GH: February 2025 Discussion Thread
I hope you realize that the passion you see here for BTG is not indicative of the makeup of their audience. I love these boards -- the diverse and crazy opinions, the rumors, the inside-the-weeds stuff -- but most viewers don't care about any of that. Just as X isn't real life, these boards are not real life. You can already see here that while most of us are high on what's coming and a few are overpraising every little thing, a few people are taking jabs and throwing in a little Debbie Downer shade. That's probably going to continue. Premiere week will fill dozens of pages of comments on this board, but the truth is that the vast viewing audience doesn't even know we exist.

Y&R: February 2025 Discussion Thread
I have big problems with all 4 soaps, but I honestly think Y&R is the worst. The other 3 can greatly annoy me and get me to rant, but Y&R is just flat-out boring. With GH and BOLD and DAYS, I say "I can't believe what I'm seeing and hearing." With Y&R, I say "Why am I even watching this?" The DAYS stuff with Body & Soul was a disaster -- and Ron Carlivati deserved to be fired -- yet at least it was a trainwreck. Even a trainwreck is better than what we get on Y&R. I wonder how much anyone at CBS and Sony cares about this show any longer. If they did, Josh Griffith would have been thrown out long ago.

All these conversations with Steffy at home -- with Liam, with Daphne, with Finn -- and nary a kid in sight. Hilarious. I guess they're all on play dates. $Bill's AC problem: Remy mentioned freon. Do these writers know that freon has been phased out for OVER 30 YEARS -- since 1992? Any new AC bought after 2010 HAD to be freon free, and it is now BANNED. These writers are so effing dumb.

If GH is going there with Joss as WSB, I doubt if Chris McKenna is leaving anytime soon. Regardless, I think he's been a good recast. He's not Charles Mesure, but I like him in the role. My problem is that any WSB agent could look at Joss and think "THERE'S our next agent!" Nothing in Joss' background or past screams WSB.

I didn't. Your mileage may vary on that, and I understand if you disagree. I wanted Frank, GH, and yes, even Josh to know that scene didn't work, that it wasn't even close to looking like a married couple in the bedroom. I did not blame Setton. I did not say she's calling the shots on her wardrobe. I merely pointed out the ridiculousness of Brook Lynn wrapped in layers of clothes while Chase was shirtless and in red satin boxers.

Respectfully, Josh Swickard does not say he won't do intimacy scenes. He said he won't do gratuitous scenes, and there's a big difference. I have no problem with him having the discussion with the show, but if he's willing to go shirtless in a bedroom scene, he is NOT the problem. I don't see him saying no to a genuine and sincere "love scene" between two married and consenting adults. The problem here is Amanda Setton. If they're going to allow her to enforce her "modesty practice from her religious beliefs," they need to stop writing these scenes entirely.

-- The theme music is just OK to me. I like the first 10 seconds, but not what happens in the rest. -- I like seeing the actors' names, just as I enjoy that on Y&R. BOLD did it years ago but poorly, adding character names with script all over the place and fast-changing cast photos. -- Also like Y&R? Having each cast member in both color AND in black & white. Seems a bit derivative to me. Overall, I wouldn't call it a miss, but it's not a hit, either. Can't help feeling a bit disappointed.

On X, I was just told by a soap podcaster that my comment was "rude and unneccessary" when I said Brook Lynn was ridiculously wrapped in all those layers in a bedroom scene. The podcaster attached a gif that stated "I don't like messy bottoms." So I was out of line for wanting realism in a bedroom scene, but it was OK to call me a messy bottom. Got it. BTW, I did not tag Amanda Setton in my post, although Frank, Josh Swickard, and GH were tagged. I think these people should know when stuff is bad.

Agreed. That character has been on fumes for years, and he's emblematic of Valentini's insistence on holding on to characters/actors for FAR too long. Cyrus has been a caricature since forever. Nope, me either. I'd be sad to see GH, Y&R, or BOLD or DAYS go, but I wouldn't dwell on it. My sadness would be for the genre itself -- saying goodbye to a form of TV that I've really loved. But I also know I'm angry about what's happened to those shows. Look at today's GH. I just started the episode and already I'm angry. Chase is in the bedroom, looking so fine in only red satin boxers, and Brook Lynn walks in like there's no heat in th damn house. She's wrapped in some damn robe that's so thick and covers so much that you cannot see an inch of skin. That is not the daytime I know or want. It's one reason I'm so excited about BTG, which is intent on giving us the steamy and sexy and soapy. GH continues to allow actors to call the shots, and that is disgusting. It hurts the entire show, and I'm sick of it. Amanda Setton should have been fired LONG ago for this bullsh_t, not enabled and indulged. I don't care what happens the rest of the hour. They've already ticked me off.

Agree with you about the vets being paid more and about the cost of filming in L.A. I read the same thing about The overnight crew being gone. Honestly, I'd rather have a cast with fewer high paid veterans than to go without sets being hanged or being so small that everything looks cramped.
