  1. In the last primary they lamented the fact that many of them couldn't vote in the New York primary because it is closed and only Democrats can vote. Of course New York does have a very early close of registration to change your party, but a lot of these independents and others who support Sanders didn't even want to join the Democratic Party at all because they do not like it. They really have no good ideas or plans other than ranting about the establishment. After the 2016 election a lot of them took over the delegate spots for the state convention and seats for the boards that help decide strategy at local levels. All they did was create tension and after last years delegate elections most of them lost or didn't run because they were in over their heads. One of them ousted the head of a Democratic club that I used to belong to and she was quite difficult to work with and she is no longer leading the club as of last year. She actually was so horrible that the Sanders group had thrown her out. Lots of bad tempered and negative people support Sanders.
  2. They were going to come after Buttigieg anyway because he is going to win some of the softer, saner Sanders voters from 2016. This will be their excuse to go homophobic which I'm sure they were waiting to do. Plenty of them have racist tendencies so there really is no limit to how low they will stoop.
  3. If the report had recommended charges then Democrats would have had a better chance at filing impeachment. Instead it's basically a situation where there was clear wrongdoing but not enough hard evidence to bring charges. There is no legal precedent that lines up with much of what Trump and his campaign did, plus Trump Jr. avoided charges due to ignorance. With all that said there is plenty in the report to draft legislation that defines collusion and strengthens penalties for foreign money and assistance in elections, plus add tools to secure elections. If Republicans vote against that or Trump vetoes it, then Democrats can create a good narrative going into the election. "Keep other countries out of our elections" and "preserve our democracy" are exactly the sort of phrases that play on voters patriotism and in a diverse way.
  4. To a great extent the FBI is going to do it's job despite what Trump wants. Federal authorities tend to really dislike militia types and will arrest them whenever possible.
  5. The best way to hold Trump accountable is to vote him out and that has to be the top priority. He can be prosecuted after he leaves office and I think that is the best that can be hoped for.
  6. Looked into a few pages of the Mueller Report, particularly the details of interference. Much of the social media details of that we already knew, including the fact that they co-opted the Black Lives Matter banner. There is a portion that says that Russia got in contact with someone's family, but the name of the family is redacted. Russia clearly violated our campaign finance laws with thousands and thousands of dollars in expenditures in favor of Trump. They basically acted a dark money PAC, so they should be heavily sanctioned.
  7. Trump getting elected changed the career trajectory of a lot of people. Most of the candidates currently running had no intention of ever running or were looking forward to 2024.
  8. Not everyone evaluates all situations individually, though. You have a system of government, courts, etc. filled with people who are determined to use the actions and of one person as precedent to blame entire groups of people.
  9. It's a strong draw for the network so it's not surprising that they are pressing on with it. It is good that they because other people don't deserve to lose work just because of Loughlin.
  10. There was no way that Hallmark Channel was ever going to keep her on after this. It really would be unfortunate if the show got canceled because it's not fair for other people to lose their jobs for something they had nothing to do with.
  11. I doubt he has the sort of cash to pay to play, lol.
  12. You will definitely find those types. Sometimes when I hear some graduates of prestigious colleges speak I wonder how they got there because they don't speak that well and don't seem that smart. To an extent, education has become less about knowledge and more about social status and name dropping colleges.
  13. Charges might be based on who wrote the checks. If Huffman and Loughlin wrote checks off of an individual one as opposed to a joint one then it might be hard to charge their husbands even if they were on board. Looks as if Loughlin may have skipped town
  14. Agreed. It's fairly easy to cry and say that "I just wanted what is best for my kids" on Dr. Phil or perhaps on an Oprah special. Aside from casting some people who might have been on Cinemax late at night Hallmark casting is fairly squeaky clean.
  15. Living in a community with a sizeable wealthy population this doesn't much surprise me. My mom ran for school board and we met a lot of parents who are 24/7 invested in their kids education, especially the mothers. They bankroll whatever they can. The mothers who don't have much money are just as obssesive too and use organizing to gain power. So far no one around here has been caught bribing schools, but they have the same sort of ambition as Huffman and Loughlin probably have. I understand wanting to best for your kids but being dishonest really does nothing to help then in the long run and cheats honest families out of opportunities.
  16. https://amp.tmz.com/2019/03/12/felicity-huffman-lori-loughlin-arrested-college-admissions-bribery-scam/ They engaged in playoffs to get their kids into prestigious schools. There were donations made in exchange for fraudulent profiles that boosted admission chances. Huffman was actually arrested and is in custody pending signature bond.
  17. Joe Biden seems absent minded and even clueless at times.
  18. LOL, my mom was saying Brenda Jenkins won too. It was good to see her win, because she most certainly can deliver great performances.
  19. Elections have consequences and any Trump voter that gets their land seized gets exactly what they voted for. It's unlikely they would prevail in a court challenge because of a conservative majority on the court. If they actually get their land seized they are pretty much out of luck.
  20. This is probably somewhat anecdotal, but when I was at an immigration forum last year one of the panelist was discussing campaigning and said that younger Hispanic prefer communications in English while the older people are more partial to Spanish, so it's not like the younger people aren't learning English. With that said, the comment he made about people being worried about having brown grandchildren was even more terrible. People who worry about such a thing are truly racist.
  21. The prospect of air traffic being halted at LaGuardia was likely a factor in his decision to end the shutdown. Travel being disrupted was always going to be a breaking point.
  22. I thought that most here would appreciate this
  23. A lot of people do not realize that Speaker of the House is an actual job and not a spokesperson just to go on television, but fortunately most of the Democratic caucus in the House understands that and that is why Pelosi was voted into the position again. You have to know how to maneuver to be Speaker.
  24. That table looks like gas and heartburn waiting to happen. He paid for the food himself, but it's a cheap spread for someone who is supposed to have so much money. And it's seriously worth pondering if he bit off of any of those burgers and put them back in the container.
  25. Dynasty works
