshop when Tom arrived. Tom was told Chuckie was holding on. Pa mentionned Sally called and wanted Tom to phone her back but Tom angrily said he would not.

    #3196 – Wednesday, July 24th 1968

Chris was in his office with Dick. He told Dick about what happened the previous night – Tom and Sally babysitting little Chuckie, calling Bob for help, the baby being brought to the hospital and undergoing surgery. Chris also said he couldn’t understand Tom’s behavior. Dick asked if Michael was aware of Chuckie’s situation but Chris was unsure Lisa would like him to know. Dick said he would talk to Claire about this and Chris noticed Dick was not acting like her attorney at the point.

At Lisa’s, Alma told her daughter Bob called to say Chuckie was still in recovery. Lisa learned Tom went to school. She didn’t understand why Tom was so concerned but he was not was her then. Alma was worried about how this crisis could put light on Chuckie’s real paternity. Lisa said she had to go to the hospital and Alma went with her.

At the hospital, Dan was told by Nurse Crane that a young boy was waiting for him. It was Tom who wanted to know how Chuckie was. Dan assured even Dr. Parker couldn’t say as Chuckie was very frail but his recovery was all right at the moment. Tom questioned Dan about the time he took care of Lisa having pneumonia, nine months ago.

Sally arrived at the Hughes’. She told Pa that Tom said pretty hurtful things and acted as if Chuckie was his real brother. When Tom came back, he told Pa it was over with Sally because he realized he was too young to be steady. Pa asked what caused this change of mind but Tom didn’t answer and went upstairs to study.

    #3197 – Thursday, July 25th 1968

In Chuckie’s hospital room, Dan told Lisa he was surprised Tom asked to see him. When Bob arrived, Lisa talked with him about Tom. She found it weird he came to talk to Dan but didn’t ask for her. Lisa also made it clear she wanted to take care of Chuckie once he was out of Recovery, not nurses.

Ellen and Christine talked about Dan’s career. Christine was surprised Susan didn’t have a family yet. She said she was friend with her when Susan was in intern and Christine a student nurse but they hadn’t seen each other for a while. Christine also said she missed the kids at the orphanage and asked Ellen if she could go and visit them. Ellen said she hoped she wouldn’t lose Christine. Claire arrived and Christine went to the orphanage. They talked about Chuckie but Judge Lowell called and told Claire that Dick Martin was at home and wanted to see her.

At the Cassens’, Judge Lowell told Dick that a letter from Michael had just arrived from Inneapolis for Claire. He made it clear to Dick how worried he was about Claire’s behavior around Michael. After Judge left, Dick told Claire she should tell Michael about his son being hospitalized. He told Claire that if Michael was as respectful as he pretended he was, Claire had to tell him. Claire offered Dick a dinner invitation and he agreed.

    #3198 – Friday, July 26th 1968

Nancy prepared dinner at home with Pa. She had received a letter from Judith Stevens. Judith and her husband, Jerry, were worried about Penny who had isolated herself from her mother-in-law. Nancy told Pa she should see Penny but Penny had no idea what happened with Sandy or Jimmy living with the Wilsons. She didn’t know if she would do her trip because Bob should go to San Francisco for his cornea transplant after Chuckie was better. She hoped Tom would go with Bob to reconnect.

Judge Lowell, Claire and Dick were having dinner at the Cassens’ when Michael phoned. He understood Claire couldn’t talk freely and said he would phone later. Judge Lowell and Dick knew it was Michael but they all agreed not to mention his name during dinner. After Dick left for a committee meeting, Judge Lowell tried to know why Claire was feeling weird during the dinner. She said Michael would phone her soon and she would like to be alone.

At the Hughes’, Nancy had told Chris she didn’t think Penny would come back but she would like to go to New York. Chris thought it was okay for her to go. Tom came downstairs and said he was heading to the hospital.

Alone, Claire had Michael on the phone. She told him she would like him to come back to Oakdale that night because his son was at the hospital. Michael was sure the baby was being cared.

At the hospital, Chuckie had been brought back from Recovery to his room. Bob said Lisa she had to be careful. Tom arrived and when he noticed his mother was in the room, he said he would come back the following day.

  4. 6 minutes ago, Paul Raven said:

There was a lot of repetition and flashbacks, as many viewers couldn't watch everyday and no VCRs or newspaper summaries to help.

Also with the show being live a flashback that took up a few minutes of airtime made it easier on the cast and crew working that day.

Those were the days when the older characters like Pa Hughes and Judge Lowell got airtime and a point of view. By the 80's whatever vet characters were left got wheeled out once in a while to be a listening post or a few lines in a crowd scene.

Exactly, I love how Pa Hughes and Judge Lowell are very integrated in the story. Judge Lowell and Claire's scenes are the best when he told her his mind about Michael.

  5. #3189 – Monday, July 15th 1968

Pa told Chris how Tom and Sally were babysitting little Chuckie when he got fever and that Tom called Bob to help. Chris didn’t like the fact that Tom was babysitting. He also told Pa that Nancy wanted to go visit Penny in August but Chris thought Penny should come back home.

While Judge Lowell was reading a mystery novel, Claire tried to know where he went at night. He admitted he went to see Ellen to talk about how worried he was about Claire seeing Michael again. Claire assured Judge Lowell she would keep on seeing Michael, she was sure things were different. She had realized she was the first woman Michael ever loved. She would see Dick Martin for dinner thought the following day.

Tom arrived home. He told Pa and Chris that Nancy sent him bring Sally back at her place. He told them the baby seemed ill and Bob and Dr. Thompson were taking care of the situation. Nancy called. She told Chris she was at Lisa’s. Bob and Dr. Thompson drove Chuckie to the hospital as the situation was serious. She was waiting for Lisa. Chris said he would join Nancy and then drive her and Lisa at the hospital as soon as Lisa was back.

Lisa was on her way back home from the concert she attended with neighbour Judy Becker. When Lisa entered, Nancy told her very gently about Chuckie being at the hospital. Lisa broke down in tears.

    #3190 – Tuesday, July 16th 1968

At the Stewarts’, David told Ellen he regretted not going to Lisa’s when Bob asked him. Ellen tried to ease his conscience as he was very tired with all the work he was doing lately.

Tom was angry at Nancy as she pushed him to leave but he wanted to remain near Chuckie. Pa tried to reason him but Tom was fed up being treated like a child. David called. Pa had to tell him Bob brought Chuckie to the hospital. Tom was furious he was not told about the seriousness of the situation and he left for the hospital despite Pa’s saying.

Nancy tried to calm Lisa when Chris arrived. They left for the hospital. At the hospital, Susan asked Karen if she had seen Dan. She informed Karen that Chuckie was at the hospital and the kid might need surgery.

Meanwhile, Ellen talked to David about Christine. She was sure the woman would finally leave the house but David refused to discuss the matter and would like Ellen to respect the trial period they all agreed to have. David couldn’t stop thinking about Bob and decided to go to the hospital.

At the hospital, Bob and Dr. Thompson agreed that Chuckie needed surgery but Dr. Parker couldn’t be located. Lisa arrived with Chris and Nancy. Even if Nurse Ames tried to stop her, Lisa wanted to see Chuckie immediately. Dan stopped Lisa and asked Bob to talk to her. She cried hysterically.

    #3191 – Wednesday, July 17th 1968

Christine had put the Stewart girls to bed and she asked Ellen to borrow a book in the library. Ellen told Christine about Lisa Hughes’ story – how she adopted a child and how this child was then hospitalized. They reflected about how Tom’s life was affected by his parents’ divorce. Ellen asked Christine to keep an eye on the kids as she wanted to see her mother.

At the hospital, Bob brought Chris, Nancy and Lisa to a small room. He explained to them that Chuckie needed surgery. He wanted Dr. Parker to proceed but he was not located yet. He asked Lisa to trust him and she agreed. Bob asked Lisa if she wanted to contact the father. Lisa wondered if he might care. David arrived at the hospital and Dan told him Chuckie would need surgery for Mackel’s Diverticulum. Bob joined them. They worried about Dr. Parker not being available. Meanwhile, Chris phoned Pa and told him about Chuckie needing surgery. Pa told Chris that Tom heard it talking on the phone with David and that Tom left for the hospital.

Dr. Thompson thought the resident should do the surgery but Bob insisted to wait for Dr. Parker who was at theater. In the waiting area, Lisa told Chris and Nancy she might be punish for her behavior but Chris and Nancy dismissed her fears. Lisa decided to call Michael but she learned he was out of Oakdale.

    #3192 – Thursday, July 18th 1968

While Lisa was on the phone, Nancy and Chris remembered the time Tom was a child and was also hospitalized. Nancy tried to know from Chris if Lisa had contacts with Chuckie’s father but he dismissed her. David arrived and told Dr. Parker would perform the surgery and Dan would assist him. Nancy remembered Dan took care of Lisa when she had pneumonia when Chuckie was born.

At the Cassens’, Claire told Judge Lowell she would like to go on a cruise as Penny suggested in the note she sent her. Judge Lowell thought she should talk to Dick as he took one. Michael called from Indianapolis to say goodbye. Ellen arrived and told Claire and Judge Lowell that Lisa’s son was at hospital in need for surgery. She noticed how lonely Lisa should feel without Chuckie’s father at her side.

Nancy found Lisa who was phoning her mother. She told Lisa she could go and see Chuckie before the surgery. Dr. Parker assured Lisa he would do his best to save Chuckie. Lisa then told Bob Alma would be there as soon as she could get a plane back from Rockford and that she tried to contact the baby’s father to no avail. Bob and Lisa remembered that December years ago when Tom was hospitalized and Doug Cassen saved his life. Bob comforted Lisa.

Chris told Nancy what Pa told him on the phone – Tom was supposed to be on his way to the hospital. Meanwhile, Tom arrived. He heard a resident and the supervisor talking about how surprising it was that Dan Stewart was attending the surgery as he was also the one who was present when Mrs. Hughes gave birth to her premature baby. Tom was dumbfounded then asked for Lisa and found her with Chris, Nancy and Bob. Lisa fell into her son’s arms.

    #3193 – Friday, July 19th 1968

Bob had sent Nancy and Chris back home. They talked to Pa about the situation at the hospital. Pa asked about the baby’s father and Nancy said he should be with Lisa. Pa was also afraid Tom would learn that Chuckie was really Lisa’s son at the hospital as the kid was born there and many people knew Chuckie was Lisa’s biological son.

At the hospital, Tom, Bob and Lisa were in the room waiting for news. Bob left to get news and Lisa realized Tom was nervous. He remembered what he heard about Chuckie also when Lisa told him about her friend dying and how she wanted to adopt the little boy. Tom then asked Lisa if her friend in Rockford told her who the father of her son was before she died. Lisa assured she didn’t.

Bob asked Nurse Ames to ring surgery. In surgery, Dr. Parker and Dan were surprised to find an internal hernia but they could end the surgery. David arrived and told Bob the surgery was over and Chuckie was sent to Recovery. He told him about the hernia. Bob wanted to talk with Dr. Parker.

Dr. Parker and Bob joined Lisa and Tom. Dr. Parker assured the surgery was okay. Bob told Tom he should go back home with David driving him. Tom remembered again the talk he overheard about Lisa giving birth to Chuckie.

  6. #3911 – Monday, February 10th 1969

At Nick’s, Nick was afraid Amy would feel lonely at her place after the divorce papers were signed. She assured him she couldn’t wait for the divorce to be signed. At Amy’s, Paul sent Mrs. Giddens over to stay with Lisa. He couldn’t cope with the fact that Amy was pregnant. Paul phoned Jill to learn if Amy was at her place but she said she wasn’t. After they hung up, Jill wondered why Paul was at Amy’s. When Sam appeared, Jill asked him if people could be happy forever as a married couple. She was clearly thinking about her and Ken. Sam answered he was but didn’t know if he would be again. Jill wondered if he was talking about Valerie. Sam smiled but didn’t answer.

Nick drove Amy back home and they were surprised to find Paul inside. Nick was curious Paul wanted to be alone with Amy but Nick left. Paul confronted Amy with what Mrs. Giddens said. Amy had to confess she was pregnant. Paul realized that’s the reason Amy had symptoms and consulted with Dr. Hadley. Amy admitted she didn’t want an husband who didn’t love her and was only staying with her because of the baby. Paul said he couldn’t divorce her. After Paul left, Amy cuddled Lisa. She knew Paul didn’t love her anymore and she said she had to keep him away from her.

    #3912 – Tuesday, February 11th 1969

The following morning, Paul called Jill and asked her to cancel whatever appointments he had on the morning. After they hung up, Jill told Ken about how weird the situation seemed to be with the Brittons. Ken said he would work with Laurie on another song at Val’s. He wanted to ask Laurie to dinner in order for Jill and Laurie to meet.

Paul visited Belle. He told her the news : Amy was pregnant with his child. Belle was shocked and couldn’t understand why Amy would have kept the news from Paul. When Belle asked Paul what he would do, he said he could only go back to Amy. Belle suggested it could be a ruse but Paul dismissed her. Belle told Paul he should see Amy’s doctor to be sure.

Jill called Laurie and invited her to dinner with Valerie, Judge Stevens and Ken. Laurie agreed and told Nola that her father would not be as suspicious if Jill could become her friend too. Wilfred arrived and Laurie told him about the dinner invitation. Wilfred said he disapproved his old friend’s attitude. He couldn’t understand he allowed Sam to work as a bartender. Wilfred would never be at his daughter’s mercy like Sam was with Ken.

    #3913 – Wednesday, February 12th 1969

Amy phoned Grace and told her Susan would bring her at Amy’s to have some news. Jill arrived and Amy told her Paul learned she was pregnant. Amy had invited her grandmother to tell her the truth. She had invited Valerie but Valerie was not in Woodbridge for the day. Jill was surprised as Ken and Laurie had planned to work at Valerie’s for the day. After Jill left, Susan entered with Grace. Grace found out quite quickly that Amy was pregnant. Amy admitted she knew before Paul left her. After Grace excused herself, Susan asked Amy how she flet. Amy assured she still didn’t want an husband who didn’t want her.

Val had left the key under the doormat for Ken and they could begin working on music. Laurie felt good enough with Ken to tell him about an incident in her past. She only had one friend in her life, Nancy, but Wilfred said she was a liar and he drove her away from Laurie.

Paul called Dr. Hadley and asked for an appointment. Dr. Hadley was surprised to realize Paul wanted to confirm Amy’s pregnancy. Paul explained the situation. Dr. Hadley didn’t know what ethics could say as he never faced this situation before but he confirmed that Amy was indeed expecting a child.

    #3914 – Thursday, February 13th 1969

Sam was in an hurry to have dinner with Ken, Jill, Valerie and Laurie he would meet for the first time. When Eleanor learned Ken and Laurie worked at Val’s during the day and Val was absent, she wondered if Ken could be trusted with Laurie. Sam was offended and Eleanor left to go back home. Her new neighbour was supposed to move in today. Meanwhille, Joan entered her new flat, ready for her new life.

Jill, Val, Laurie and Ken were at the Stevens’. They had a nice talk and Laurie and Ken excused themselves to find a book in Sam’s study they could have the use to write lyrics. Valerie tried to ease Jill’s increasing jealousy.

Eleanor brought a cake to her new neighbour and was shocked to realize she was Mrs. Kane. Joan corrected her – she was Mrs. Borman. Joan didn’t recognize Eleanor who said she was Judge Stevens’ secretary. Joan realized Eleanor must know about the trial and every naughty lie she made about Valerie. Joan tried to say she was having a new life and Eleanor agreed to share cake with her.

Sam arrived and Laurie made a good impression on him. Val suggested that Sam try to have Laurie and Ken perform one night at the club. After Laurie and Valerie left and Sam retired, Ken asked Jill about her opinion on the evening. She probably had seen there was no reason for her to be jealous of Laurie. Jill said it was complicated to see someone share something so close with her husband while she didn’t.

    #3915 – Friday, February 14th 1969

Amy visited Nick at the Hearld. He was curious to learn what happened with Paul. Amy said that since Paul assured he would come back to her as she was pregnant, she hadn’t heard from him. Maybe Belle made him change his mind. Nick asked Amy what she would do if Paul wanted to come back. She said that she might accept it to avoid scandal and for Lisa’s sake. She hoped that Nick would remain her friend no matter the outcome.

At Belle’s, Paul told Belle that she was wrong : the pregnancy was real. Belle made it clear that she would leave Woodbridge if Paul came back to Amy. Paul assured he only wanted Belle but his sense of duty pushed him to go back to Amy. Belle and Paul shared tearful goodbyes.

Dr. Spencer Hadley visited Amy. He said he was very uncomfortable when Paul came to his office to have Amy’s pregnancy confirmed. Amy was furious – Paul didn’t trust her. He thought she was trying to trap him with her pregnancy.  Paul arrived after Dr. Hadley left. He was ready to come back for Amy and her unborn baby. Amy lied to Paul : if she didn’t tell him she was pregnant it was because she was unsure he was the father !

    #3916 – Monday, February 17th 1969

Paul couldn’t believe Amy’s revelation. He told her she should name the name who supposedly made her pregnant. Valerie called and Amy told her she couldn’t talk at the moment but Val noticed the great agitation Amy was in. Amy refused to name the man. Unlike Paul, she didn’t make her private life public. She added her lover’s kindness made her go through Paul and Belle’s affair. Paul skeptical but Amy threw him out and told him to sign the divorce papers.

Karen was surprised to find her sister Belle at her door. Belle told her that Paul had gone back to his wife. Even if Karen thought Paul did the right thing, she didn’t want to see her sister sad. Belle asked to remain for the night and Karen agreed. Meanwhile, Paul tried to reach Belle at her apartment but nobody answered.

Val arrived at Amy’s. She had learned from Dr. Hadley that Paul had the pregnancy confirmed. Val agreed that Paul shouldn’t have distrusted Amy but Amy shouldn’t overreact. Amy said it didn’t matter, she led Paul to believe he was not the father of her baby. Valerie was shocked but Amy admitted it was good riddance.

    #3917 – Tuesday, February 18th 1969

On the morning, Jill told Ken that Amy was pregnant. She couldn’t tell him before as she was sworn to secrecy. Paul thought it was nice that Amy didn’t want to depend on Paul like too many women do, for instance Nola Hollister.

Laurie told Nola she told nearly everything about the « Incident » to Ken. She didn’t repeat the charge Nancy made about Wilfred but she would tell Ken about the outcome soon. He was a good friend to her. Ken arrived. He thought Wilfred should be told about Laurie and Ken’s plans to perform at the Country Club as Val suggested. Nola said Wilfred once had a heart attack and they should be careful.

In his office, Paul dialed Information and tried in vain to find Karen’s phone number. Jill arrived and told Paul she appreciated his decision to come back to Amy. Paul asked Jill if Amy told her everything : has Amy been unfaithful to him ? Jill was shocked but Paul said that Amy said it herself. Paul tried to reach Belle again. He admitted to Jill he was worried about her as he left her in a state of despair.

Wilfred appeared and Ken told him of the idea of a performance at the Club. Wilfred reacted coolly but he agreed not to oppose the idea. After Wilfried and Nola left, Laurie was impressed at Ken’s ease to handle her father. Laurie wished she was able to handle her father. She admitted that because of the Nancy Crawford incident, she tried to kill her father and was sent to a mental institution.

    #3918 – Wednesday, February 19th 1969

Nick was in Tom Austin’s office and asked him if the divorce between Paul and Amy had been cancelled. Austin assured it was not and Paul had to sign some papers before Amy went to Mexico. Nick hoped the divorce could be as smooth as his with Joan. He knew she was back in Woodbridge. Tom Austin had realized the day Nick brought Amy in his office that his interest in Amy was not only friendly. Nick didn’t answer. Amy called and was glad when Austin told her the papers would be ready in a few days. He lent the phone to Nick who seemed happy to learn reconciliation was not on the way for the Brittons.

Eleanor brought Joan some bill that was in her mailbox by mistake. Joan needed to find a job and was interested in a job offer at the Country club as an accountant assistant. Eleanor told Joan that Valerie and Sam were often at the Country club and could block her. Eleanor mentioned Alex Lockwood, the handsome owner of the club and aroused Joan’s curiosity.

Jill stopped at Amy’s and asked her what was this unfaithfulness lie she made up. Amy said it was the only way to get rid of Paul who did not trust her. She was sure Belle would convince Paul this was not a lie.

After Eleanor left, Joan called the Country club and asked to call to Alex. He was cool at first because he told Joan that the ad in the Herald explained it all but after Joan talked about her recent Mexican divorce, Alex agreed to have an appointment with her.

    #3919 – Thursday, February 20th 1969

Sam stopped by Val’s on the evening. She was very upset with Amy’s situation but didn’t want to talk about it. Sam then talked about Ken and Laurie’s plan and told Val that Ken convinced Wilfried Hollister not to oppose. Valerie finally told Sam about Amy’s situation – that Amy was pregnant with Paul’s and when Paul learned, he was ready to get rid of Belle but Amy lied he was not the father.

At the club, Ken and Wally waited for clients. Ken told Alex about his plan for him and Laurie to perform. Alex was not sure Wilfred Hollister and Sam Stevens would like that but once Ken assured they okayed the idea, Alex relented. Ken called Laurie to tell her the good news. Nola arrived at the bar. She told Ken she learned from Laurie she told him what happened three years before and she hoped she could trust Ken. Ken assured he would never do anything to hurt Laurie. After Nola left, Wally teased Ken about how close he was to the Hollister ladies. Did he know what Laurie was sent to a mental institution ? Did he have feelings for her ? Ken told Wally he shouldn’t start spreading false rumors like he did with Alex and Nola.

Nola had rushed to Alex’s cottage. She knew they had to be discreet but she missed him very much.

Sam was shocked that Amy would pretend the baby was not Paul’s. He told Val she had to convince Amy to tell the truth. Even if she wanted Paul out of her life, Amy had to be honest.

    #3920 – Friday, February 21st 1969

Paul called Belle’s apartement but couldn’t reach her. Karen and Belle arrived at the apartment just after he hung up. Belle assured Karen she didn’t need to say with her. Belle was assured Paul would never be back and she could deal with it. Karen reluctantly left. Paul went to Belle’s building and tried to get information on Belle from the superintendent who only agreed to help Paul once he was given $10.

Nick arrived at Amy’s. He apologized for getting to her lawyer because he was worried about the situation. Amy explained she drove Paul away and was happy about it. She wanted to have her divorce as soon as possible.

The superintendent opened Belle’s door and Belle fell into Paul’s arms. Paul told her he was frantic because he couldn’t find her. He explained Amy gave him some news he couldn’t believe. After Paul told Belle that Amy pretended to have a lover, Belle was sure it could be true and she even suggested who the lover was : Nick Kane.

    #3921 – Monday, February 24th 1969

On the morning, Jill was uneasy with Amy’s lie. She told Ken she didn’t know how she could lie to Paul when he asked about Amy’s supposed affair. Ken assured Jill she needed to respect her friend’s choice and Jill agreed. Sam came down for breakfast and Ken told him how happy he was to perform with Laurie at the club. He was to meet her at Val’s.

Paul had spent the night at Belle’s. He still couldn’t accept the fact that Amy had a lover and even worse, Belle’s suggestion that Nick Kane was the man in Amy’s life. Belle reminded Paul of the time Amy recuperated in Nick’s motel room. She said Paul was too proud to accept his wife betrayed him. After Paul left, Karen came to check on her sister. She found an overjoyed Belle. Karen didn’t understand – what about Amy and Paul’s baby. Amy and Nick Kane’s baby, Belle answered. Karen couldn’t believe it. After Belle explained the situation to Karen, Karen pointed out that Belle didn’t believe Amy and Nick were lovers. Belle said it didn’t matter as long as Paul believed it.

In Paul’s office, Paul questioned Jill about Amy. Did Jill know if Amy really had a lover ? Jill said she couldn’t be caught in between her friend and her boss anymore and as Ken suggested, she said she would no longer talk about Amy’s private life.

    #3922 – Tuesday, February 25th 1969

In the judge’s chamber, Valerie and Sam talked with Eleanor about her new neighbour. Eleanor said Mrs. Borman didn’t make her too bad an impression. She added that Joan was to apply for an accountant job at the Country club and Joan hoped neither Sam nor Valerie would try to oppose it.

Alex admitted Joan in his office. She succeeded in talking Alex into hiring her after she talked about her divorce and how difficult that was for her. Nola arrived in Alex’s office and was intrigued by Joan.

Ken and Laurie were working at Valerie’s. Ken questioned Laurie about the Nancy Crawford incident. Why didn’t Nola leave Wilfred when Nancy made accusations towards him ? Laurie assured her mother was soft-hearted. When Valerie came back at her place, she talked with Laurie who said Ken was absolutely charming with her. Valerie remembered some of Sam’s words and wondered if Sam’s doubts about Ken and Laurie’s relationship might be founded.

    #3923 – Wednesday, February 26th 1969

At her apartment, Joan received a phone call from Paul. He found her phone number through her mother. He asked to meet her. She was surprised. Then, Eleanor arrived. Joan told her she got the job at the Country club. Joan hoped she could meet some eligible bachelors at the Country club. Eleanor admitted she hadn’t thought about marriage since forever.

Nick visited Amy. She hoped he didn’t come to lecture her as Val or Jill did before. He assured not. Jill arrived and met Nick for the first time. They all had a friendly chat but Jill realized the way Nick looked at Amy. Jill told Amy that thanks to Ken’s advice, she didn’t tell Paul she was lying about her affair. Amy thanked her. When she left, Jill was sure Nick was in love with Amy but Amy was unaware of it.

Paul arrived at Joan’s. He wanted to prove Belle’s theory and he asked her if Nick had an affair with Amy. Joan remembered she once called his motel room and it was clear a woman was there but that’s all she knew.

Back at the Stevens’, Jill discussed Amy’s situation with Sam. Sam was sure Amy’s attitude would be very destructive – her child would be illegitimate, she couldn’t find a man to remarry her… Jill disagreed on the last point : she was sure a man was interested in Amy despite the situation.

    #3924 – Thursday, February 27th 1969

Sam visited Valerie and invited her to dinner. He told her of Jill’s theory that Nick Kane was in love with Amy and would be very willing to marry Amy if she and Paul divorced. Val admitted she thought of it too and she hoped it wasn’t true for Nick’s sake.

At the Country club, Joan introduced herself to Ken and Wally as a new employee. As she had finished her day, she asked for a drink but Alex approached and said it was inappropriate. He would offer Joan a drink in his office instead. Nola and Laurie arrived as Ken and Laurie were supposed to talk with Alex about how they would perform. Nola tried to hid her jealousy when Ken told her that Joan Borman was in Alex’s office. In Alex’s office, Alex offered Joan to go out one night he would have less work. She gladly agreed. He insisted they should keep it secret.

Sam and Val arrived at the Country club and talked with Nola while Ken and Laurie were summoned to Alex’s office. Val said that maybe even Wilfred would enjoy the performance of Ken and Laurie. Ken and Laurie came back from Alex’s office and confirmed the performance would take place. Laurie was frightened but excited. Nola went to see Alex and asked her if he tried to make her jealous with Joan.

Sam brought Val home. He asked her why she meant when she said she hoped for Nick’s sake that he was not in love with Amy. She said she was convinced Amy was still in love with Paul and it would break Nick’s heart.

    #3925 – Friday, February 28th 1969

At Belle’s, Paul told her he had no reason to believe Amy’s lie – neither Joan Borman not Jill Stevens corroborated her supposed affair with Nick Kane. Paul told Belle that his application for research in Europe had been accepted. Belle was happy. If Paul divorced soon, they could leave for Europe. Paul wanted to find out the truth about Amy’s pregnancy first.

Amy went to Valerie to apologize as she was rude to her the last time they talked. Apologies were accepted. Nick arrived and was surprised to find Amy. Amy asked Nick to go dinner together and he thought it was a lovely idea. After Amy excused herself, Valerie dared asking Nick if he was in love with Amy. He admitted he was but didn’t want Amy to know. Valerie agreed she wouldn’t say anything.

When Val was alone, she received a phone call from Paul who tried to reach Amy. It was an emergency. Then, Val told him she had went to dinner with Nick Kane. Belle asked Paul when he would be back but Paul assured he had to see amy.

At the Cellar club, Amy told Nick that whatever Paul decided – he believed her or not – their marriage was over and she would have a divorce even if it could take time. Amy stopped talking when she noticed Paul entering the restaurant. Paul came to their table and adressed to Nick : was he the father of Amy’s unborn baby ? There was a long silence. Nick looked at Amy and finally told that he could be.

    #3926 – Monday, March 3rd 1969

Sam arrived at Val. She told him she wondered if she did right when she told Paul where Amy was. Sam thought she did right – Paul was still Amy’s husband. As a confidence, Val told Sam that Nick admitted to her he had fallen in love with Nick. Sam and Val then talked Laurie and Ken. Val had finally understood why Sam was uneasy with Ken and Laurie’s association. Laurie totally hero-worshipped Ken.

After Paul left the Cellar club, a shocked Amy asked Nick why he lied to Paul this way. Nick thought that what Amy wanted : an easy way to convince Paul to get a divorce. Amy said Nick didn’t realize the troubles ahead for him for a child who was not his. Nick was sure Paul would only sign the divorce papers. Amy was worried about the consequence of the lie and she said she would need Val’s advice. Nick agreed.

Paul arrived back at Belle’s and told her Nick admitted he was the father of Amy’s child. Belle didn’t see what was so surprising. At least, nothing should stop the divorce then.

    #3927 – Tuesday, March 4th 1969

Nola called Alex. She would be alone for the day and he said he would come to see her. Laurie arrived and said Nola she was impressed Wilfred didn’t do anything to stop her performing with Ken at the Country club. Wilfred arrived and said he felt dizzy, like when he had his heart attack so would stay at home.

Ken and Laurie visited Alex in his cottage. They wanted the key of the ballroom to practise. After they left, Joan stopped by. It was clear her business questions were only a pretext to her to see Alex’s cottage. He said he would love to have lunch with her but he had plans. Nola called and told Alex she had to cancel because Wilfred was not leaving after all. Then Alex offered Joan to join him for lunch.

At the Hollisters’, Wilfred poured himself a drink to relax. Nola said that if he hadn’t drunk so much, the incident with Nancy wouldn’t have occured. Wilfred asked Nola if she still believed he went to the girl’s room with questionable purpose. Nola dismissed the discussion.

After working at the Club, Laurie asked Ken if he noticed she didn’t stammer when Ken was there. Thanks to Ken, she was feeling safe, a thing she never did she would feel again once she had been committed. Ken went to the cottage to give the key back to Alex. He came upon Alex making a clear pass on Joan. Alex was upset but Joan was sure Ken wouldn’t say anything.

    #3928 – Wednesday, March 5th 1969

From his office, Paul called Amy. He said that he asked his lawyer to meet hers and draw the papers. He added that he wouldn’t tell anybody – except Belle – about Nick’s revelation. Amy coolly thanked him. Jill only heard the end of the conversation. She was disappointed Paul was giving up on a pregnant woman and she quit her job.

Nick was with Tom Austin when his secretary told him Paul Britton didn’t contest the divorce. Tom told Nick that Amy could leave for Mexico in a few days to get her divorce. Tom told Nick he shouldn’t hide the fact he was happy.

Jill went to Amy’s and told her she had quit. She asked Amy what convinced Paul to finally agree to the divorce. Amy answered Paul was sure he was not the baby’s father but she didn’t give more details. Nick arrived after Jill had left. Amy told him that Paul promised secrecy so Amy should get her divorce and after that she would tell Paul the truth.

In Paul’s office, Paul was talking with his immediate superior, Dean Martin Conroy. Paul asked for a few days to go to Washington for his project. Dean Conroy agreed but was not happy when he realized that if Paul got the green light in his project, he would be gone for a year in Europe. Belle arrived in Paul’s office. She realized Paul was still shaken by the whole situation but she had promised him she wouldn’t tell anybody Nick was Amy’s child’s father. She kind of resented Paul’s concern for Amy and Lisa.

    #3929 – Thursday, March 6th 1969

Val had invited Susan and Grace for dinner. She thought it would be great they all attended Ken and Laurie’s performance at the Country club. Amy phoned and asked to come to talk later. Val tried to elude Susan and Grace’s questions. After Grace went for a nap, Susan asked Val why Paul would divorce if he finally knew Amy was pregnant. Val admitted Paul didn’t think the baby was his.

Nola had brought Laurie at the Country club because Wilfred was drunk at home and Laurie was afraid of Wilfrend when he was drunk. Wally told Laurie that Ken had been summoned at Alex’s cottage. In the cottage, Alex asked Ken if he would not mention Joan’s presence in his cottage to anyone. It was an innoncent luncheon but Ken admitted he already told Laurie. When he came back to the Country club, Ken told Nola and Laurie what happened with Alex. He wanted him to keep mum that he saw Alex and Joan Borman, the new accountant having lunch at his cottage. Nola tried to conceal her anger.

Amy arrived at Val after her sister and grandmother left. She explained Val that Nick lied to Paul he was the father of her baby. Val tried to make Amy realize that Nick was in love with her but she couldn’t. Amy might have understood though.

Nola let herself in Alex’s cottage. She made it clear she wouldn’t compete with Joan Borman for his affection. She realized he was more interested in the Hollister money than in her so it was clear she didn’t want to see Joan around him.

    #3930 – Friday, March 7th 1969

After dropping Amy at her obsterician’s, Valerie visited Nick’s new apartment. She liked how it was styled and Nick said it was all Amy’s. Val told Nick he had to admit to himself his feelings for Amy pushed her to lie to Paul he was the father of the baby. Nick asked Val if she told Amy. She said she didn’t but Amy must have understood somehow.

Amy told Dr. Jerome she felt kind of punk. She hoped he would tell her she was okay because she had to go to Mexico for a few days. After he checked her up, Dr. Jerome told her she needed rest, at least until the end of her 3rd month so her trip to Mexico had to be delayed for the moment at least.

Belle noticed Paul was still upset at the idea that Amy could have been unfaithful. It was absurd as he did the same but his pride was hurt. After lunch, Paul drove Belle back to her office. She was worried about his state of mind and she asked him if he only felt betrayal and not love anymore for Amy. Paul assured Belle he would never leave her.

Amy came to Nick’s after her appointment. She told him she had to delay her trip to Mexico. She said she had the impression at Valerie’s that she suggested Nick had feelings for her. Nick assured he would have lied to Paul no matter what but he was forced to admit he had fallen for her. Amy answered she liked Nick but she was not in love with her. They could keep on seeing each other only if he could accept that.

  7. #3184 – Monday, July 8th 1968

Bob and Pa Hughes were in Bob’s office, waiting for David to return. Pa would like Bob to tell him what Dr. Davis said in his office but Bob insisted he had to question David first. When David arrived, Pa excused himself. Bob said the infection in his eyes was cleared but to gain his eyesight again, he would need a cornea transplant. David said this was a very successful transplant and Bob shouldn’t hesitate.

In the waiting area, Pa had a talk with Mrs. Brando, whose husband was hospitalized under Bob’s care. David and Bob had just gone to visit Mr. Brando. Mrs. Brando complimented Bob to Pa Hughes and that his lack of eyesight didn’t change a thing for patients. Bob and David arrived. Bob told Mrs. Brando that he thought her husband might develop a mild condition. He convinced Mrs. Brando she had to remain confident and be reassuring for her husband.

Chris arrived in David’s office and found his father with David, waiting for Bob. David admitted to them that Bob would need a cornea transplant. David explained Bob was having doubts because it was not always successful on the first time. David, though, was very optimistic.

At the Hughes’, Nancy complained to Lisa she called David a few times and he didn’t answer. Lisa said that maybe David would prefer Bob tell Nancy himself what Dr. Davis said. Lisa showed much concern for Bob and since Sandy was nowhere to be found, Lisa hoped that maybe she and Bob would come closer in the future. Nancy was horrified.

    #3185 – Tuesday, July 9th 1968

At the nurses’ area, Dan told Karen that Michael Shea was about to petition to get his licence back. Bob arrived and said he wanted to keep Mrs. Brando away from her husband because of the stress she could transfer to him. He was confident Mr. Brando would recover. David arrived and left with Bob. Karen thanked Dan because he stopped her from asking Bob about his appointment with Dr. Davis. It would have intruded Bob’s privacy. After Dan left, Karen admitted she liked him.

Ellen and Christine were in David’s study at the Stewart’s. Ellen asked Christine if she was willing to remain. She admitted she missed her work in the orphanage but she wondered if Ellen asked because she didn’t want a nurse for the kids at first. They talked about David’s first wife and how it was difficult for Dan after Betty’s death. Ellen assured Christine that if at some point she was unhappy at the Stewarts’, she would need to tell her. Happiness was the most important thing.

David arrived home. Ellen told him she was getting used to Christine’s presence and Christine was nice enough to let her take care of the girls with her. David was glad and added he dropped Bob and his grandfather in town as Bob wanted to walk home. David preffered not giving too many details to Ellen as long as Bob hadn’t talked to his family.

Chris had been back home and told Nancy and Lisa about Bob needing a cornea transplant. Lisa offered to stay for dinner as it could be some support for Bob. Bob and Pa arrived in time for dinner.

After dinner, in Tom’s room. Tom explained to Lisa he didn’t want to be home when Bob came back. Lisa understood that Tom couldn’t face the situation of Bob’s blindness but she was ashamed of her son because the whole family was there. She wanted him to be more a support to Bob and less a rebel even she was sure Bob would see again soon. Tom agreed to talk with his father.

    #3186 – Wednesday, July 10th 1968

The same evening, Pa was in his workshop painting a wooden dog he promised Jimmy. Chris arrived. They talked about Tom’s rebellious attitude. Pa thought they should let Penny know Bob’s situation but Chris didn’t think it would be good that Penny knew about Sandy being gone and Jimmy living with the Wilsons even if everything was over between Penny and Roy. Pa also told Chris that Don planned to visit a weekend. Chris was surprised to learn from his father that Don was seeing Amanda again.

Lisa was with Nancy and they talked about Bob’s possible cornea transplant. Lisa tried to comfort a worried Nancy. They also talked about Lisa’s son. Nancy questioned Lisa about Chuckie’s dad and wondered if he ever left his wife. Lisa said she didn’t care about him anymore. Love was long gone. Lisa added she went to Tom’s room and let him know that being late for the dinner was not acceptable.

Tom went to his father’s room. He apologized to Bob if his behaviour disappointed him. They talked about the cornea transplant before Lisa arrived to say she was about to leave. Tom went to call a cab for his mother. Bob told Lisa he realized it was Lisa who asked Tom to visit Bob and talk about cornea transplant. Bob thought Tom was old enough – 17 yo – to make his own decision. Lisa thought the Hughes family was putting too much pressure on Tom.

Back at her place, Lisa told Alma she was sure her talk with Tom would be a good thing. She asked Alma if Nancy questioned her about Chuckie’s father but Alma denied. She wondered if Lisa was interested in another man. Lisa answered she was interested in a man she had always been interested in.

    #3187 – Thursday, July 11th 1968

In the morning, Bob and Nancy had a talk about Lisa and Tom. Nancy hoped Lisa would do right for Tom. Bob also said he took time to think last night. There was no reason he shouldn’t get the cornea transplant. His doctor side talked to his patient side in his mind. He decided to go to the city with a cab and not with his grandpa, to get more independence.

Alma received a phone call – a $40.000 offer had been made on her house in Rockford. Alma told Lisa she didn’t know about that because she might like going back to Rockford once Lisa remarries someday. Lisa assured her mother that even if she married someday, Alma could always find a place near Oakdale near her grandsons. Alma would go to Rockford for the evening and as Lisa had already plans, she would ask Tom and his girlfriend Sally to babysit.

At the Cassen house, Claire was all dressed up to have dinner with Michael, much to the Judge Lowell’s disapprovement. Claire tried to explain her position but Judge Lowell said he didn’t trust her judgment when it came to Michael.

Claire and Michael were at the restaurant. Michael told Claire he intended to come before the Board to get reinstated before the six months he was supposed to wait. He added he didn’t intend to do more with Lisa than support for Chuckie. After all, Lisa didn’t want anyone to know he was Chuckie’s father. Claire didn’t think she would be able to forget about Lisa and Chuckie.

Tom and Sally babysat at Lisa’s. Sally found Chuckie to be hot. She was sure he had fever. Tom decided to call his dad. Bob said he would manage to help.

    #3188 – Friday, July 12th 1968

In the study, Ellen was writing a letter for Paul in Vietnam. Christine interrupted and said the girls were asleep. Christine went out when Judge Lowell arrived. He was very worried about Claire who went to dinner with Michael and said she didn’t want to conceal her meetings with Michael anymore.

Michael drove Claire home and she was worried Judge Lowell was out. Michael dismissed her fears and tried to recreate the time he proposed to her. Michael told Claire he would be in Indianapolis for some time but he would be back for his review by the Medical Board. He asked Claire if there was a future possible between us. She admitted it might be.

David came home and Ellen expressed Judge Lowell’s fears about Claire. David thought that Ellen and the Judge should accept that Claire would do what she wanted. David had come back from a housecall at Mrs. Brando’s but he admitted he was not as good as Bob to reassure the patient’s wife so he advised her to call Bob. Then, Bob called and asked David to come with him at Lisa’s to check on Chuckie who had fever. David said he would come if it was serious but Bob could deal with it. Nancy convinced Bob to let her come with him.

Tom and Sally had Dr. Thompson, Lisa’s pediatrician, come over. He said it was probably nothing serious but would wait for Bob’s opinion. Bob arrived and went to see Chuckie with Dr. Thompson. Nancy insisted Tom accompany Sally back at her place. Dr. Thompson and Bob were worried. There seemed to be an obstruction in Chuckie’s abdomen. They had to take the child to the hospital.

  8. 7 hours ago, Paul Raven said:

Don't know what happened to Roy.

In one script, Roy is mentionned as living away but calling Mr. and Mrs. Wilson to get news about Jimmy.

Martha Wilson: Even his father's gone. I never thought I'd live to say this but - I'm sorry Roy McGuire had to go away.

Carl Wilson: He had no choice, Martha. A man has to follow the jobs and he got a good one. But he'll be back to see Jimmy.

  9. If you are interested, I've received a few months of scripts (summer 1968). I will try to recap and share with you.

    #3179 – Monday, July 1st 1968

Ellen read a letter Paul sent from Vietnam. He hoped he could phone the family on July 4th. Ellen asked David if that meant she should invite Dan if Paul called them. David thought it could be a first step in a truce process. They also talked about Claire. Ellen was worried about her mother since Dick Martin told her what a despicable man Michael Shea was. Ellen also noticed that David was glad to practise medicine again instead of research but he would have wanted to do it under better circomstances. The infection in Bob’s eyes was clearing up and they should know quite soon how it would evolve. They finally talked about Christine Regan, the baby nurse David insisted Ellen hired.

While Christine was feeding baby Dawn with Carol Ann’s help, Dan arrived and introduced himself to Christine. He came to fetch a document David forgot. Dan and Christine talked about her past work in an orphanage. She wanted to return someday. Dan remembered he met Christine through his wife Susan as Christine wanted to be a nurse at a point.

Meanwhile, Ellen was visiting Susan at Dan and Susan’s. She thanked Susan for suggesting Christine as a baby nurse because she was great. Ellen invited Susan to come with Dan on the 4th of July and she talked about Paul’s possible phone call. Susan said she would try to convince Dan.

Ellen then visited her grandfather. Judge Lowell was worried that Claire had decided to see Michael again. She added she invited Dan for the 4th of July but wasn’t sure he would come.

Dan arrived home. Susan told him about Ellen’s invitation but she had to mention Paul’s possible phone call to light an interest in Dan. Dan also talked about Bob’s eyesight. He had noticed Karen seemed fond of Bob.

    #3180 – Tuesday, July 2nd 1968

At the Hughes’, Bob worked on some braille. He told Pa Hughes he had to meet Lisa. Lisa arrived and Pa went to his shop. Lisa told Bob she asked to see him to talk about Tom. She thought they should see each other more often to ease Tom’s rebellious side as Tom had always wanted for his parents to remarry. Bob was not sure as it could mislead Tom and after all, he didn’t like many things Lisa did.

In Dick’s office, Chris and Dick talked about Claire and the fact that despite her divorce she would probably see Michael again. Chris was shocked. He couldn’t understand Claire as she knew Michael was the father of Lisa’s baby. Chris hoped Claire would see Dick as someone good, other than a friend and Dick wished it was true. Dick even thought Claire could remarry Michael. After Chris left, Lisa arrived. She wanted to invite Dick for lunch but he was busy. She thanked him again for his work in pushing Michael to pay for Chuckie’s support. Lisa tried to question Dick about his relationship with Claire but he refused to talk about it. Lisa told Dick she met Claire at the hospital some time ago and she asked Claire to convince Michael to marry Lisa for Chuckie’s sake.

Claire came back home from the boutique. Judge Lowell wanted to bring Claire to dinner but she said she was expecting a phone call from Michael. Judge Lowell was offended when Michael called and Claire agreed to have dinner with him.

Michael and Claire met at a restaurant. Michael assured Claire of his love. Claire then asked Michael to do something to please her out of love – marry Lisa. Claire insisted Chuckie deserved legitimacy and assured Lisa promised she would grant Michael a divorce afterwards. Michael was sure Lisa would find a way to not divorce.

    #3181 – Wednesday, July 3rd 1968

Lisa and her mother were having breakfast. Lisa was outraged her mother was invited at the Hughes’ for the 4th and she was not. Alma said Nancy remembered too well what happened with Michael Shea. She tried to make Lisa realize it would take much time for people to accept her with her illegitimate child. Lisa assured Tom would expect her to be there.

At the Hughes’, Nancy and Bob talked about Tom’s behavior the previous week when he defied Bob and ran to Lisa’s at night. Nancy said she talked with Alma and admitted that maybe Bob and Lisa should dine together sometimes to bring closness around Tom. Bob joked Lisa visited with the same idea. Nancy was sure Tom had never accepted his parents’ divorce but Bob said it was ages ago and it was time for him to move on. Tom thought of his mother of a saint because he had no idea of the past. Nancy suggested Lisa and Chuckie be invited for the 4th and Bob finally agreed. Tom woke up. Lisa called and told Tom Nancy forgot to invite her for the picnic of the 4th. Before Nancy could react, Lisa told on the phone she understood Nancy was busy and forgot but that she would be there with Chuckie.

Later, Bob had joined David for work. They talked about their plans for 4th of July. Pa Hughes arrived to drive Bob home. Tom had plans to see Jimmy at Mrs. Wilson the afternoon. Bob admitted he wanted to spend time with Jimmy. He was sure it was what Roy wanted and what Sandy would want.

Tom and Jimmy played at the Hughes’. Bob felt useless as he couldn’t play with Jimmy because of his blindness. Once Bob and the kids were outside, Nancy told Pa she quite understood why Penny acted this way with Jimmy.

Tom brought Jimmy back to his grandparents, Carl and Martha Wilson. After Tom left, Carl worried Martha was exhausting herself taking care of Jimmy. She wished she knew where Sandy was. Martha felt a bit dizzy and Carl insisted she see a doctor.

    #3182 – Thursday, July 4th 1968

The Hughes commented on family issued ahead of July 4th celebration. Bob wondered if his sister Penny was over Jimmy but Nancy was not sure, she didn’t talk about it in her letters. Tom would go to fetch Jimmy as the Wilsons would only come later. Nancy told Chris that finally Lisa and Chuckie were coming too. Penny called. Nancy was happy. Penny asked to talk to Bob and they shared a few words about Jimmy.

Lisa arrived early to help Nancy, saying Alma would arrive later with Chuckie. She feigned apologizing for inviting herself but Nancy told her she was about to invite her. Nancy added they had to act good for Tom who thought Chuckie was his adopter little brother. Lisa brought lemonade to Bob and Tom who were in the garden. Tom left to fetch Jimmy as Lisa told Bob she was glad they were on friendly terms. Bob was cold.

In David’s study, Dan and David talked about the difference between medicine and research. David asked Dan if Susan was a bit more interested in babies as he saw her going to the nursery with Christine when she arrived. Dan didn’t think so. They joined Ellen, Judge Lowell and Claire in the living room. They were anxiously waiting for Paul’s phone call. Christine and Susan joined with Carol Ann and baby Dawn. As Judge Lowell and David were playing with the girls, the phone rang. The radio connection was bad but Paul could say a few words to David, Ellen, Dan. Paul assured he would write Ellen soon and everybody was moved.

    #3183 – Friday, July 5th 1968

At night, Chris noticed Nancy wasn’t sleeping. They talked about Bob going to Dr. Davis in the morning. Nancy was afraid there would be bad news and would like Chris to accompany Bob but Chris thought it was better to let Pa go with Bob as usuaL He tried to relax his wife.

In their bedroom, Ellen and David were still under shock after Paul’s long-distance call. David said there were so many things he would have wanted to tell his son. Ellen said Dan was polite to her but she was sure it would never be anything more than that. David insisted he would bring Dan and Ellen closer. Ellen also talked about Christine. She felt like Christine didn’t like her work here and would like to go back to her orphanage work. David was sure Ellen said that because she didn’t want a nurse and care for the kids herself at first but David insisted it was a good thing. They changed subject again and turned to Bob’s health issue. Ellen asked David if he made his own diagnosis but David assured it was not his field of competence.

Pa visited Bob’s room and they talked about the 4th of July. Bob said it was not a good thing to iie to Tom. He was afraid Tom was losing respect for things. Pa then asked Bob if he had an idea what Dr. David would tell him. Bob said he had but didn’t want to share. Pa asked if Bob would prefer David to go with him but Bob assured he enjoyed the closeness these last months brought between him and his grandfather so Pa would be glad to bring him to Dr. Davis’.

The following afternoon, Lisa was with Nancy who was anxiously waiting for news of Bob’s appointment with Dr. Davis. Meanwhile, Bob left Dr. Davis’ office. Pa asked him what he said but Bob said he had to consult David with medical questions first and asked Pa to drive him to his office with no more information.

Anabelle was frantic she couldn’t find Henri. He arrived and apologized for being late when he showed a cashier’s check. He was sure she world forget his morning walk with Ellie Harper. Anabelle was ready to start packing but Henri wanted to use this to bilk Andrea out of her fortune. By the time he would have Andrea’s money, he would have secured the reminder of Ellie’s investment and then they could disappear. He called Andrea for a lunch.

At Andrea’s place, Len stopped by to see his mother. He told her he was worried about Patti, very depressed since her miscarriage. He added that Patti saw this miscarriage as a punishment for the affair she had years ago and the first miscarriage she went through. Andrea assured she could build herself only with professional help and it could be the same for Patti. Meanwhile, Patti visited her gynecologist, Dr. Halley. He would like her to stop taking energizers pills he prescribed but Patti was afraid she couldn’t manage without the pills. Dr. Halley insisted she stop the pills. When Len arrived, Patti was sure he was talking to Dr. Halley behind her back and was upset.

Henri arrived at Andrea’s and offered her a piggy bank. She broke it and found an envelope with her loan repaired inside. Andrea said she would tell Doug Martin she was right about Henri all the time and Doug should release the capital Sam left for her and with his capital she would be able to invest in Henri’s boutique. Andrea suggested they open the boutique in Henderson to stay close to Len. Henri assured he wouldn’t mind. Henri charmed Andrea to convince her to call Doug. He kissed her and Andrea agreed to call Doug.

At the Vincente home, Agnes told Tony of Marcy’s birthday coming soon and they should organize a little party. Agnes offered to organize it all. Tony minded her interference but he agreed to the party. He would buy Marcy’s birthday gift himself though.

Doug and Scott talked about Scott and Lauri having a child but Scott said Lauri didn’t want a child at the moment. Doug assured Scott he shouldn’t let the crime commission mess up with his married life. Scott talked about his work for the crime commission. Doug thought that if Scott spent enough time around people like Dick Hart, Scott would be trusted.

Doug then received Andrea and told her that Eunice was pregnant. Eunice felt guilty about being pregnant because of Patti’s recent miscarriage. Andrea then showed the money Henri returned to her and gave it to Doug. She made Doug notice that Andrea judged Henri well unlike Doug. Doug wondered if this was a lure to get him to release the capital Sam left her. He said she was too anxious to get the money, it was weird. Doug asked for a few days to think the matter over.

Paul Jaeckel visited the Vincentes’. Only Agnes was home and Paul remembered some old days when Marcy and his sister were having fun together. Agnes talked about the party she was planning and maybe they could organize it at Paul’s mother’s. Paul was happy to help Marcy. Agnes assured Tony was happy to have Paul as a psychologist at the Rec House. Paul told her the story of a young man who broke into a liquor store and shot the owner when he woke up. The young man called Rec House thinking he had killed the man but the owner was only slightly wounded and Paul had to appear at his hearing. He added that Mrs. Tate’s help at the Rec House was very useful.

At the Rec house, Al was giving an exercice class in which both Scott and Claire were participating. Jo brought Claire « Wurthering Heights » for her to read. Scott told Claire that her brother, Dick, made him think of Heathcliff, the protagonist of the book – dark, brooding and independent.

Len visited Andrea. He talked about Patti sounding better since she was at Silver Lake. Andrea was in a bad mood as she was nearly taken by Henri. She said the whole business was over and he was back in Paris. She was furious when Doug told her about Ellie giving Henri money to start a boutique with her. Andrea wondered if she would stay in Henderson and try to get closer to Patti.

Stu was surprised when Ellie told her she would have dinner with Andrea as they were both conned by the same man. Stu wished he could have helped Ellie. Ellie said she was foolish and the only one to blame. Ellie excused herself after Jo arrived. Stu briefed Jo about the Henri Cartier scam and how he had fled for Paris with Anabelle, his fellow con artist. Jo had come to ask Stu a favor. She would like him to donate some spare motor parts for the Rec House. Dick Hart was a bright young mechanic who taught young people about motors at the Rec House and he would need them. Stu said he would visit the Rec House and talk to Dick.

At Andrea’s, Andrea and Ellie were sipping champagne. Doug arrived. Andrea said she was angry at him at first for telling her about Henri but then she was only angry at herself. Ellie suggested Andrea they should open their boutique in Henderson without Henri. Andrea was intrigued and agreed to think about it as long as they didn’t talk about Henri anymore.

After lunch, Scott told Lauri he was upset that Dick could connect him with the raid on the coffee house. Scott said that Dick helped him get facts for the crime commission. If he soured on him, he could close a lot of doors. Scott asked Lauri out for a drink but wanted them to see Dick on the way which upset Lauri. She refused to go out and would wait him at home. When Scott left, Lauri wrote a letter to her mother. She wrote about Scott’s involvement with the crime commission. She phoned Murph – calling herself Sally – and offered him to have a drink at the London pub.

At college, Lauri asked fellow worker Maggie to cover for her as she had to leave early. Maggie asked Lauri why she asked her to set up a date between Lauri and Dr. Murphy if she wanted to give him the old razzle-dazzle and a big wash-out. Lauri said she was wrong to follow Murph to his apartment but she was naive and when he made his intentions cleared, she left and he called her every name under the sun. Lauri assured she would not try to spice up her evenings again. She would focus her efforts on making Scott the man she wanted him to be.

Eunice was on the phone with Jo. She said she wished she could help Patti but with her own pregnancy, she knew it was hard for Patti. After she hung up, she told Doug about the trouble Len and Patti were having.

At Scott and Lauri’s, Scott was worried they would be late for dinner at Doug and Eunice’s. She arranged for Eric to spend the night at Ida’s and hoped she and Scott made the best of the night once they were back from dinner.

Scott and Lauri arrived at Doug and Eunice’s and they toasted to Eunice’s future baby. Eunice said she nearly invited Patti and Len as she was sure they would get along with Scott and Lauri but it could have been tactless. She suggested Scott and Lauri get acquainted with the young doctor who helped Jo while convalescing, Murph. Lauri felt uncomfortable. Scott and Doug talked about the crime commission : they gave the politics the information they wanted on drugs in Henderson, it was up to the Governor to act. Scott was upset – he couldn’t wait for kids like Ernie Brady to die from overdoses. Meanwhile, Lauri questioned Eunice about her past. Eunice told her she was from Henderson but moved back after a first marriage and divorce in Puerto Rico. Lauri was surprised to learn Eunice’s background and kind of mirrored herself in her social ascension.

Back home, Lauri told Scott how much she enjoyed talking with Eunice. Scott was still upset there was no follow up on the crime commision but Lauri tried to change his mind by kissing and cuddling. She expected they would climb up the social ladder at some point.

Tony was ready to leave for the Rec House. Marcy told him she would like to see the place at some point. Tony was sure she would hate the place. Marcy admitted she wanted Tony to spend more time with her. She felt lonely and she couldn’t criticize Tony for his patience since she was in a wheel-chair but she couldn’t feel love anymore. Tony assured Marcy he would bring her to the Rec House some day and he left.

At the Rec House, Scott approached Claire who was alone and reading some Mark Twain. Scott looked for Dick but Claire said he was home with a chick. Claire asked Scott a lift to her apartment. Elswhere in the Rec House, Jo was working when Tony arrived. He told Jo about Marcy’s vow to visit and his disapproval. Jo thought Marcy could make her own decision. Tony answered Jo couldn’t understand.

At the Vincente’s, Marcy and Agnes were playing cards. Marcy complained about Tony’s absence. Agnes comforted Marcy’s fears and said Tony wouldn’t want to bring her to the Rec House to avoid her meeting Joanne Tate. Agnes viciously offered to bring Marcy at the Rec House and surprise Tony.

Scott and Claire arrived at Dick’s. Dick teased Claire about her reading. Scott told Dick that even if his job with the Crime commission was officially over, he felt there were big suppliers in Henderson and wondered if Dick could have some lead for Scott to investigate. Dick said that if Scott wanted to keep on living, he should keep his nose out of this business.

At the Rec House, Al welcomed Marcy who introduced herself as Tony’s wife. Privately, Al and John talked about Marcy and they were surprised Tony never talked about his wheel-chaired wife. In Tony’s office, Marcy complimented Tony and Jo on their work. As everybody was about to leave, Marcy insisted Jo come to the Vincente’s for coffee.

At night at the Rec House, Tony told Jo he had managed to find her some more place. Jo was ready to go home but Tony waited for Paul Jaeckel who was doing the night shift with John. Jo thought about stopping by at Len and Patti’s as things seemed very bad between both of them. She apologized to Tony about how she criticized him for the way he acted with Marcy and she left.

Patti realized Len took the pills and hid them. Len assured he wouldn’t give them back as these drugs were illegal and Patti was half-killing herself. Patti begged for one pill to sleep. Furious, Len left with the pills. Patti cried and moved to a closet and took out a suitcase.

Paul arrived at the Rec House and advised Tony to get home because Marcy would appreciate. Tony answered she was used to his absence. Tony asked Paul a favor since he knew Marcy for a long time – convince her he didn’t have a thing for Joanne Tate. He was sure Agnes kept on talking about this and drove Marcy jealous. Paul wondered if there was some truth in the idea as Tony spend way more time with Jo than with Marcy. Tony was furious. How could he imagine something like this. Was he suggesting he asked Jo not to come anymore at the Rec House. He dismissed Paul and said he was no better than Agnes or his wife.

After calling a cab, Patti started writing a letter to Len. She wrote that she had to go away because she realized she was not the Patti he loved. She could never give him children. She put the letter on the center of the table and left. Later, Len came back out of guilt and found the letter. He realized Patti had left. Overwhelmed, he called Jo who hadn’t seen Patti. While they talked, Patti arrived at her mother’s and asked if it was okay for her to stay for a while.
