  1. Funny, she was in a movie called Revenge too with Kevin Costner... But to be fair she hasn't been the name she was back in the 80s for a while now...
  2. Serious? He's "carrying" a bit more than he should for his age, but I wouldn't categorize him in the category of half of America--let alone ABC people like Brian Frons.... I just wish they wouldn't always try to hide it with suit jackets. Plus as Miss Austen said, those pics are all horribly unflattering. They aren't often mentioned anymore, but the romance of Jeff and Mary, and Mary's death seemed to be major moments in early AMC history. In some old interviews Agnes talks about being worried that she doesn't know where to go after losing both actors.
  3. Ha I had such a crush on Dylan... I'd almost forgotten. I wonder if that was the last time ABC would actually feature soap stars in a network promo.
  4. Ha, but I don't follow. You mean Julia look like Maya?
  5. The True Blood pilot leaked about 4-5 months before the premier (with the different Tara--the girl from Passions). Didn't cause any problems--there are other examples of pilots leaking early and they don't seem to cause any probs, in fact it might be good word of mouth.
  6. LOL I was thinking the same thing--they don't even start rolling the credits till quite a bit in...
  7. Aww I used to rush home everyday after school to watch Cyndi's 20 minutes of soap gossip and recaps on Komo
  8. ANd last we saw it was some random small thing in a mall...
  9. As always, Paul, thanks so much for your information! I know most of the minor supporting characters on AMC from the 80s on, but the ones from particularly the early 70s are largely a mystery, unless they appear in a random episode or a summary. Solomon seems quite appealing though (I wonder if that boutique later became Myrtle's?)
  10. That's what it sounds like to me too, which would mean a minor character I guess? I know even in the official books those first few years are never summarized with much detail, so it could have been a regular character who never had a storyline... I feel greedy but now a part of me can't help wishing that whole episode was available. (and LOVE Judith Barcroft and her characterization of Anne)
  11. HA Anton and that accent. Actually I do remember that story, though not super clearly (wow Kendall was living in a rundown place...)
  12. I remember him being pretty awful when he first came to AMC--my sister still watched with me back then and we mocked him mercilessly, although for whatever reason I did grow to like him. Does Ann mention her name at the start of the scene? There's a brief bit I can't quite understand. I don't know the actor who played Linc back then, or that he continued to do soap work so recently, but he seems alright. One of the episodes on Agnes' website has the first Linc with Amy and you can see why he was recast... I guess there was a brief third Linc after Pryor, before the character moved to Seattle for a few years? I know AMC had a number of growing pains when it came to recasting in its first two years, so I'd be interested to hear the story.
  13. I don't remember any suicide drama and I was a regular viewer around then... I know Julia came close to suicide after her attack--but that involved Noah I thought... Hrmm. (I always found it amusing that the actor who played Anton, later played Dracula on Buffy opposite SMG). OK back to that clip of the 1971 episode--anyone know who Ann is talking with in the shop?
  14. I really grew to love The City, but the first six months were really fairly rough, in hindsight. Lots of way too short stories done for controversy's sake (liek the transgender one) and then the Masquerader serial killer story which just felt WAY too soon after the Loving murders. As much as I loved Morgan Fairchild it only REALLY came into its own when Tracy came on instead--I still say the last six months were pretty great--and I eventually swear I'll upload the last three months I have on tape... Gotta disagree with Khan, I don't feel they dumped on Loving--as much as I loved the last two years of Loving, reallyI'm amazed ABC gave it as many chances as they did--and The City was a nice compromise. I do think its reportedly high cost and the fact ABC didn't own it led to ABC dropping it WAY too quickly after just 18 months. And have to agree re Roscoe Born as Nick--it really proves he can do more than just play scenery chewing baddies. Yes, this was a Nov 1991 episodes that WOST aired, I have it saved--it was when Jeremy and Ceara were in Corinth pacthing up their marriage, and Ceara became involved in Matt's story (I think his name was Matt?) the druggie runaway who was up on rape charges and it finally came out that his sbusive dad was the rapist, in these court scenes. It seemed like they were tieing him to Ally at the time, but I think he was just quickly written out instead.
  15. WOW I'm amazed to see it in colour too, and not just a random B&W kinescope. (It is true that I've heard fans proudly proclaim how they've watched since it was in B&W) The 1984 episode --was Brooke's rapist that friend of Tom? The AMC coffee table book leaves out the story completely in their 1984 synopsis.
  16. Yeah, many in the industry seemed pretty annoyed she got a nom...
  17. AH ok I do remember scenes with Sam and Opal flirting (I think in Myrtle's boarding house for some reason). Yeah, in the episode it's implied Sam came to Liza's rescue and she feels he's the only one she could trust.
  18. I was randomly watching some AMC episodes I hadn't seen in full yet, on youtube, and came across this one: Now I believe this was after Liza's rape--can someone tell me who raped her? I think she left soon after--or was she recast first? I had thought her dad had died by then, can someone remind me of when he died and how? And finally can someone tell me who exactly Sam was? (Yes I could probably find most of this out in the AMC coffee table book but I'm lazy--)
  19. Oh and random, in the gym scene in the second link they're playing Kylie Minogue--a song from an album that didn't get a US release! LOL
  20. Thanks for that! That Casey the Alien music is from some movie, isn't it? it sounds like Jerry Goldsmith--I know in the 80s the ABC soaps all used movie cues a lot of the time (AMC famously used the Halloween theme for the Erica breaks Jeremy out of prison scene). Did Casey ever get an exit?
  21. Wasn't Starman a good 5 years earlier? I wonder if any of Casey is online... It seemed McTavish was tempted to return to sci fi for a while with the defrosting of that character, etc, but...
  22. How long did Casey stay on canvas?
  23. Wasn't that when Casey the Alien showed up? In hindsight it seems smart for Monty to try to take the show more back to basics, even if she did it poorly (or so it sounds).
