  1. Most people don't know half of how the process in Congress works which is why much of the public expects instant results for everything. The people who care most about committees are farmers who want their representative on the Agriculture Committee.
  2. Cheney retained her leadership position through secret ballot. That probably would have turned out different under a vote on the record. Trump would be convicted if the Senate could vote on impeachment in secret. Losing committee assignments is very serious. As a member of Congress you are nothing without committees, because that is where most of the work occurs.
  3. Sounds like a spiritual. "Lord hear what I pray, send me down your precious way".
  4. The lack of realism is due to writers relying on gimmicks to grab attention and also lack of creativity. On DOOL, Stefano's personality being micro-chipped into Steve is an example of too far of a reach of reality (DOOL has many of these example). Soaps were developed as realistic stories in communities with regular people. Sure the characters problems weren't always everyday ones, but they were somewhat believable.
  5. At this point a sitcom wouldn't be a crazy idea. It's less insane than the past few years.
  6. Pence has never been that financially stable outside of politics. When he first ran for Congress he paid his mortgage with campaign funds. He could write a book telling what happened behind the scenes in Trump's presidency and generate some money. This might be wrong, but I am convinced that Pence was running the country for the final couple of weeks before the inauguration.
  7. Her last credit is the final episode of How To Get Away With Murder and in it there was a part of the ending montage where her character passed away. She never retired and gave good performances her entire life.
  8. Rest in peace, Cicely Tyson https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/cicely-tyson-dead-dies-1234895188/
  9. Some people down the street from me blacked out Pence's name on their Trump sign and flag. There is a lot of irrational anger towards Pence over him not trying to invalidate the election results even though he had not authority to.
  10. Who is that?
  11. Brenda Dickson would not have been able to pull off some of the material that Jess Walton has played. Can you imagine Dickson playing Jill going up against Mamie about John?
  12. Melania wouldn't even have sprung for a expired Chips Ahoy stolen from a food bank.
  13. That's a stretch to fact check Biden on. "You all said" is a fairly generic statement that really isn't meant to target specific reporters. Most people speak collectively when it comes to the media.
  14. I liked Lindsay too. The character was a unique villain and Hickland played her so well.
  15. I've said it before, but Biden is truly having a Susan Lucci Emmy moment. He was around for years and well respected, ran two times for President unsuccesfully in previous cycles and it looked like he'd never be President, but he finally got the prize.
  16. It won't be a surprise if expensive artwork and furniture turn up missing.
  17. Pence will attend the inauguration and skip Trump's farewell.
  18. Unfortunately, white supremacists will never go away. It seemed like the most virulent ones had been contained to the fringe, but Trump made them more comfortable than they have been in many decades and they have voices in Congress. It's not even an exaggeration to say that people of color need to be on high alert when out in public now.
  19. Assistance is going to be vital moving forward. The vaccine rollout is months away from the general public and even when the public can get the vaccine it will be more months until we reach strong vaccinated numbers. A lot of jobs aren't going to recover until next year.
  20. First losing the PGA and now this. Trump really is coming out of this presidency worse than he was going in. He was never likable, but now he's loathed and can't even attempt to revive the Apprentice or forge any business deals with major companies.
  21. The First Amendment would be a contradiction if it mandated what private companies could do. We have a free market and the companies who have taken action against violent speech and incitement are fully within their legal rights. Social media has banned people for far less anyway.
  22. Don't know if this was posted yet, but it's absolutely horrific. The next time anyone says a negative word about Black Lives Matter then this is what should be brought up. These are the real thugs.
  23. There was an incident years ago where a police officer found Cruz's wife sitting on the side of the road and put in his report he thought she was a danger to herself, so I'm not sure how good Cruz's marriage is. She moved to Texas for him, converted to Southern Baptist and is the breadwinner (she called herself that). I think he wanted children to bolster his future image and that he is less serious her than she is about him.
