Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
I was totally fooled by the beginning of Thursday's episode! I was like, "Not another death!! Not Jack!" I really liked the Jack/Darren scenes from Wed and Thursday. Ahh....so that dude with Newt wasn't real. I wondering who he was. How/Why is Newt schizo? He was adopted by Jack and Frankie? Speaking of Kris, I guess he's a cross dresser? How did Jack become bankrupt and how did Darren get in debt with the loan sharks? Darren or Jack better tell them the truth very quickly.

AHh..okay..I thought it was "Change." Both are great songs. I know eh. She was phenomenal! That was a sweet goodbye scene. I loved Tom asked Max why he didn't hug OB and said that he might never see him again. LOL Max/Tom//OB is such a great trio. It's so sad to not see any great friendships on US soaps anymore. LOL!! Also, "Thank you for this award....but....I just don't know what to say about it." So happy for them. They rock. I was wondering about this too. Thanks! Oh, Cindy and Mandy are pretty hot too. There's so many good looking women on this show......past and present! She shouldn't have left HO in the first place.

Ellis Hollins (Tom) won an award?! That's so awesome. He was very good back then too? Wow, he's going to be even more super talented when he gets older. Tom ran away to the cemetary because he was afraid the social work was going to take him away and because he wanted to be with his mom and dad. He's so adorable here! LOL!! Woah, those were really good episodes. I loved hearing "My Immortal" - it's such a sad song. Steph reading OB's eulogy and they're cutting back and forth to Tom/Ob sitting together crying. And then Steph starts to sing "Change" by the Sugerbabes which I believe is Steph/Max's song - the lyrics make it such a perfect song for them. "> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"> Tom is so cute and he's a very good actor for his age. My heart just broke when Tom said to OB/Steph, "I don't want to say goodbye....don't make me." I love this clip of Max/Tom: "> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"> I love Steph! Glad she's going to be taking care of Tom. That scene on the bench with Tom...... I'm definitely a new fan of hers. The actress is so good. So why is OB (and the actor) leaving?

Okay, so Tina and Dom are the biological parents but Tina agreed to give up the baby to Jacqui because Jacqui couldn't have kids anymore? But now, because of the operation, Tina can't have kids either. Damnnnn......What a dilemma for Jacqui and Tina! The scenes in the hospital room were very good. Such agony for both sisters. Still haven't gotten to the funeral episodes yet. I'll probably catch that tonight.

But those are small families. I meant big soap opera tyle families. GH is like that right now with small group of families - not surprising since Guza is writing! I think Jim Reilly had a hand with those changes (more family members, slower pace). They didn't do well in any of the 3 years. They couldn't even pass their premiere week ratings, where as Passions beat their premiere week ratings in 18 months.- Sunset Beach Discussion Thread
I loved SuBe, but I defiintely see the errors before they even aired: - "Unlike most daytime dramas, which tend to build their storylines around families and family rivalries, Sunset Beach is about young singles and couples who have been drawn to the town, and the relationships that emerge as the action unfolds." - "Sunset Beach is being written at a faster pace than traditional daytime dramas." Daytime is not primetime and people trying to write a primetime show in daytime.....well....we know the result.....it only last 3 years - and The City only lasted 2 years. Thanks for posting the article, Sylph.- ALL: Soap Opera Background Music Thread
Stone died of aids. No, Marty didn't work for ATWT. But you're right, the music during that period was very good.- ALL: Soap Opera Background Music Thread
Since there are more composers, of course Marty's doing a handful of themes. The ones i really noticed are the piano cues. They sound a lot like Marty's. "> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355">- ALL: Soap Opera Background Music Thread
We have different philosophies about soap opera I guess.- ALL: Soap Opera Background Music Thread
You didn't? LOL I've been raving about Marty Davich for years now. Yeah, I pay attention to the music. I love background music. I download tv/film scores that I love. I think B&B has one of the worse BG music. I hate the saxaphone cues especially. B&B's music is so cheesy. There's nothing beautiful or sad or haunting or dramatic. It's just.....horrible. LOL Y&R's very good with the drama and tension and suspense. It's hard to believe B&B/Y&R share the same composers. They're so good at one show while sucking at another show.- ALL: Soap Opera Background Music Thread

I actually love OLTL's BG music because it's so dark and gothic. David Nichtern and Lee Holdridge have been there since 1992. I love them! That's no surprise. She used to be a music supervisor for GH (70's) and SB (early 80's) Yeah, it was probably Shelley. He arrived in 1993. I also have him at DAYS in 1994. One of the best themes ever! Oh you're right. Now they just play the beginning part of that.- ALL: Soap Opera Background Music Thread
Here's another example. At 3:10, Roman's theme (that's what I call it, I don't know if it was actually his theme) kicks in. I love this piece!! Another example of Roman's theme.....10 years later. It kicks in at 6:30: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQYYAvG1o0k- ALL: Soap Opera Background Music Thread
