I agree that major legacy characters shouldn't be killed unless the actor is dead. IDK if this means anything, but from when Amanda showed up again, they said that only his daughters got the stocks (Victoria didn't want it), because Alan was thought to be dead. Would he even consider Phillip family, since he is adopted? Is there an English YouTube post of this episode where Dylan and Samantha dance? It was very well-done dream sequence. It's 22, 23 minutes in. It's the only 'dream sequence' I really like.

ARTICLE: Tristan Rogers, Actor Best Known For Portrayal Of Robert Scorpio On ‘General Hospital’, Dies At 79
I haven't watched GH in decades, but Robert Scorpio was definitely part of my childhood and teen years. Thanks to him for being part of the best part of my daytime soap viewing time. Your charisma captured my heart. Condolences to family and friends.

Although it is nice to see past characters come back for family events like this, it just tells me that they aren't willing to fork over the money or worse, too lazy to know what the characters are like to care. Wow! The show mentions Roger in 87, but acted like he never existed after 1998 until 2004? @DeeVee Thank you! That flashback was weird. Never got to see his face and that story isn't enough to lie to Josh about Marah! Ridiculous. The hairdos that year...yikes!

IMO, it's called lazy writing and treating the audience like we are stupid. I just don't get why people would want Ross to be with someone like her. I wish I could post the 7/17/92 episode from the Vault here. The writing then vs in 97 was night and day to me. In the 7/17/92 episode, Roger and Nick hear that a woman fitting Mindy's description was found dead. Roger goes with Nick to identify the body. After confirming it's not Mindy, Roger still tells the authorities that he wants to pay for Jane Doe's funeral costs. That he knows that is 'someone's Melinda' and he hoped when it came for when he died someone gave a damn (sigh...this show burns me up). Not only that, but that scene tells me that it was Roger that Mindy saw at the train station. Because, Roger tells Nick he doesn't think it's Mindy and if Mindy is gone, it's because she doesn't want to be found for a little while. Just when Nick is questioning that, that is when the authorities bring in the body. All to say, this is when you would have this scenario as an option. Not that stupid one with Blake. I just wish that the show didn't have Roger be so stupid to use Gilly when she was the best worker he had later on. They had a great work groove going on in 92.

Yup! If you watched from when she started, it makes more sense. The part about Blake... This is when I can't stand this character. The show treats her like a teenager and not a married woman with twin boys. Everyone slobbering over her and her butt can't find a hospital, diner, library, police station, fire department to go to to ask for help? Then everyone is all hysterical and slobbers over her? Even Amanda? No thanks. I skip anything with Jenna, Buzz, Phillip and Harley at this point. Elini and Frank should have just sold the diner by now and start their own detective agency. How this Jeffrey guy is still around is so annoying at this point. Having every character pretend to be helping to get that house ready for Vanessa is beyond stupid to me. Why would Roger or Amanda (don't get me started on Amanda's outfit) even care? It just tells me that the actors need so much screen time and they shoehorn them in to meet a quota. @Lujack4Ever At least Trish came back and the show treated the character and actor with respect. Michael Zaslow's death happened on Dec 6 and they said nothing until January 1999. Then acted like Roger had yet another son out of the blue in 2004 and have the lamest funeral ever. I also agree that the actress that played Trish was very good. However, there were too many Lewis and Shayne family members to me.

I watched this clip of Morgan and Nola. Lisa Brown is great, but the actress playing Morgan...meh I see there were two different actresses playing Morgan. Just another example how another actor can just change a character. @kalbir I looked too and was surprised she didn't have one cover! Maybe, she declined though? @Spoon Those costumes are gorgeous! Vanessa's looked huge on her though. Did they do Founders Day every year? Doesn't seem like it.

So many missed opportunities on this show. Sometimes it seems like just when I get into a show, I jinx it. Shipping Lex and Lana on Smallville (being a Lex fan on that show in general), Brenda on 90210, Prue and Andy on Charmed, Caleb and Miranda on Ravenswood...all go kaput. Just discovering Guiding Light and then finding out what happens to my favorite chatacter/actor. @Lujack4Ever What a great picture! It's fasinating how even in the the early 90s, GL didn't really do great outdoor location scenes like the 80s. I would have shown Roger in a real overseas location.

It's hard to decide if I should watch old 1980s ones as most don't have all the episodes and so many people that I have never heard of like Morgan. GL doesn't have YouTube vids just focused on one story arch like the 1980s General Hospital mystery story arch have and I pretty much knew characters up to early 2000s.

Thanks! I guess this is one reason why I really wasn't into Soaps. Especially, CBS ones. I really just skimmed the soap magazines in the 1990s and stopped. @alwaysAMC I am not sure myself. I know they had him frame Marcus stealing money. My poor Michael Zaslow...I just don't get what Roger's motives were. I guess a way to get him in the main storyline. I recall he ended up showing Marcus didn't do it just to make sure she didn't find out about him stealing the money. It's interesting how I think my nighttime viewing may have affected even how I viewed daytime shows. I was a TGIF ABC gal. @alwaysAMC I go here to find magazine covers. It even tells you what section of the magazine they are in (so you know if you want to buy it or not). Back Issues Of Soap Opera Magazines | Soap Opera World GL at that time really wasn't getting much on covers. BTW, I noticed that Michael Zaslow and Wendy Moniz gave out the Daytime Emmy award for best leading actress in 1996. Michael looked so healthy. Too bad they didn't get to give the award for Jerry's win.

Not many made the cover of Soap Opera Digest. As for Brent/Marian, I don't think that storyline got articles written over it nor the cover. I know there is a Lucy/Alan Michael cover on Soap Opera Digest of their wedding. As for Reva, she had a ton of articles, covers, etc. on her. BTW, can anyone tell me why Roger wanted to not release the story on Brent Lawrence? This is according to summaries and it never made sense to me.

It's seriously not even worth it. A tiny picture with Hart/Dinah and Roger/Amanda and you can tell it's not a pic with all of them really together and it says Who Will Wed. It doesn't even have anything else to read. I found it on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/BrFox9NhsL2/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=d2pxMGE4dzU1czV2 @Lujack4Ever Was that Morgan on the beach with Josh? So, they did end up together for a bit?

LOL Thanks for the laugh! It's funny seeing Josh so young. He got quite the shiner! Could anyone help me with the very beginning of this clip showing Roger talking to this guy with this little boy like he knew him? @DeeVee I thought Alan/Reva came off hilarious. Did she really think he would be ok just living in her house? I bought into Roger, because Alexandra made it upfront she didn't trust him. Like Roger said, he had to be a lap dog to Alexandra and it still wasn't enough. I don't think this episode is available in English. Go to 9 mins in and see what I mean (you have to change to English subtitiles to understand what they are saying).

It was so cringy! It wouldn't make me want to watch. I am watching the 1988 German dubbed episodes. I am sort of skipping around, but am so confused on how Alexandra even thought of marrying HB. How the actress playing Mindy had NO chemistry with Will. How Alan could tolerate even living with Reva.

That is surprising they only had one scene together. But, I wonder what they would do if they did? Josh loved to yell and bellow, but he doesn't seem like a good fighter. Heck, even Harley punched him in the eye! So funny. @alwaysAMC I finally found the picture, but it's not on the cover, it's inside the magazine and of course, I don't know which magazine and what date it came out. LOL

I have re-read this so many times. Wow! Will's background changed that much? A defrocked priest to an American friend of Josh? I am still trying to figure out when and why Mindy and Will got married. I could have sworn I watched a 1998 episode and Mindy is consoling Frank by saying Will is just a friend while letting Will live in her house! This was before Kimberly Simms took over in 1989 where she is married to Will. @DeeVee I mean at the end when Sonni was not on Roger and Blake's side anymore. @P.J. Bonita Solita? So hilarious! @Matt Powers I am guessing he wanted a break!

Sonni was in a porn movie? I think it's that German translation. They put some of the most crude 'translations'. She acted all shy around Roger! That's why I wish there was some well done translations or a way to see old episodes in their own voice! @kalbir Good observation. @P.J. There are even worse ones! There's one with Reva talking in a southern accent talking about how she is still married to Billy and how funny it was telling his fiancé, Vanessa. She's wearing a fur coat to boot! So ridiculous!

@Paul Raven That post is why I think it was meant to be that Michael Zaslow going back to OLTL . There is no way that GL could do it right. I cannot believe that stupid storyline for Phillip and Beth! I still can't find that cover, but found this funny picture of Roger Thorpe in a casket, very much alive https://pin.it/6J3rvyqk4
