  1. I agree about Harley and Josh. She had chemistry with the family as well. Unlike Alan-Michael. Rick Hearst's Alan-Michael had zero chemistry with Harley, IMO.
  2. Me too. Mindy was not a pushover and didn't fawn over Roger like people kept saying for some reason. However, it was never going to work. Ever. Now, her having a baby would have been perfect for tying Billy and Roger...that would have been fantastic soap goodness to me. I didn't think Rick was good enough for Mindy. I thought her and Mallott had great chemistry, but him being in law enforcement/PI was just repeating Rusty. I personally wish they didn't bring her back.
  3. I related more to Samantha than teen/young adults like Drew and Michelle.
  4. I didn't think Harley and the fashion designer had any chemistry. Billy owned that huge building and they dropped all the opportunities for the rich people to go to other than the country club (I miss where they actually had a country club) and have smaller characters that could have come in and out to push things along. Nadine being in real estate could have also kept her in Billy's orbit. I thought Mindy with Mallett was too similar with her and Rusty. I don't get what their storyline would be. I would have had Mallett and Jenna in a relationship to stir things up before he got with Harley. Too bad Robert Newman left before Harley/Josh got good! As for a one night stand...that would have only worked for me if Roger/Mindy had a Rear Window type situation. Or be an alibi like Roger was for Rita. Otherwise, who cares if they had a one night stand? I wouldn't have had Hart at all. I would have had Roger building a good relationship with Michelle triggering Ed. Or if Hart was created, he him in a relationship with Michelle. Now that would have been something!
  5. The way they were writing, it seemed like India was staying longer. Phillip's storyline had him on the run or in jail. Then he left for a long time. I think they dropped Samantha and Dylan way too fast. The relationships between her, Ross and her Dad (Justin) could have been kept going. They could have brought back the lady that was helping her decide to do the risky surgery to get her to walk again. She could have made for a good recurring character. They could have had her want to become a advocate for the disabled.
  6. Anyone know why the show didn't keep India in 1991? Is it because Phillip wasn't going to be around? By the time she returned, it seemed like the shoehorned her in for no reason. She was so ordinary, it was sad, IMO! Michelle became too much the focus on this show. I just didn't find her that interesting to focus that much attention on her. As for Samantha, I never got why she never returned. I thought the original actress was good and had solid storylines. I never understood why she never returned, yet they had so many Harts and even another Dinah (who looked nothing like Vanessa). The teens they added in the late 90s (Drew, Marcus, that singer, etc.) I never could get into.
  7. I thought they said she and Kim Zimmer was best buds or whatever... That whole storyline was OTT to me. I just couldn't care. @P.J. It was dragged on for so long, IMO.
  8. I only saw a few clips of Nola prior to her return in the 90s. I thought Lisa Brown was a fabulous actress and the show (as usual) wasted it. Nola came in with no major storyline, so they never knew what to do with her.
  9. That was me that wanted Nadine to become a Real Estate agent that turns into a brokerage. That way she can be in all sorts of storylines and have people work for her too. Instead they had her doing her TV advice show at the freaking diner. @Speed Racer I didn't like the Holly talking to Dinah about Roger. First off, I didn't buy for one second that Dinah was in love with Roger. Anyone with a brain cell knew Roger used Dinah to make Holly jealous. That dream Vanessa had of the scenario that Roger would make sure no one could even go and visit Dinah was beyond ludicrous to me. Roger was right that they were more upset about her being with Roger than that Viktor dude threatening her life. The warning Amanda got was more realistic. Holly's mean article was as well. It was true how he gained power and his reaction showed it hit home. I thought the show went too fast in getting them together, because all those storylines with rape involved would reflect on Holly still being with Roger. That's why it was never going to work. It should have been slower and Roger should have had one solid relationship before getting with Holly. Or a solid relationship with Blake and Hart first. Lastly, Roger wasn't meant to lose all other aspects of his life over Holly. Roger wouldn't just be satisfied with just working for Spaulding. He was always wanted it all and the show was making him into Grandpa Thorpe.
  10. I just didn't get why the show made Roger the bad guy with Holly being fired. She wasn't doing her job and was being passive aggressive with Gilly. Yes, it made sense after finding out about Blake and Ross, but it just dragged on and on and on. @P.J. Speaking of Hart, I watched Frank Grillo's doing an interview on Michael Rosenbaum's podcast and he looked so different! Obviously took steroids and he admitted to being an alcoholic. I didn't like him; he seems so slimy to me. As for Roger and Vanessa, he wanted to know the secret she had on Alexandra. That episode with everyone going over there basically to screw in a light bulb and move some furniture was so unrealistic. Roger was becoming Grandpa Thorpe...IMO.
  11. That scene was so STUPID to me. The writing was horrible! If Michael was healthy, he wouldn't be able to save that whole stupid storyline. Could you see him pretending to fix the stupid house for her? Seriously so dumb. Like I told you, it was like the show had an agreement where Amanda and Roger were barely in a scene together and yet were engaged to be married. I think it was to save money. BTW, what was the obsession with this show and Switzerland? Couldn't even get enough money to film there once! Has this show ever filmed overseas? @P.J. Liz brought that up in one of those Zoom interviews. The way Blake was acting, that was the least of her saying something stupid. What grown woman would see Ross kissing Amanda and not just not walk right in and bust it up? No, she goes and sleeps with pathetic Rick who she never acted attracted to. @Lujack4Ever Phillip got a huge funeral and Roger got yet another out of the blue son that didn't sound or look anything like him! Always pissed me off when Blake and Holly acted like he sounded like Roger and he didn't sound anything like him let alone look like him. Roger had the worst funeral ever. BTW, did Hart have a funeral?
  12. I was shocked when I saw India in 1998 or so. She looked so ordinary! In 1990, she looked like a rich socialite. Jenna was great in the beginning, but then she ended up with Buzz. I still don't get what the big deal was with them. You know the writers are stuck with a popular couple, because they had to think of any way for major characters to be yapping about their personal lives in a freaking diner for anyone to hear. @P.J. To me Holly has always been all over the place. Maureen did a great job, but I got whiplash with Holly. She deserved to be fired and yet the show acted like Roger was in the wrong.
  13. I remember this episode. I don't get Holly. @alwaysAMC When did Amanda tell FakeRoger that she wanted a baby? I don't recall that.
  14. So glad the Vault is open again!
  15. Her Dad and two brothers were horrible! I know they tried to make Ken Norris a thing again in 1998, but I think that would flop because he gone forever on that show. I have been reading recaps of Smallville episodes and I swear someone who wrote for Smallville was either of fan of GL or soaps, because some of the storylines seem to be similar. Clones, Lex buying the Daily Planet, Lucy faking her kidnapping... LOL I just watched a reaction vid on YouTube of Season 2 Ep 15 of Smallville called Prodigal and Lionel is into Asian art/culture, instead of pretending to be paralyzed, he was pretending to be blind and told the Scorpion and The Frog story like Roger told.
  16. Isn't Andy Holly's brother? I swear, her family sucked. Yeah, I always hope there will be a missing episode finally posted, but it's either a different episode or doesn't show the character I am interested in. I wish someone would just buy the episodes from P&G and sell them to watch!
  17. He was frightening without the alcohol! @P.J. I guessed so, but I was just floored with that ad. However, it seemed like Reva was even more shown in 1998, from what I read, because of Cassie.
  18. I saw some GL 1997 tv commercial stating that TV Guide and I think SOD said GL was the best soap of 1997! Were the other soaps that bad? I read some recaps of episodes of 1998 and the plots were so over the top! I couldn't believe they lasted until 2009!
  19. In 91, Rick, Phillip and Beth leave. Only Mindy is around until 1995 when Rick finally returns.
  20. Duh! How could I forget that? @P.J. Four Musketeers ended in 1991. I just didn't get why Rick had to leave too. Phillip and Beth leaving made sense. With Rick gone, and Daniel St John (too bad that character didn't work out) suddenly a murderer, Ed was the only doctor around until Eve. I wouldn't have had Daniel St John try and marry Holly. I thought that storyline made no sense! Don't the shows think of several scenarios to cover when the contracts with the actor doesn't work out?
  21. What happened to Diane? She go 'nuts' too? Seemed like the only male to go to the nuthouse was Roger. @Lujack4Ever Lujack is a great example. Your scenario makes perfect sense. I also didn't like they had Beth, Philip, Rick and Mindy all gone at the same time. I liked how 1989/1990 showed a slow build up for the split of the Four Musketeers, but for Rick to leave too? Made no sense to me. I wasn't a fan of Nick. I also didn't like that on screen couples became off screen as well. Majority of the time, it just makes things harder with storylines. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I liked Eve. I just didn't like how this show always made the women turn 'crazy' over someone that isn't worth it. Then turn around and make them sane in less than 6 months. I also didn't like Eve being paired with Ed, only because he seemed to be the only doctor available. I would have had Roger obsessed with finding out about Eve after a flashback or hearing from the grapevine that someone that he thought was dead was in danger and alive. Plus, would be a great story for WSPR.
  22. Amanda admitted that she gave up everything the first time. Still, it doesn't make any sense why they made Amanda Alan's daughter in the first place, IMO. Same with Hart and Ben Reade. I still don't get the point of even creating the character of Hart. Roger would NEVER ignore his son being murdered by Dinah, Holly's daughter being kidnapped, his Grandson living in Minnesota while he lives in California, etc. He just wouldn't. How they treated his death was a slap in the face and I am watching this 21 years later (when Roger's character was killed). @DeeVee So many off screen characters were treated that way. So many missed opportunities for better storylines.
  23. Thanks for your update and safe travels.
  24. General Hospital was very much a part of my summer/school holiday childhood and teen years. Thank you to Tristain Rogers for such wonderful morning TV memories. Robert Scorpio was one of my favorite characters and loved the mysteries and intrigue the character had. There was nothing like GH at that time. I am glad I got to watch it live. @Khan I know what you mean. This hits me hard. So many memories.
  25. From what I recall, Alan would have been the beneficiary, if he were alive? I don't think the Grandchildren got anything. @Reverend Ruthledge I get what you mean, it's just that it seemed like at a certain point they need to think things out if they are going to kill off a major character. If the character is bringing nothing to the storylines, then I don't fault them for doing so. It just seems like they write themselves in a corner with certain legacy characters and the easiest way out is death. IMO, GL didn't do a good job with this.
