  1. I LOVED how they remembered the John Paul, Craig, Hannah, and Sarah dynamic and what close friends they all were. I'm glad that Sarah and Craig finally have closure and that Sarah was finally able to forgive Craig.

I really liked that scene and I've only seen the beginning of their story (I'm still at the episode where Craig/Sarah go on their date).

The song that they used for John-Paul and Craig's last scene is "Epic Last Song" by Does It Offend You, Yeah?

    It's a great song!

What happened to the villainous Clare Cunningham?

Clare and Hannah went over a cliff and Clare "drowned." She later showed up at the airport.

    Here's her last scene.

This show has really experienced a 180 degrees change — from the most demented soap on TV to a must watch.

What was it like before? How was it bad?

BTW, whoever is playing Niall is a pretty compelling actor. Understated yet completely menacing. Nice bait-and-switch with the poisoned beers, JP!

At first I hated Niall but now I love to hate Niall because of Barry Sloane's acting. He's really good.

    I can't believe nobody mentioned Calvin/Carmel's wacky wedding! I couldn't stop laughing!!

    There was:

    - the tan

    - the rollerskates

    - the ugly dresses

    - Sasha's half fro/half straight hair

    - Spice Girls' "Two become 1" playing as Carmel walks down the isle

    - Carmel and her bridesmaids doing the "two" and "one" with their fingers

    LMAO!!!!!!!!

Mandy and Warren had sex. :o My Louise ended up sleeping in a dumpster. :( They're gonna do an alcoholism storyline aren't they? My poor beautiful Louise. :(

  2. Well he shoulda stuck to consulting--though I actually didn't like his consulting era the best. My prob with Passions compared to Sube was Sube moved at a fun pace and had GREAT witty, campy dialogue. Passions moves at a snail's pace, repeats the same scene over and over so that they no longer are fun, and for nearly tis whole run had awful dialogue with one or two fun lines thrown in.

So did SuBe, especially in 1999. Remember how many times Richard flashbacked to him finding the videotape and had the same scenes over and over when he had the stroke.

  3. They changed the opening soon after cuz they thought it felt too primtime soap with the darker music etc--I loved it.

It's funny I've never been a huge Spelling fan but I really enjoyed SB (especially when Margaret DePriest was writer)--to me it was the campy, silly, FUN soap that Passions shoulda been but never was.

Passions was campy, silly and fun. :P

And SuBe became that when JER began consulting. ;)

  4. I can't believe Malachy didn't tell Mercedes......and then he goes and sleeps with her again!! :o

Valerie kissed Calvin? What? :o Where did that come from? Did she like Calvin before or something?

LMAO at Carmel's tanned face. "What have you done to my face?" Everyone's a bit shocked. "It's peeeerfect."

I'm glad Elliot dumped Sarah too. I like Elliot with Hannah.

  5. Those were all flashbacks to the evil things Niall inflicted upon the McQueen family.

As for the Michaela flashback, Michaela had a drug problem earlier in the year. Niall knew this, so when he was at the McQueen house, he spiked her drink and when she went to her room to sleep it off, he injected her with a heroin overdose when he saw that she was asleep, and he planted the needle next to her. He did this to set her up and make Myra and the rest of the McQueen's lose faith in Michaela and not believe anything she he'd to say. Michaela insisted that she didn't inject herself, but Niall in talks with her convinced her that she must have, so she's led to believe that she did do it.

As for the JP flashback, Niall knew about Kieron and JP before everyone else. At the time Kieron was still a priest, so he set up the right moment where Myra would come to his apartment and discover that JP and Kieron were having an affair. Hence Myra's big outburst at Steph and Max's weeding towards Kieron and obviously towards Kieron having to leave the priesthood.

And of course you were watching the show by the time the Tina being pushed flashback was shown. :D

Thanks, Alvin. Man, that Niall sure is vile.

OK, October sounds really good, the McQueen and Niall storyline will get much hotter, and something unexpected will happen.

Then of course they'll be the Hollyoaks spin-off that will most likely tie into the parent show. :)

    What's this about a spin-off?

  6. OMG! Niall killed Kieron!! :o What kind of pills did he put in the beer?

Friday's episode was amazing - the actor who plays Niall is really good. Can someone explain to me the Michaela and Myra/JP flashbacks - what did Niall do?

I can't believe Steph slept with Niall already. It's only been 2 months since Max died!

I'm still way behind on the JP/Craig story so those reunion scenes didn't really impact me.

LOL! At Michela's crush on Mike.

I love Michaela - she's so funny. And then Mike/Zoe thinking she's gay. Ohh...and then Michaela asking her family if they think she looks gay. LMAO!!

  7. You mean the siblings?

Most of them aren't on the show anymore.

I think it's Cindy, Jude, Max, Dawn, and Tom. Tom is a half-sibling though.

Dawn died of leukemia, Jude fled the country, and now of course Max is dead.

What about Mandy? And is Tom older than Holly?

I'm so not reading that spoiler. ;)

  8. Alvin, what's the order of the Cunningham family?

Niall is worming his way into Tom and Steph's life. <_<

I'm starting to think the dude Calvin killed isn't really dead. Warren's just making that up so he'll have something to hold over Calvin. I'm a bit suspicious cause Warren said he buried the body by himself.

  9. I had to bump this thread, because I finally found a longer version of Stone's death theme.

It's from the ABC Afterschool Special Positive: A Journey Into AIDS, produced by Wendy Riche and Shelley Curtis. It detailed Kimberly McCullough and Michael Sutton finding out more about HIV/AIDS and the storyline at the time. The almost 3 minute version of the theme kicks in about the last 3 minutes of this clip, it starts at about the time Francesca James (then GH's Supervising Producer) is talking to Kimberly and Michael about their final scene together.

This score is simply AMAZING, and probably the best score I've ever heard on a soap.

Thank you so much for posting that, Alvin! I had no idea there was a Special on this storyline. I really want to see the entire storyline and wish someone would upload edits of it.

I agree with you. It's one of the best scores I've ever heard on a soap, along with "Roman's theme" on DAYS. Marty is so brilliant - I can't say that enough.

  10. Tuesday's show was so good.

I love seeing the McQueen women together - they can get so snippy with each other. "Ah, there she is, Milky Poppins."

I went from  when Michaela's food got on her dress to :o when Tina slapped Jacqui! Great scenes! I felt so bad for Jacqui at the end, but I also felt bad for Tina went she wasn't with Max. There are no winners in this storyline. :(

Ravi/Nancy and Russ were fun to watch. at the end with Russ turning up the volume as Ravi/Nancy went into the bedroom.

Louise and Mandy in the same scenes......so much hotness.

    Toups,

That's what bothers me about that soap. Yes, we need breaks from characters, but you can literally go weeks without seeing your faves and that can be annoying.

It's not that annoying for me right now because I'm practically enjoying every character and storyline.

  11. I've noticed that there's a lot of funny characters and a lot of humour that's part of the show. Zak is one of my favorite characters. He's a lovable loser. LOL Leila, Giddy, Rhys, Elliot, Michaela, Mercedes, Tom, also make me laugh.

I also noticed that characters disappear for weeks/months and then they just reappear. Like on Monday's episode, Ravi shows up - I haven't seen him since I starated watching in late June. And Caroline last week, who BTW, is pretty hot too. I can't say this enough but there's so many hot women on this show. :)

  12. Since da33431 is taking forever to upload new eps, I've decided to watch the very beginning of JP/Craig.

The subtitles during Sarah and Craig's first date was hilarious!

Okay so when this was airing (Late Nov 2006), did the viewers know that JP and Craig were gonna hookup?

  13. Another favourite Clare scene of mine. After Clare had falsely reported Max to Social Services for abusing Tom, she goes to Tom and tells him that everyone who he's loved and that loves him dies because of him. So, when the Social Service Worker comes to investigate Tom and Max, Tom falsely tells the Social Worker that he doesn't want to live with Max anymore because Clare convinced him that Max would die because of him (though he doesn't say that directly), like Tom's other loved ones.

The sad thing is, Clare was right, everyone who loves Tom ends up dying.

Clare is insane, and it's kind of funny in a bad way the stuff she tells Tom.

Thanks for sharing the clip! I love Tom and Clare so anything with them is appreciated. :D

Clare: "Hello, Tom. Have you missed me? I'm sure you have. I know how much you hate it when everybody leaves you."

    Tom: "Max is over there."

Clare: "I know blessin [???]. I just want to have a little chat about big brave Max."

Tom: "He's not scared of you."

Clare: "Why would he be? I only want the best for you boys. Now listen, you know grownups, they don't always tell the truth. Well, auntie Clare does. And auntie Clare's got a secret. Max isn't well, Tom. Cause you keep giving him your germs."

    Tom: "He's fine."

Clare: "You're making him ill, so ill that he'll die."

    Tom: "You're lying."

Clare: "How do you think baby Grace died? And your mommy and daddy?"

    Tom: "It was an ancident."

Clare: "All your friends have mommies and daddies. Except you, Tom. That's why they died. Now listen if you love Max, really love Max, you need to keep away from him. You don't want anyone else to die, do you?"

    Tom: "Nooo."

Clare: "Then you mustn't tell anyone, especially Max. He'll be so sad of you killed baby Grace and his daddy and his step mommy."

Tom: "Clare, did I really kill them?"

    Clare: "Yes, Tom, you did."

Tom runs away crying with his soccer ball.

Then in the third clip, Tom's like: "I can't live with you anymore." :(

Clare was one evil bitch!!! Love her.

  14. Clare  Please come back!!! :D I really want to see her storylines from 2006, 2007! I've only seen episodes here and there. :(

Last week was alright. Not too much happening except for Ste falling! When he fell, I thought he died.

This week is going to be good with Jack's "funeral" and the stuff with Newt!

Thanks for the heads up. :)

  15. I just saw the baby shower by the Mcqueens talk about classic. I was laughing so much. They truely are a crazy family. I felt so bad for the girl who had the baby and BAM Ross walks in to get Mercedes their divorce papers. It was classic.

Yeah, that was fun to watch. I love the McQueens! And Nial was there too! lol

So why are Ross/Mercedes getting a divorce?

I feel for Newt as well and he is coming into his own as well. Boy Jack and Darren are going to see hell when this scam comes out. Frankie is going to kill them.

I feel so bad for Newt. :(

WOW, Friday's episode was great. I LOVE that Amy's finally left Ste, after he beat her up AGAIN. It's sad that she has yet another baby on the way though, that's the last thing she needs in her life right now. I love how Tina is consoling her though. There was such a theme of parenthood in this episode. Like Amy raising Leah in an abusive relationship and being pregnant, Tina regretting giving Max to Jacqui and Tony, and Kris' bad relationship with his own father. That's why I love Hollyoaks so much, no matter how different everything is, there's always so sort of unifying factor going on somehow.

This past week was the first time I saw Amy/Ste and I'm glad Amy left that abusive psycho. So are both kids Ste's?

I've seen Monday's episode too and its even better. :)

Amy's dad beat Ste's ass. LOL

Oh man, I wish Louise was on more! That girl is fine! And Zoe too! It was my first time seeing her. Also there was Jacqui in the boots/skirt combo this past week.

I can't get enough of the Hollyoaks women! :D

  16. A little too JER-ish for you, eh? ;):P

It was really JER-ish. It's just that the editing of the scenes at the opening fooled me.

Newt is a foster kid that Jack and Frankie took in last fall, he's definitely had a troubled past.

Summary from Wikipedia regarding him being a schizo:

Woah, that scene must've been really good. It's very Sixth Sense-ish.

Well, kind of, he's a gay man who loves wearing female clothing. LOL!

Darren lost his half of The Dog (the pub/place where Jack, Frankie, and Darren lives) in a game of poker to Warren. In order to get Darren's half back, Jack took out a loan. However, this caused him to go into huge debt, which is only getting worse.

Darren had a gambling addiction that set the whole thing off earlier in the year. Jack and the rest of the Osborne/Dean family disowned him for a while, but eventually Jack forgave him. Jack suffered a heart attack initially when he learned how Darren lost his half of The Dog.

Darren's gambling problems got so bad that he started stealing Frankie's jewlerly to pay off his debts. Jack initially thought it was Newt who was the theif, so he kicked Newt out. He eventually invited Newt to come back, but since then "Eli" has been telling Newt that Jack wants to send him back into the foster care system and the only way to stop this is if he kills Jack.

    Thanks for the backstory. ;)
