HENRY NEWMAN JOINS "DAYS" AS SCRIPT WRITER...THIRD MEMBER OF FAMILY TO WRITE FOR "DAYS"... Henry Newman was credited for his first script today on "Days of Our Lives." He is the son of long-time "Days" script editor Fran Myers. His brother, John Newman, wrote for "Days" in the 2000s and 2010s. He replaces Cheryl Davis, whose last episode aired on May 26.

GEORGE McDANIEL IN LOVING MEMORY JUNE 30, 1942-MARCH 24, 2023 (Jordan Barr, 1979-1980) George McDaniel, who played the contract role of Dr. Jordan Barr on "Days of Our Lives" for 67 episodes from 1979-1980, has passed away at the age of 80. McDaniel's death was confirmed by his daughter in a Facebook post a few weeks ago. McDaniel acted in many productions from the 1970s to 2020s. One of his last roles was a guest stint on the CW series "All American" in 2018. On "Days", his character was a psychiatrist who treated and later dated Julie after her face had been burned.

Yes, Bill's just a little over 2000 and Susan is just closing in on 3000, so Dee passed both of them long ago in the episode rankings. Suzanne just hit 3000 last year. At Doug's Place, Rebecca is doing just that, by relating it in the terms of a fairy tale. Hope's only concern is that she will be able to be the flower girl in the wedding. Marlena arrives at Doug's Place, finding Don alone in the deserted restaurant. Trying to be upbeat, Don asks Marlena to go out on the town with him, but she refuses, reminding him never to get involved on the rebound. He's a little tipsy, and jokingly blames her for the mess his life is in. It was on her advice he went after Julie in the first place. Marlena arrives home, is a bit tired, restless, when there is a knock on the door. It's a slightly inebriated Don. Rather than send him out on the Salem streets in his condition, she decides to pour some food into him and sober him up. Actually, she doesn't totally mind his company. But he falls asleep at the table during dinner, which she knows is best for him...he's hurting.

If he is forced to, he may never be able to face the responsibility of freedom again.

Soaps have always continued production during the previous writer strikes, so we shall see what happens this time around. "Days" has a scheduled dark week this week, so they don't have to make a decision until Monday. "Days" has two writers who went fi-core in 2007, so it's possible the two of them could take over the full writing duties during the strike.

IATSE ("Days") ISSUES STATEMENT: Message to IATSE Local 33 Members Working under NBC, CBS, ABC, Television City, Days of Our Lives, and Theatrical Resources Collective Bargaining Agreements Concerning Potential Writers Guild (WGA) Against AMPTP Dear Sisters and Brothers, As you are no doubt aware, the Writers Guild of America is likely to go on strike against the AMPTP on May 2, 2023. It is possible, of course, that our brothers, sisters, and siblings in the WGA will picket in front of our workplaces. IATSE International President Matthew Loeb has stated, “IATSE supports the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) in their collective fight to win a fair contract from Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on behalf of the talented workers they represent.” He has also issued written guidance to our brothers, sisters, and siblings in the backlot locals, explaining their right to choose not to cross WGA’s picket lines. I want to make sure you are aware of your rights under Local 33’s collective bargaining agreements with NBC, CBS, ABC, Television City, Days of Our Lives, and Theatrical Resources. Each of those agreements contains the following language (or language that is identical in substance): Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Agreement, the Company shall not require any employee covered hereunder to pass through a legal picket line when the establishment of such picket line has been authorized or approved by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, and the refusal of any such employee to pass through such a picket line shall not constitute a breach of this Agreement by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees or the Union. Furthermore, the Company shall not require any employee covered hereunder to perform the duties of employees in other collective bargaining units who are on strike against the Company. This provision means that each employee has the right to make their own individual choice whether to cross a picket line during the upcoming WGA strike. If Powell and Marlena are in agreement, no trial or hearing is necessary because the judge ordinarily goes along with it. They simply sign the petition stating Mickey is no longer considered dangerous to others or himself. While Laura is in Don's office, Mike comes to invite Linda to dinner. Furious, Linda once again demands that Mike leave her alone. She's afraid Laura will find out about them, but Mike is adamant. Though Mike has given no name, he's already told Laura there's a "real woman" in his life. Laura emerges from Don's office and Linda's fears are realized, because it's obvious Laura has guessed who the "real woman" is. Laura tells a surprised Mike that Mickey has requested his release and Mike agrees to drive her to the sanitarium to see Mickey. As Don and Linda close up shop for the night, he tries to kid her out of a nervous mood. Linda thinks Laura might talk Marlena and Dr. Powell into releasing Mickey before he's ready. Don senses Linda's also afraid Mickey might find out about her "relationship" with Mike. Not saying what he suspects or how much he knows, Don hopes Linda has helped straighten out some of Mike's hang-ups. At the sanitarium, Mickey and Laura have an emotional first meeting. It's been a long time. She's glad to see him, searching his face for signs of forgiveness. Mickey apologizes for what he's done to everyone...Laura, Mike, even Bill; but knowing how badly Mickey wants his release, it's difficult to tell whether he's saying what he really feels or what he thinks Laura wants to hear.

When Bill enters the room, Rosie leaves with the baby and there is an electric moment as Laura descends the stairs and sees her son for the first time in so long.

Marlena reminds her that animals and people die without light. Laura weeps silently as Marlena advises her not to let the draperies become her birdcage cover. Still, she pleads with Marlena to leave them closed. Later, at Doug's Place, Marlena tells Don and Julie of Laura's emotional breakdown and promises to also speak with Tom and Alice. Laura will need all of her family and friends to aid in her recovery. Julie promises to visit Laura tonight and when Don goes for her wrap, Marlena reminds Julie how lucky she is to have Don; he loves her so. Julie agrees. She's determined to be a good wife. Rosie reminds Bill and Laura that Jennifer is six months old today. She sets up a fancy dinner in Laura's still semi-dark room, trying to stifle tears as she leaves them alone. Bill insists on lighting the candles. Laura pleads but Bill wants "to see my wife." Romantic candlelight affords the first clear look at Laura and it's difficult for Bill to find the words because it has been such a long, long time. Bill tells her how much he loves and has missed her, how he's needed her to say the same things to him, especially after she locked him out of their bedroom. They both agree to never let it happen again. Laura wants to see Jennifer Rose now, too, and Bill fetches her from Rosie. Bill proudly and lovingly watches Laura gently rock their baby.
