  1. Nothing in any available data backs up a single thing you've said. All that has happened since the advent of Reaganomics is a consolidation of wealth, and the rich getting richer with a smaller and smaller percentage of the population hording a greater percentage of the wealth. There is no investment in the economy with the newfound tax-free dollars. And if you are like me, and see Reagan as the god of all things Republican, you would listen to David Stockman--the father of Reaganomics:
  2. You know, many economists said Obama didn't go far enough with pumping money into the economy. I do know he wants to let the temporary Bush tax cuts expire for everyone making 250,000 and above while continuing the break for the other 95% of the country, and republicans have taken the position that if the top tier do not get the breaks, no one will. This despite of record profits for the corporations and a greater amassing of wealth by the top percentile than at any time since the Depression. And we know how that worked out. His health care bill sucks, but he was not able to get what he wanted because republicans cried socialism and he caved. You do know that the Bill Clinton you speak fondly of is the same Bill Clinton you undoubtedly wanted impeached, right? People who miss Bush are idiots. They miss perpetual war and Dick Cheney allowing oil companies to dictate policy? They miss the Atty General using his office to indict democratic candidates who dared oppose republicans? They miss cynical and phony Orange Alerts? Well, no one ever went broke underestimating the American People. What do they miss exactly?
  3. Oh, so you admit to unfairly and wrongly bashing the Democratic president then? So then, you made a poor vote when you declined to vote for Al Gore and instead opted for some dunce who bankrupted the country with his wars of revenge and choice?
  4. But but...I thought not listening to the will of the American people was the sign one was a great Decider!
  5. Well, no one refudiates that. People refudiated the notion that this qualified as a foreign policy credential. Maybe I am wrong and we should ask our North Korean allies if they think she is to to snuff.
  6. Tom Delay was found guilty and faces potentially life in prison. I guess it was those renowned liberal Texas judges and juries that had it in for him. http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/11/24/us.delay.verdict/?hpt=T1 Maybe FOX can have him offer some fair and balanced political wisdom from behind bars.
  7. I don't see how the Union can succeed without a uniform monetary policy, and if a country gives up its right to decide its own monetary policy, is it even a country, or just now a vassal of some sort?
  8. I love 70s music. So much of it was upbeat and fun.
  9. I haven't heard this song in 20 years..excuse the title RIP Dean If this is deemed offensive, please delete.
  10. I used to be friendly with Paul. He is a very nice guy, saintly almost with the most even temperament you could find. It is impossible to make him angry and if you do he will seethe for a split second, focus, and then realize it is poor form to yell and return to being the always agreeable diplomat that he is and try to reach consensus. Last I heard he lives now somewhere south of NY (one of those states not sure which). He ran into a lot of bad choices in the mid 90s and his own personal demons stuck with him well into the 00s. Last I heard he is ok now, married and I believe has kids. He was never bitter about not being the soap star anymore and knew you had to be 25 or get lost for the most part. He stuck around NY into the 00s with a theater troupe doing workshops and plays and acting lessons.
  11. well for people who are really interested, Larkin Malloy teaches acting every Wed Night on west 43rd street just off 8th avenue.
  12. I have been in the Player's Club, and it is a great building. I loved Lois Kibbee. She was so perfect on this show and OLTL.
  13. I hope this is the right thread for this. I watched this live when it aired 15 years ago (a great show) and recently saw it again for the first time in years.
  14. I love the sequence when Blake got his memory back, it is a literal example of melodrama: drama set to music. Starting about 2:45 this clip just lets music do the narrating. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_nCs_VAzhw&feature=related
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luDHNHMchqQ Dr Nick might have missed the first episode of season two, but that's about it.
  16. The Flintstones turned 50, and here is one of their biggest hits http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhUCQCTZnkk
  17. that woman is such a nosey neighbor!

  19. Ricardo Montalban was a much bigger name than everyone on The Colbys save Stanwyck and Heston. I think by the time Rock Hudson joined the show was already a hit and Joan was now a star, but when she first arrived on Dynasty as a has been who still had a small level of fame she did not get the final credit. James Farentino I guess was deemed the bigger star at the time. No offense to Stephanie Beacham's career, but had anyone ever heard of her before Dynasty?
  20. all I remember was the son and the husband were the only two interesting characters, and they were the ones I looked forward to. The next year there was this story about a mother and son moving in, but I think I literally lasted two episodes before I decided without a murder mystery the show had almost no merit.
  21. I never thought DH was all that great. It's a silly comedy serial, and Dynasty for all its OTT ways at least the characters had no idea they were in something you might laugh at. Blake and company were deadly serious in every statement no matter how outlandish. DH was never really a true soap, with that sing songy woman narrating while comedy music played as Teri Hatcher had a klutzy moment in front of the neighbor. The first year of DH for all the touting of the women as being what made the show great, it was two men (the dead woman's husband and son) that carried the story. And did they ever have another story as good as that one? I gave up the second episode of season 2.
  22. I love both, but rewatching them, I have to say for the most part Dallas holds up better. The first handful of seasons of Dallas is solid drama, while with Dynasty only season 2 and perhaps 3 I think qualifies as great. But Dallas you have a well written TV show for quite a few years. By the 4th season of Dynasty they were already flailing about with Peter DeVilbis, while on Dallas's 4th season we were learning I think who shot JR.
  23. I have to go with "Mark Jennings...Krystle...and aaallll the Colby wealth and power. I finally got everything that I've wanted, everything I've been planning for...And it's all ours darling, the whole world is going to be ours!" First, it kicked off the greatest Dynasty scene ever. Next, she is talking about all the Colby wealth she planned for right in front of Colby himself, and finally, she sounds like a comic book supervillain. Greatest scene ever, it should be studied in universities.
  24. All My Shadows, your avatar is so great it led me to listen to this, her classic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByUOFV5TusE
  25. she was so interesting. I used to watch DS reruns on Ch 55 in NY (UHF) and then all of a sudden she was on OLTL too! Not pretty, but she had an interesting face. I had no idea until wikipedia that Grayson Hall was once nominated for an Oscar. Not too many soap stars can make that claim.
