  1. FROM THE VAULT: NON-SOAP DAYTIME RATINGS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM AUGUST 1995 & NOVEMBER 1995:
  2. UPDATE ON 12/76-3/77 PREEMPTIONS: Comparing the 12/17/76 and 4/1/77 lists, here are the # of preemptions for each show. A few show preemptions are unknown due to some series going off the air or changing timeslots during this time frame. Once the early 1977 ratings are available, we will know the exact info: Telecasts as of 12/17/76...4/1/77 (should be 70 more telecasts)....Preemptions 12/76-3/77 (#s do not include fast weekly week of 12/20/76) All in the Family 58..........127....1 AMC 59...........69 (new time slot)...1 AW 59...........128...1 ATWT 59............128...1 DAYS 59..........128....1 Doctors 58..........123.....5 Don Ho 39...........Off the air 3/4/77...N/A Double Dare 5...........18 (new time slot)...N/A Edge 58............127....1 Fam Feud 57............126....1 50 Grand Slam 54............Off the air 12/31/76...N/A GH 56............125...1 Gong Show 59.............61 (new time slot)...N/A GL 57............123...4 Happy Days 59...........128...1 Hollywood Squares 54........123....1 Love of Life 59..........128....1 Match Game 58...........127....1 OLTL 54...........120....4 Price Right 1 56...........19 (new time slot)...N/A Price Right 2 56............20 (new time slot)...N/A RH 59............69 (new time slot)...1 Sanford 59...........127...2 Search 59...........128...1 Somerset 56...........Off the air 12/31/76...N/A Stumpers 54...........Off the air 12/31/76...N/A Tattletales 59.............129...0 20 Pyramid 57.............126...1 Wheel 59..............128...1 YR 59.,.............128...1 Series To Debut During 12/76-3/77 time frame: Lovers and Friends...................64 (of a possible 65; debuted 1/3/77)...1 preemption Name That Tune......................64 (of a possible 65; debuted 1/3/77)...1 preemption Second Chance......................20 (of a possible 20; debuted 3/7/77)...0 preemptions Shoot for the Stars..................64 (of a possible 65; debuted 1/3/77)...1 preemption

  5. FROM THE VAULT: NON-SOAP DAYTIME RATINGS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM AUGUST 1980 & NOVEMBER 1980:
  6. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: A LOOK AT ITS 1970'S RATINGS: Although not a daytime show, SNL has not had much coverage of its ratings data, so for SNL fans, here's a highlight look at the 1976-1979 years. Note: The last commercial break and final act of SNL are usually not rated, so that's why the end times differ for each episode.
  7. UPDATE # 2 (posted above): TPIR 2 is # 1 only briefly though, since I just started typing up the August 1980 chart, and ABC put Love Boat up against Price Is Right hour, and Love Boat is now # 1.
  8. I haven't posted them all yet, I was just saying it generally. I'll be finishing up the 1970's and 1990's in the next few days. February 1980 is the first chart that happens. Now you have me interested in checking the exact week, so I'll check the 11/79-1/80 weeks as well and see when that happens! UPDATE: Price Is Right 2 took over the # 1 spot the week of 2/4/80-2/8/80, which is when GL moved to 3-4PM, pushing One Day at a Time from 330-4PM to 4-430PM. The last week One Day at a Time aired at 330PM, 1/28/80-2/1/80, it got a 8.9/26 (98 percent clearance, 190 affiliates). The next week at 4PM, it got a 3.8/11 (62 percent clearance, 122 affiliates). So the cutting of One Day a Time affiliates from 190 to 122 is what finally got Price Is Right 2 into the # 1 spot. UPDATE # 2: It is only briefly though, since I just started typing up the August 1980 chart, and ABC put Love Boat up against Price Is Right hour, and Love Boat is now # 1.
  9. I recently posted these for 1976-1979 and 1990-1995, so going to start posting 1980-1989. A 4-week-a-year look at the non-soap daytime ratings! FROM THE VAULT: NON-SOAP DAYTIME RATINGS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM FEBRUARY 1980 & MAY 1980:
  10. FROM THE VAULT: NON-SOAP DAYTIME RATINGS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM FEBRUARY 1978 & MAY 1978: That's a fun stat. So, you mean it was on continuously on CBS in either the daytime, weekend or primetime slots from the 1950's to 1977? Quite a run!
  11. FROM THE VAULT: NON-SOAP DAYTIME RATINGS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM AUGUST 1994 & NOVEMBER 1994:
  12. I have checked the 20 dates missing from the 1977 fast weekly weeks in newspaper archives and found these scheduled preemptions. These notes have been added to these weeks: FAST WEEKLY WEEK OF 4/18/77-4/22/77 (Note: Per newspaper listings, there were several scheduled preemptions this week. On CBS, "Magazine" preempted "Double Dare" and "The Price Is Right 1" on 4/21/77 from 10-11AM. A President Carter News Conference on 4/22/77 was scheduled to preempt "Double Dare" on CBS and "Sanford and Son" on NBC from 10-1030AM. All other daytime shows were scheduled to air every day this week). FAST WEEKLY WEEK OF 6/20/77-6/24/77 (Note: Per newspaper listings, there were no scheduled preemptions and all daytime shows were scheduled to air every day this week). FAST WEEKLY WEEK OF 8/22/77-8/26/77 (Note: Per newspaper listings, there were several scheduled preemptions: On 8/23/77, a President Carter News Conference from 230-3PM was scheduled to preempt "Guiding Light" on CBS, "The Doctors" on NBC and the first 30 minutes of "One Life to Live" on ABC. All other daytime shows were scheduled to air every day this week). FAST WEEKLY WEEK OF 12/19/77-12/23/77 (Note: Per newspaper listings, there were no scheduled preemptions and all daytime shows were scheduled to air every day this week). From my research, I only have CBS daytime airing Lucy-related shows during these time frames: I Love Lucy 1/5/59-9/23/66 The Lucy Show 9/9/68-9/1/72 Here's Lucy 5/2/77-11/4/77 So, no Lucy-related shows on CBS daytime from 9/26/66-9/6/68 and 9/4/72-4/29/77.
  13. I've known of that resource for many years, but I think they mainly started posting the primetime Nielsen rankings at some point in the 1980's, around the same time USA Today started its weekly charts. Not much focus on daytime that I know of.
