  1. I didn't really know the main Skye (I guess technically she was the second?) when Carrie came on-- but I loved her too. I think she's moved back to Vancouver--she was in a series of BC Lottery commercials here...
  2. Ha I liked the teen scene at the time--I guess I was 15, though I did find some of the classroom stuff pretty Saved by the Bell--and later was more just into the stuff connected with Kevin. Thanks for posting the episode--I wouldn't have found it on my own.
  3. I would just like to smugly point out that I was correct it was a man's hand and was connected to poor Daniel The first episode opened on a flashback of Labour Day (the end of the Hamptons' season I assume) and then really started at the beginning of the Hamptons' season, Memorial Day. I was a bit worried for Nolan too but then reminded myself he was there, and alive, in the Labour Day flashback. I assume episode 13 when this central plot is meant to end will be Labour Day.
  4. Thanks for the link! Wow she does seem to be slightly losing it...
  5. Just caught up with last week's--loved how in many ways it felt like a slight reboot from the direction we were heading (which this show has done before)--keeps it fresh. I'm confused though--did Klaus say why hybrids were so much better? are they just stronger as werewolves and Vamps? or can they control it? Or?
  6. Repeats? here it was just pre-empted. I dunno, for any new show to me it makes sense to just wait if they can only get three new episodes in--it loses momentum (not sure how much Glee needs momentum but)
  7. It does look like a jump but pausing them I'm not convinced those couldn't be a man's hands... And the only people on the show who are always drinking harder booze from tumbler or high ball glasses are those two
  8. Yeah that CGI was almost as bad as some of those RInger scenes... OK maybe not quite. It does look like he slips something into Danie;'s drink and jumps him but yeah could be just an extra tease of a promo... (Finally got caught up in time for tomorrow's episode). I'm not worried about ratings, though it is often hard to maintain momentum with shows like this. It's helped insanely by being in what for years has been ABS's worst (major night) spot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wd-EAzDQBmQ
  9. I can only assume that authorwasn't all that thrilled with the following few years of OLTL then... It is a fascinating review though, and largely seems to relflect what I know of that year.
  10. That director Sector was an early Canadian indie movie guy who had some success with a 60s gay film Winter Made Us Warm which was controversial as it got Canadian art council funding--I saw it ten or so years back at a Montreal gay film fest and just remember thinking it a sweet but basic early gay love story, but that probably was unfair given its era and the fact that I had to watch a ton of movies that festival for a university paper series I was doing. I had no idea about this film (which apparently was finally released by Troma pictures, no less, and ultimately released in the US as Feelin' Up). The review of it at imdb http://www.imdb.com/...0198512/reviews is pretty hysterical, as is the cover art fot he VHS which makes it look like a Porky's rip off, but I'm a bit more curious now to know the Groome connection.
  11. I think Agnes was already getting a bit fed up by the P&G restrictions (things like her not being able to have a black and white woman be roomates together, etc.)--plus I'm sure she was promoting OLTL even if she was still at AW for a while longer. I get the feeling ABC paid attention to young demos from very early on--even from the late 60s, which was one reason they saw OLTL as such a big hit out of the gate, when number wise it really wasn't all that much. I know in primetime as well ABC kinda found their niche by attracting a younger audience--and it does seem that, at least from theri cult success with Dark Shadows on, they realized that that was a strong way to try to make inroads with daytime soaps.
  12. It really is--that's the Ryan Murphy way. Charles Pratt is busy head writing Lying Game but... I actually agree with everything you said Skin, and I know we don't often see eye to eye lol. Why bother bringing Sam Evans back especially as they're adding characters this year anyway? I also know it had to do with sports (and X Factor) but it seems a bad move to pre empt the show for three weeks so early in the season.
  13. They seem to be getting a BIT more than previous years, but... (I dunno how much longer they're gonna tease the homoerotic tension between the two--obviously it won't go anywhere but).
  14. Just caught it now--always great to see more pics of Gillian as Vicki/Nicki. How I wish that wedding described was available to watch.
  15. So she went from that uber cheap sounding wine to Diet Dr Pepper ?
  16. I have NEVER heard anyone claim that Hollywood has no liberal bias, LOL. But I don't doubt you, I guess. That said--recently, you must admit, the scandals involving politicans who "sext", etc, are conservative--it adds to the scandal if they're not being true to their ideals--by havign affairs, or being secretly gay, etc. Also creator Mike Kelly si openly gay and democratic--he did Swingtown--and I think it's his right to write his show the way he wants. (Of course I admit I'm biased--if I lived in the US I would never vote for a conservative plotiican). But I think you can't take it as realistic--like I complained about the stuff about young Amanda being locked up in a youth asylum, being repeatedly interviews only by the ONE therapist, etc, is so utterly beyond realistic in anywhere in North America where you have to constantly have two adults in the room, etc, and the tapews are usually reviewed by someone else as well. There's no way they'd allow this one shrink to berrate the girl repeatedly into saying her dad is bad, or telling her she's a liar and liars are bad, etc. I'm less invested in politics than I think you are--so if that aspect about the asylum bugged me, I do get why the political stuff does. But I could let it wash over me fine. To be fair about the DVD hacking--all she did was took an old DVD and slipped in her new one, and pretended she found it in the player. I'm not sure that's hacking as much as the classic bait and switch.
  17. It did, but that rape story was still damn brilliant in so many ways, and groundbreaking. Nearly every soap writer seems to be unable to resist "redemption from rape" to some extent.
  18. RIP Oddly the opening murder scene in this week's American Horror Story featured a lot on a year one episode of Peyton place (which means they were two years off as it was meant to be 1968 by when PP whent to colour)
  19. I saw him in pink as trying way too hard to dress and act more like the Hamptonites he loathes but wants to be a part of--pink polo shirts like that aren't remotely gay in that scene, IMHO. I don't really egt the gay vibe--though he seems desperate to be friends with anyone--guy or girl--and desperate to be a part of their lives--either in a good or bad way.
  20. He's just too mannered to be some cool "tough" James Dean kid, and he can NOT pull it off. Like I said, I blame the dialogue as well, but man... From what I remember, and it was never that clear, Victoria's husband--or him and a whole group, had it set up so that it looked like Emily's father gave information to a terrorist group who then using that information ahd a plane explode killing all its passengers. He wanted the husband locked up--and I'm sure it's not just because he knew about Victoria's affair--was her father somehow involved in his business and he got it all? Somehow he got a lot of his money from the deal--the only reason Emily ended up so rich was because of the investment the dad made (from jail?) in Nolan's company which blew sky high. I still wanna know why Emily was locked up in juvie... Yeah, after a couple more episodes if each ep was focused on one clear revenge scheme, it would get a bit samey I think or gimmicky.
  21. When I saw the advance screener pilot in the Summer, and ALL the advertisements, I admit, I didn't think it stood a chance in Hell. (And not due to quality at all). And then I saw the good first week ratings--and how much trouble ABC is having with dramas... So I'm glad too. I think it could gain momentum with word of mouth. Nah they should keep it where it is. I don't much liek proedurals either (find them dull), but right now it's up against L&O and CSI (I believe), both shows that have already peaked and are on the decline. It's also the only serial show in that time slot so is great counterprogramming--AND Wednesday at ten has for a while now been a KILLER (in a bad way) timeslot for ABC--they'd be foolish to mess with it now.
  22. Ha I love that promo too as it shows quickly what was discussed on here--how she came on with the intention of being a vixen, and fairly quickly was softened and did her incest story (which many hated but that's just when I started watching and as a kid, used to never seeing issues like that I knew from real life but not on TV, I found it riveting). She certainly spent her last while on the show as a vastly different character.
  23. Why can't she be? Wouldn't the ultimate irony be to find out, once they direectly go head to head, that they're mother and daughter? Ok you're right it would get too far out and icky with Daniel...
  24. I actually, sadly, think it's gonna be more straight forward than that. I'd rather your take, but I think Tyler wants Daniel to be unhappy and maybe dead--his own revenge for somethign that happened? I dunno (maybe he killed Daniel...) I mean he waited noticeably a long time to turn Daniel's head down, and I saw zero look of longing there, more contempt or superiority. Wouldn't he have tried to put the moves on Daniel if that was the reason to get him drunk, and it wasn't just to lead to the ruin of his life?
  25. If Emily is Victoria's daughter, maybe Victoria had her locked away so nobody would find out? I dunno, it seems too simple that she always saw Emily as a girl watching her and knew she probably knew what she had done stabbing her father in the back. The only thing that btoehred me about today was I felt like I had to stretch my sense of disbelief just a bit too far with all the stuff about the basically asylum Emily (I won't bother calling her Amanda) was in. I've volunteered at a similar place, and there's next to never a time when a child is one on one with a shrink or other adult, somebody else has to be in the room, etc. But if I'm willing to believe that Amanda managed to get the surveillance tapes even from there, then I guess I'll go with it. Oh and I HATE Declan. All the more. I just wanna punch him in the teeth--something about his acting choices, though the pseudo James Dean dialogue he's given (what teen talks like that) doesn't help. Just... No.
