  1. I am sorry this Zende/Luna storyline has triggered any rape survivor, and I am sorry if my comments triggered any rape survivor.

Let me be clear, though: I have NEVER sympathized with a rapist. I have NEVER sided with a rapist.

I have -- multiple times -- talked about how awful this storyline is, how horribly it's written, how terrible it is in every respect. I cannot condemn it more harshly.

If posters here want to call what Zende did a rape and call him a rapist, fine. I disagree. I realize I am out on a limb by myself and that no one has spoken up to agree with me. That could mean that everyone on this board thinks I'm clueless, or it could mean that others who understand my point of view/agree with me just don't want to get involved in what's become a mess.

I have to ask: Based on what we've seen and heard, if this went to trial, would you want Zende to be guilty of rape? Would you want him jailed as a rapist? Because if you don't -- and I don't --you see that this is not a black-and-white situation. You see there's a lot of gray here. A LOT.

Rape is about power and control and violence and domination. At no point can those words be applied to Zende. And that's why I cannot call this a rape.

Part of the reason I'm so disgusted with BOLD is that they wrote this story -- purposefully -- to have all that gray area. They wanted the sex to happen while having no one "responsible." They gave us awful plot to accomplish an end.

  2. -- Eileen Davidson is such a great actress, and there's no question that she can handle a descent into madness.

But this storyline? It's the mess that everyone here has described, and it's beyond annoying to see Ashley fall apart because of one argument in a Paris bistro. It's ludicrous and pathetic. I love ED, but I don't want this on my screen.

-- The business stories continue to be the worst in soap history. That is not hyperbole. There's not one business story we have a reason to care about. Everything is about changing executives like musical chairs and it's all done offscreen with no detail.

Do we even know what Kyle does? Or what Summer does? Or what (insert any name) does? Do we know -- or have we ever known -- what Tucker wants? Do we know why Audra moves from company to company? Do we know what Ashley does? Do we know why Diane is in a leadership position at Jabot? Do we know why Abby has to leave her Society job to be on the board at CW? Do we know why Chance is a CW? What Nate is doing? Why Billy cares about the name of CW? Do we know what Sharon's company does?

You all know we can ask another 100 questions about business in Genoa City. The truth is that Josh Griffith cannot write business stories -- and that's all he gives us. It's maddening.

Nobody is charging anyone with anything. But it is a rape.  And it's not about Zende. It's strange to me that you are focusing on WHO it is, other than WHAT he did.

How many times can you contradict yourself and evade the question?

So it's a rape but you don't want to charge anyone? And it's a rape but it's not about Zende?

I'm not focusing on "who it is" -- Zende -- so I don't know what you're talking about.

Rape is not an act of force, that's the old idea.

It's an act committed without the conscious aware consent of both parties.
If one party is aware that the other is unaware and goes ahead anyhow, then it's not legal consent.  Without legal consent, it's rape.

So that means you're in favor of charging Zende with rape.

    Just own it.

I might have come on strong to @ranger1rg but that wasn't my attention. I apologize to him if I did.

No reason to apologize, Soapsuds. I wasn't offended. I realize people disagree on this -- what happened between Zenda and Luna and what to call it.

As I've said repeatedly, I think this story is horribly written, and it ruins multiple characters. It's an embarrassing story to tell, and it's told embarrassingly. It's a disaster.

    What it isn't is rape.

Rape is so foul, so egregious, so wrong, and the word cannot be used without context and explanation. I cannot imagine being in favor of charging Zende with rape for what took place. Do I know what to call it? Yeah -- a terrible story in need of explanation. What it isn't is rape.

    It's *legally* rape in California.

the accused is guilty of rape if engaging in an act of sexual intercourse where the other person is prevented from resisting by any intoxicating or anesthetic substance, or any controlled substance, and this condition was known, or reasonably should have been known, by the accused.
    California Penal Code § 261(a)(3)
    https://california.public.law/codes/ca_penal_code_section_261

There are enough holes in that sentence to make a defense team very happy.

Are you seriously in favor of charging Zende with rape??? For what we saw and heard???

    I'm sorry, but I'm not.

Well it’s kind of the same story as Caroline banging the hell out of Thomas because she thought it was - Who? Rick? Now it’s Luna takin her man RJ for a hot ride.  Except it was Zende.  Yawn.

OK, but that is not a rape.

Do you guys classify this as rape?

    What is "this"?

So, I actually agree it seems to be an Amanda Setton problem, but the show allows it.  I have some issues with her and KS as well.  I think in 2024 it's a slippery slope with women in this industry and their beliefs, feelings, comfortability, etc.   These women aren't actively endangering their co-stars with their issues like SBu and IR were with the vax.  It's just a notable aesthetic issue.  Do I think AS is in the right industry if she's completely unwilling to show skin?  No, absolutely not.  But the backlash for firing her or Kirsten would be too much because they really aren't doing anything wrong if the show is fine with it.

I understand your point about firing AS ans KS.

Still, contracts expire, and GH doesn't have to renew them. If they can dump SB and IR (for admittedly worse violations), they can get rid of actors who no longer represent the character.

Besides, I always thought a show could release an actor after any 13-week period even though the actor was tied to the show for the contract length.

I would just like to see more cast departure announcements than cast additions at this point lol.

Same here. It's why I rolled my eyes at the casting of Eva LaRue. It's like they add characters without giving any thought to how much airtime they can give them. It's just insanity at this point.

I don't know if Steve Burton has been hitting the Krispy Kremes, but I think Chad Duell has. I think Michael's been on a donut binge.

As for Mr Griffith himself, with so many directions to go in, he never fails to choose the least interesting or illogical path.

Isn't that the truth? Always so much potential -- leading to nothing.

I wonder if those execs actually watch the show, or just read the projections? I mean, they might be under the impression that what was written, actually happens on the show, lol.

If I wrote you a projection about how Mariah and Tessa would decide to have a child, have problems adopting because they had criminal histories, then get cleared, then meet with multiple potential birth mothers, have their hopes dashed time after time when the mothers changed their minds, then finally connected with one and went through the process of adoption, and then slowly noticed that the child wasn't reacting to things, realized she couldn't hear, and got a cochlear implant... it doesn't sound like a bad story. I would be thinking about all the Camryn Grimes Emmy bait scenes, the anticipation, the joy, the tears when it all falls through... very Bill Bell style... and then finally meeting the birth mother, going through that emotional journey... the birth, holding the child for the first... the slow realization that something is wrong...

Except almost none of this ever happened. Updates were just relayed to Sharon at the coffee house once every couple of weeks. We didn't even see the baby for months. They sat in the park and explained how Aria didn't react to silverware falling on the floor. They barely sprung for a doctor's office set for two scenes (I was surprised) and then the story was over.

So I wonder if Josh Griffith tells the execs that Tessa and Mariah are adopting a child, or if he tells them the truth, that Tessa and Mariah will be sitting in the coffeehouse telling Sharon about how they adopted a child. I don't expect the suits to care, of course. I am sure they think the audience is dumb and if they can maintain enough of a rating just talking about stuff, that's good enough (and if the ratings fall they won't try to improve it, just cut the budget even more so we see less).

Bold, your explanation of the Mariah/Tessa story is spot on perfect, and the fact that you could do this with so many Y&R storylines is telling...and pathetic.

That's actually quite a daring move for Josh.

Usually all business ventures are super successful from the get go.

It's still ridiculous, Paul, especially since we see nothing that Sally does or works on. There's not one business story on this show that works.

Also not working? Casting child actors who look like they're stoned. Dominic and Harrison could not look more uninvolved and bored and disinterested than they do. The other child actors are no better, because they never seem to forget they're "ACTING."

Your guy!  Surprised you haven't started a Mike Manning love fest thread.😂

Not thrilled with the way Na'vell shot the interview. Horribly done IMO.

Horribly shot is right. I've just watched t he first 4 minutes and cannot understand why so little of the camera time is on Mike Manning. A side-by-side would be better than this, as well as letting the guest talk. If it doesn't get better, I'm out before the 10-minute mark.

That's because she is dressing AS Kirsten Storms not as Maxie Jones, and that's where that issue stands. In terms of character it gets "shredded," not actor. I've yet to see anyone bash Storms, merely the choices (or lack thereof) in terms for Maxie Jones.

Nope. Many posters have commented that Storms is making her own decisions on wardrobe and styling.

I ran a poll on "Best Hair in Daytime".

LW won hands down, no competition! with 39% of the vote.

    Tracy Bregman 20%

    Donna Mills 16%

That's cool, Donna. Others disagree with me -- and that's OK. I think her hair is "too much," but I don't think everyone or anyone has to agree with me,.

No one said opinions were off limits. Other people just had opinions about his opinions, didn't they? As in Variety is the spice of life & it's okay to disagree?

Of course it's OK to disagree. I never said it wasn't.

I responded as I did because I was called shallow and judgmental.

And all of that is your opinion. And it's one that, from my POV, is a very shallow and judgmental one to have, especially on women. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It's like telling men they can't have longer hair because they're men, in my opinion. And I know plenty of women Laura Wright's age who would kill to have the volume she has.

I won't deny my hair comments are judgmental and even shallow. And???

Others on this board have been judgmental about wardrobe, hair, styling, and more. Kirsten Storms' styling gets shredded on the regular. We're allowed to share opinions here.

And men? I can offer my opinions on them, too, if you'd like. I didn't in my previous post because I wanted to avoid making my post too long LOL
